SevoMod 3

Sevo -

Thanks for all your hard work on this mod, and thank you for sticking around to do a Warlords update. Guess I might buy Warlords now... ;) Maybe Firaxis should send half my purchase price to you, as I probably wasn't going to get it if there wasn't any Sevomod for Warlords...

Hey now, Firaxis made a great game and I think have earned their payday. I think they way they made the game so easily moddable is laudable (horray internal rhymes).

That said, I agree that Sevo and all the other great modders have earned theirs as well. I know if there was a legal way to go about it, I would certainly be willing to show my thankfulness monetarily. Unfortunately, all we can give is our appreciation and respect.

Would we be able to play Warlords and vanilla w/o reinstalling them or having two copies of the game?
I remember reading somewhere in CFC that you could have two different versions of the game installed, right about the time patch 1.61 come out. I know it was about savegames not being compatible with patch 1.61, something about a MOD's savegames not being playable, either Sevomod or Total Realism. IIRC

hello!

its a minor issue i know, comming from a small country that is mine: Portugal.

I'm a new user to the mod (btw great mod ;)) and i enjoyed to play with my country (altough sucky seafaring trait :D).

Anyway, the song that it plays for Portugal, is tango, from Argentina (not even from Spain if u thought that).

If you want to put something rooted in Portugal, try search for a style called 'Fado'. Personally i dont like that much but its our in our culture for 200 years. It sounds like the guitar in the Islam stuff in the game.

Noted. I'll see what I can scrounge up.

I've added TheLopez's improvements outside borders and configured it to allow forts to be built outside borders--never understood why that wasn't allowed in the first place. There's no cultural border or anything, but at least you can defend neutral ground (though your units will still be kicked if another civ's cultural borders impinge. I'm working on a system to fix this, still in the planning stages, but we'll see.

And thanks for all the support, guys! I'm just thankful to Firaxis for how open and mod-able they made this game. My expectation is that this is going to be increasingly desired by game players and that the mods themselves, like Fall From Heaven or TAM in this forum, will begin to take on a life of their own that may in the end exceed the the scope and reach of the original game. It's the power of the people, man!

The first game I really got my hands into modding was DOOM. I was in college at the time and we used to play over the campus LAN, so I started making maps, changing the gun speeds, that kind of thing. At that time most of the mods were done via user-created hack programs to extract and re-implant pieces of the executable, but id software had included support for third-party maps. But it made the game more personal and more fun in some ways, since we could tailor it to the way we wanted to play it.

Anyway, I should be able to get this final pre-warlords out shortly. I'm going to be on vacation for two weeks at the beginning of August and then I'll work on the Warlords-compatible version when I get back.

Sure you can make monetary contributions: you are entitled and able to send Sevo any money, or gift, that you like, as long as it is okay with him. The trouble comes when he begins to expect, or (heaven forbid) demand, these monetary contributions that his dwelling will be raided by the powers that be and Sevomod will encounter much more trouble than previously experienced from a failed hard drive for a few weeks.

Sevo, I want to taunt Happy Fun Ball! :D

Noted that the music for Ataturk doesn't play late in the game.

well to start, donation would give him enough money for an external backup HDD :) avoiding that problem to arise on the first place :) My server in germany is always online too(im now for weeks in the netherlands at my parents) but every 2nd day the external HDD gets power from an time-power-switch and my server detects it, i have a nice backup tool that automatically backups everything, and after 30mins the power is off again....so even when lightning strikes my house..even then there's always an Backup on a power-disconnected HDD...the chances the lighning just strikes during an backup are really small i'd say..and besides..all the really important data is also automatically backupped at my Webhoster(8gig hosting place)...
so..2backups, almost completely independed of the server..if sevo had the money of his fans..he could easily do this.....but

this should you read sevo:
I can give you login to my FTP or even to my Webhoster..you can backup everything there if needed..just to have a backup apart from your home..i always do this with important data for the case of fire...because all home backups are gone when there's a fire..if you backup on a remote place..you are really 99,999% sure..you'll never be 100% of course.

Shqype, You must NOT taunt happy fun ball....at least not until Sevo updates this mod to Warlords. Besides, knowing Sevo, he most likely modded happy fun ball into some horrible weapon of mass destruction.

Yup :) to state this clearly. without sevo, i wouldnt bother even to think about buying warlords..as a matter of fact, i wouldn't even play the game! when i had to choose(civ4 1.61 + sevo + keldath ultimate expansion + smartmap, or civ4-warlords) hehehe..bye bye warlords! :) sevo and his friends modders proved not only to make a awesome expansion to the game, but also supply decent support. now, firaxis proved they can make a game as moddable as civ4(it is a good achievement!must admit that). their support on hardware problems is(and that is a fact!since i personally hold prove of the fact they couldn't solve many ATI's problems themself) a shame of software manufacturing industry.the least they could do is just say:"yes we know of the problem, we're trying to fix it, but honestly, we have no clue what goes wrong" ...sevo just says:"he's working on it but still hasn't figured it out" honesty should be rewarded! so I stick with sevo..

I expect warlords to have problems too, just like civ4 when it came out. I'm sure eventually the modders and gamers find all the problems firaxis didnt find, i guess that's normal and not a failure of firaxis, they can't find all problems on the few configurations they use in office, but anyway I only ask honesty! that isn't too much to ask is it? from a million earning company!! so, I'll wait untill sevo says:"warlords is good to go", first then i go out and buy the expansion :)

That was more of a statement to get a probe into an explanation of exactly what "Happy Fun Ball" is. I'de appreciate the link to a video :)

Me too...I have no earthly idea what "happy fun ball" is. Maybe it's like "Wilson"...Tom Hank's little volleyball pretend friend in the movie castaway.

Happy Fun Ball (TM) "has been shipped to our troops in Saudi Arabia and is also being dropped by our warplanes on Iraq." Ugh: Nothing like Anderson Cooper and a fifteen year old throw-away line to depress me about the prospects for peace in the middle east.

On topic: Thanks, Sevo, for any and all future updates, and if you've tired of it, for all your past efforts as well. Despite the pages of our collective carping about how the last issue of Jane's proves beyond a shadow of a doubt the awesomeness of the M-1 Bradley in urban combat and why you know nothing, I repeat NOTHING, about warfare if you haven't been in an M-1 Bradley gunner's seat, serving your country, staring down the Truth of how tanks should have a plus 500% rather than a negative 50% city attack bonus, we really do appreciate the incredible amount of work you've put into this.

I'm hungry; off to go find the script for Cluckin' Chicken to confront my utter lack of remorse for last night's dinner: "You taste great, Clucky!"

Edit: Shqype, get it quick before the GE lawyers find out.

Edit the 2nd: Because the script does not do Clucky justice.

Aghast, that was great. Thanks a lot!

I too will wait till warlords has sevo mod . the vanilla is just too boring . all the extra sevo and the add-ons make the vanilla version useless. its been six months since I have played vanilla long live sevo mod!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to add my thanks to Sevo for this mod. I honestly can't imagine playing the vanilla version and haven't in a long, long time.

So, thanks for your hard work. It has been much appreciated by many of us :)

Enjoy your next projects!!
