Sex-Abstinence classes innefectual?

I'd just like to add that mine is partly shyness and mostly religious. I have of course been asked out several times by fairly good looking girls, but I refused because I'm sorta shy and if I did go out, I really doubt I'd plan to have sex. At best (worst?), it'd be spontaneous and that would of course be very dangerous. I try my best to be a good Christian and rarely plan on sinning.

can of course carry a condom in your walet.. its not really planning to have sex.. but being aware it may occour and having a desire to be safe

How can you have anything more than one sentence on Abstinance?

I think it goes "dont do it cos...

EWWWWW! bleugh... then again, lack of condoms stopped play after round one last night...

Ok, can we get back ontopic or the mods would close this thread for sex talks :hide:.

Lol, Arn't Sex-abstinence classes all about "sex talks"

Lol, Arn't Sex-abstinence classes all about "sex talks"
Well the talk of reusing condoms and putting them in pockets does tread into that rule of keeping sexual topics to a minimum :hide:.

In other news, basic spelling and dictionary-using instructions aren't working either. You'd think with near-instant access to services such as www.onelook.com, we wouldn't have so many spelling mistakes.

Abistence sucks. I rember when they told us about abistence. hahaha everyone laughed cuz half the people in the room had already lost their virgnity. Absitence is lame, no one does it. Teach the kids how to have safe sex and let them make up their own minds.

What goes on in a sexual abstinence class anyhow?

Today class, we'll be going over the finer points of cold showers and picturing your grandmother in a thong. Tomorrow, proper behaviour at a strawberry social. First, we'll start out by looking at some sexually explicit videos: if you are doing any of these activities on a regular basis, you are NOT abstaining from sex...

Thankgod we dont have abstinence classes in the uk

Prove to me how it is ineffective?

I was taught about abstanance (along with other safe sex practaces) and I am still abstaining from Sex.

Perhaps women a refraining from having sex with not you abstaining from sex. ;) Sorry but that just too easy for me not to say that.

Well one problem is the conflicting messages that are being sent to children. We do not have a consistent message to bring. Once that is solved it would be easier to teach that message.

When I lived in Germany I attended grades 4,5 and 6. In grade 5 or 6 (I forget which now), we had a bit of sex-ed in our biology class, for a while.

This was mainly the teaching of sex from a biological point of view, rather than a social (quite the opposite of what is done in North America, from what I gather). It was mostly fairly boring, to be honest!

We were taught how the organs work, what happens during puberty, why, what we can expect, but most of it was just biological mumbo jumbo (well, at the time, that's what it appeared to be).

During the last class we were shown a video of a man and a woman having sex. Nothing was censored. It wasn't porn - it was a video specifically produced with the intent of showing it in a sex-ed class. There was nothing too explicit.. I think we saw butts and boobs.. Everything else was hidden from view - but it was a bit more explicit than a softcore porn.

The social aspect of sex should be taught in sociology class. The biological aspect of it is far more important.
