Might be difficult. I'm up in a bunch of succession games, and likely won't be able to play in a while. Skip or swap please.

Okay, then, I think this is the new situation:

    1: Overseer => Just played
    2: Sparthage => Skip
    3: DWetzel => MIA
    4: Bowsling => Skip/swap
    5: Elephantium => UP!
    6: Charlemagne => On deck?

I'm also up in Rat42, so it might be a couple of days before I can play this one.

    Pre-turn:

I look at CA II for culture. We need...
5 Stock Exchanges for Wall Street (300s, 2cpt, 1 under construction)
4 more Hospitals for Battlefield Medicine (500s, 1cpt)
1 more Army for The Pentagon (400s, 1cpt)
    Economics for Smith's (600s, 3cpt)

    Minimum of 18 turns away:
Computers for Research Lab (100s, 2cpt)
Computers for SETI program (1000s, 3cpt)
    Fission for UN (1000s, 4cpt)
Fission for Manhatten Project (800s, 2cpt)

I'm going to switch builds to open up Wall Street ASAP, then research Economics and build Smith's.
    2 turns to finish Hoover's
    300s / 84spt = 4 turns to build Wall Street
    600s / 84 spt = 8 turns w/prebuild to finish Smith's

With those, plus building the UN in 1500, we'll win in 1575.
I wrote up a spreadsheet to play with the numbers, and the best I could do was 1570 -- assuming we get at least one Leader in battle.

    IBT:

    Pollution at Const
    Athens: Workers
    Barcelona: Bank > SE

    TUrn 1 (1355 AD):

    Cav kills Greek LB
Move workers around, trying to improve our core.
Cycle through builds, changing several Libs to arty (they won't help in 90% corrupt towns)

    IBT:

Aztecs proffor a WM trade. We decline.
Greek LB suicides vs. our Cav
    Steel > Econ
Const: Hoover > Army, prebuild for Smith or Wall Street
    Sparta: Worker > arty
    Corinth: Workers
    Santiago: Court > Duct
    Salamanca: SE > Infantry
    Ibabanago: Workers
    Baruun-Urt: Harbor > Galleon

    Turn 2 (1360 AD):

5 Cannons at Thessalonica - one damage. Okay, we'll try again next turn.

    8 Cannons at Ephesus - 5 hits
    Cav kills 2/4 Rifle
    eCav kills redlined Rifle
Cav kills LB and takes Ephesus.

    IBT:

Two Greek Rifles and one LB come into tiles around Ephesus.
    Athens: Workers
    Bapedi: Duct > Factory
    Toledo: Factory > Bank

    Turn 3 (1365 AD):

Cav kills Greek Rifle S of Ephesus.
Cav kills Greek LB N of Ephesus, promotes

Move all Cannon into one big stack next to Thessalonica.

    IBT:

    Athens: Workers
    Thermopylae: WOrkers
    Mycenae: Workers
Aztecs declare on us due to MPP with Greece.

    Turn 5 (1375 AD):

    Cannons redline Thessalonian defenders.
    eCav kills Rifle
eCav kills Rifle and takes the city.

eCav kills stray LB near Delphi
eCav kills stray Rifle N of Delphi

    Spoiler :
Continued (sorry about the long delay) ...

Cycle Scientists to Taxmen and sell a Lib in hopelessly corrupt Ngome.
Short-rush SE in Barbaropolis and Barcelona
    Short-rush Bank in Toledo

    IBT:

Aztecs move out forces to attack us. They send ... a Swordsman and a Longbow. Our troops are terrified, especially when the LB suicides vs. our A-cav.

    Econ > Combustion
    Pollution strikes Constantinople
    Madrid: Bank > SE
    Barbaropolis: SE > Infantry
    Seville: Factory > Uni
    Toledo: Bank > SE
    Intombe: Mkt > Uni

    Turn 6 (1380 AD):

    Cav kills Spear at Atzcapotzalco.
Cav kills Spear at Atz... promotes, and takes the city!
Oops, I razed it by accident - misclicked on the "raze" option :(
    Rush Uni in Seville.
Sci slider at 80%, Combustion due in 5. (-40gpt)

    IBT:

    African city: Arty > Arty
    Barcelona: SE > Factory
    Corinth: Worker > Court
    Seville: Uni > Infantry
    Salamanca: Inf
    Knossos: Worker > arty

    Turn 7 (1385 AD):

eCav kills Spear at Tlacopan and gets a Leader! I'll use him on Wall Street once Smith's comes in.

    IBT:

The Greeks want peace. They'll pay all their gold, but they won't cough up their govt. techs.

    Pollution strikes Const again
    Athens: Workers
    Barbaropolis: Infs
    Murcia: Factory > Uni

    Turn 8 (1390 AD):

    Short-rush two more Stock Exchanges.

    IBT:

    Madrid: SE > Uni
    Toledo: SE > Uni
    Salamanca: Infs
    Herakleia: Worker > arty

    Turn 9 (1395 AD):

Move Workers. I'm avoiding combat until our Leader is used up.

    IBT:

D'oh! Aztec Horse catches a couple of un-covered slaves.

    Const: Smith's > Wall Street
    Thermo: Worker > Arty
    Barbaropolis: Infs
    Hlobane: Lib > Arty
    Delphi: Workers
    Santiago: Duct > Mkt
    Ereen: Duct > Mkt

    Turn 10 (1400 AD):

    Rush Wall Street.
Kill two Spears in Tlacopan and take the city -- this time, I don't raze it.
Kill another two Spears in Malinalco and take THAT city!

    Short-rush Uni in Toledo

    Notes:

Oh, Murcia is about to riot -- I forgot to fix that before saving. Other than that, the war is going well; the Aztecs are on the run. We can make peace with Greece anytime .... I held off because they've been accumulating gold.

Research is closer to 6-turn than 4-turn. Some Uni builds in core cities should help with that. I've been disbanding new Infantry builds to help speed those along.

Easy to lose track of, isn't it? I was scared for a moment when I saw the update, I thought I might have been supposed to play again. I'll take it within a week, but I'll give time for either Bowsling or Sparthage to take it if they can.

AFAIK Sparthage lost interest in Civ 3 (at least, I haven't seen any posts from him recently), and Bowsling just got back from vacation -- he'll probably need a few days to get organized. At this point, we're cruising to victory, with future culture builds taking 2-3 turns off the win date at most.

    More like 35-40 :)

35 turns will be 1575 AD, and that was the "perfect luck" scenario in my spreadsheet. We're already guaranteed to take longer than that (though not MUCH longer).

I have played halfway, however, I won't have access to the save until Sunday or Monday. Not a whole lot has happened, but:
    - Greece spent their gold! :pissed:
    - The entirety of the continent is ours, with the exception of Ottoman-held Swazi.

Hire a clown in Murcia to pacify the population

Shift production in Toledo to generate more food while still finishing
    the university in one turn

Ditto for Salamanca, but on a smaller scale

Constantinople is one heck of a city!

    IBT:
Greeks land a longbowman outside of Valencia Aztec caravel approaches Ibabanago

    Toledo Unviersity>Infantry

    Salamanca Infantry>Infantry

    Turn 2:

    Combustion>Mass Production

Put science at 90%, bringing MP in in 4, with a deficit of 27 gpt

    Turn 4:

    Constantinople Stock Exchange>Army

    Toledo Infantry>wealth

    Salamanca Infantry>Infantry
