Sex+humor is the ultimate combination for an ad.

I'm more likely to appreciate the ads that are self-deprecatingly funny or skewer advertising stereotypes or attitudes towards sex. The linked ad is pretty funny for that reason.

The worst ads that use sex are the ones that use it truly exploitatively, and don't seem to realize the irony or subtext of that use. The GoDaddy ads that always air around Super Bowl season are a good example. They're just straight-out vulgar and annoying.

Anyway, most young people are so inured to advertising, and especially sex in advertising, that it can't really affect what they buy, can it? I know advertisements never affect my shopping decisions.

Sex in Commericals have gone too far these days :(.

You reminded me of a mock advert on the Simpsons where they have the superbowl on and theres this scence where they have these really hot girls with huge boobs filling up this man's petrol tank and then it shows a Christain cross and then theres the narrator who says: "The Catholic Church- We've made some changes"

Then Lisa says: "These superbowl advertisements are...weird"

Great......

Edit: Don't take it too harshly it's satire..... Doing exactly the opposite of what the church stands for

I like them Anna Kournikova camera ads.

Why? Well, its Anna Kournikova.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that's Maria Sharapova ;)

Whoever the hell it is, she's hot.:cooool:

It is Maria Sharapova. She has pretty much replace Anna Kournikova as the "hot tennis player" for endorsements because it turns out that she can win tournaments as well as look pretty.

Stylesjl: I like that Simpsons commercial also. It is more a mockery of Super Bowl ads and advertising hype in general than of religion.

But Ana Kournikova is way hotter.

It really would be interesting to know if TV ads really do convince people to buy stuff. I heard that Advertising industry is not doing well these days. No wonder, if you are so bombarded by advertising you get immune to it. But I guess if a company does'nt advertise it doesn't exist, so...

I wish there were more sexy+funny ads, LOL.

Love the ads - but I cant for the life of me remember what they advertise.

Except for

"Do you want a flake with that?"
"Hey, Tarquil, Have you got your trolleys on back to front? Bodington's ads.

All the Cadbury's flake ads - especially girl in bath

I can't recall the names of the brands advertised for, but the commercials that plop into my memory all involve beer... With a fair bunch involving pool areas for "some" reason.

And, of course, there's the Carlsberg commercial where an apparently boring woman sitting across a man drinking a beer gets sexier, every time he takes a sip of the beverage. Brilliant commercial actually, because it has some truth to it.

Edit: And I see classical_hero has proved my point regarding sex in beer commercial along with pool areas.

Sex won't sell for me, because I'm indifferent to the issue. I don't know if it affects PURCHASES. But I agree with CivGeneral.

While the ads are appealing, i dont like the fact they try to equate
their brand of beer with a sexy woman.
Its rather like an ad i saw for a variety pack of sweets:
Its a dull disco in a dull room, and the dj is an elderly man with glasses and
insipid music is playing; then one person whips out the variety pack and the
disco explodes into a wild party, bright and colourful lights etc.
essentially---> our packet of sweets=one hell of a party!!!!!
Infuriating that was. Only in sexy ads i`m rarely angry to see the women.

however Sharapova has actually won something-tennis related.

I voted for No, its overrated. While I may enjoy the commercial, I am not fooled into buying the product because they showed me a hot chick. I would like to see more commercials that try to sell their product by explaining why you should want to buy theirs instead of someone elses.

I don't really buy anything that I see on TV just because I saw it on TV, so sexy ads pretty much get ignored like everythign else. If there is something I want/need, I research it online or head to the store -- I don't need an ad to tell me that it exists or where to find it.

I actually tend to try to make it a point to NOT purchase products that overtly use sex as the selling point in their commercials. It leads to the moral decay of our nation.

Latest example on my boycott list: Bridgestone for their tire commercials. I mean really, what does a scantily clad wet female have to do with the quality of Bridgestone tires?

Fanta ads anyone?

I mean come on I almost feel like getting that junk after seeing the ad for it.
