I had no idea that Islam was so liberal about sexuality. :D
Apparently, sex abounds in the Islamic Paradise...now I can see more about Islam's initial attraction...I mean, christian monks are supposed to be celibate forever. The Islamic pious get sex...;)

Well, that's what many would-be Moslem heroes think. These are some passages:


Sura 78:31 As for the righteous, they shall surely triumph. Theirs shall be gardens and vineyards, and high- bosomed virgins for companions: a truly overflowing cup.

Sura 37:40-48 ...They will sit with bashful, dark-eyed virgins, as chaste as the sheltered eggs of ostriches.

Sura 44:51-55 ...Yes and We shall wed them to dark-eyed houris. (beautiful virgins)

Sura 52:17-20 ...They shall recline on couches ranged in rows. To dark-eyed houris (virgins) we shall wed them...

Sura 55:56-57 In them will be bashful virgins neither man nor Jinn will have touched before. Then which of the favours of your Lord will you deny ?"

Sura 55:57-58 Virgins as fair as corals and rubies. Then which of the favours of your Lord will you deny ?"

Sura 56:7-40 ...We created the houris (the beautiful women) and made them virgins, loving companions for those on the right hand.. "

Sura 55:70-77 In each there shall be virgins chaste and fair... Dark eyed virgins sheltered in their tents whom neither man nor Jinn will have touched before..

The term houris may not mean "virgin"
 
I've read an article about it before, and according to the author, the reason why muslims are more likely to "die for the cause" is because their heaven has much more promisses then the judeo-christian one, and the one who dies fighting for Allah is automatically sent to heaven, no trial or purgatory like in the Christian version.
 
and of course they believe in a very literal sense, not like the diffuse christian imagination. I read about a suicide bomber who wanted to speak with a certain philosopher or king after his death and was very excited about the virgins.
 
None are more liberal about sexuality than the hindu ;)
 
I remember reading a passage from the koran that makes reference to virgin boys in heaven for all those who get there. Dont remember exactly what it said, can anyone help?
 
The description of the Muslim heaven tells us more about Mohammed than it does about Islam.

it's a good thing God is so liberal. the one thing i find funny tho if there are these 100 some virgins in heaven after all this time(1000s of years) what makes them think they're so studly as to get them?
 
The two greatest triumphs of Man are his brain and his pecker, and he derives his greatest pleasure from the exercise of these two vital organs. I'm not joking. And since both are created by God, and designed especially so as to fulfill Man's two highest purposes, namely, self-awareness and self-perpetuation, it's clear that thinking and having sex is EXACTLY what God intended us to be doing.

Of course the same applies to Woman as well ;)

The Christian Heaven - and the Jewish Heaven, and pretty much every OTHER Heaven - leaves out the exercise of the brain. It also leaves out sexuality. I think it was Mark Twain who noted that a man will make every effort to increase his store of knowledge, however meager, and he will take every opportunity to get laid, however desperate. Yet he leaves these two priceless recreations out of his Heaven!

Any Heaven which recognizes that sexuality constitutes a vital, indeed an essential, part of humanity is imho groping in the right direction. No pun intended.

Where Islam should be faulted is that its Heaven provides no similar refreshments for the fairer sex :mischief:

Now, if you want to argue about Mr. Muhammed's MOTIVES in offering a Heaven where anyone who dies in Allah's name gets several dozen buxom companions, then I will quickly agree with you that it was a shrewdly mercenary policy :p But I still think his Heaven shows a better understanding of human nature, at least on this topic, than Jesus's. ;)
 
I thought you would say that the third greatest triumph of man is getting naughty, inappropiate, and often artificial pleasure out of the first two. ;)
 
And I thought you would again point out that human ingenuity has failed to perfect the wooden brain and the prosthetic genitals... :p

The phrase "inappropriate pleasure" has a typical Christian-ascetic ring to it :p imho pleasure for its own sake is fine, whether mental or physical. It's when you start to hurt people - including yourself - that it turns sour. The idea of "naughty" pleasure is a non sequitur imho. If you admit that mankind was made to use his brain, you can certainly not deny that mankind was also made to have sex. Let me ask you this: is Muhammed's Harem-Heaven [tm] an example of "naughty" pleasure? And how so?

I don't know where that came from. Its not like I'm Catholic or anything. ;) :p

I agree, to some extent, but I think when you become addicted to the pleasure it becomes wrong. Everything in moderation.

Well, first of all, I just added naughty because I felt it. But second of all, let me respond with this: You can certainly not deny that sex above and beyond a certain extent is wrong. You're made to have it, but you shouldn't demean its meaning by having it 24/7. What I mean is, do you think a porn star really gets the same enjoyment as a regular person? So, to respond to you Muhammed question: I would say its not "naughty" as long as they do it like normal people. Having sex for an eternity would bore me. I hope Heaven is more than that...
 
Oh, I agree with you - and I don't see any place in the Koran quotes where sex is referred to as an eternal or constant activity! :p

The perfect Heaven would really be a sort of Elysium where you could wander around, with no wants, participating in whatever activities interested you most.

Anyway, I don't see anybody calling thought "demeaned" just because your brain never shuts off - even when you're asleep... ;)
 
If heroes of the faith go to heaven, and heaven is filled with virgins, doesn't that mean the heroes never got any? Unless you use Bill Clinton's definition, then I guess it could work.
 
go to heaven for the climate, hell for the company. Does the bible ever go into any detailed explaination of heaven or hell for that matter
