Sorry for the delay, I was working all week and then my network's switch died yesterday and the internet was out for a bit - it seems to be back up with the stand-in hub, just not nearly as fast :(

Anyhoo, looks like I get to do some warmongering here, which rarely happens to me in SGs for some reason (check my last two turnsets - nada!) So, we're going for a rapid conquest of Huayana's lands, and then what?

IHT - 1448 AD:

Mop up an Incan Longbowman, then hit enter.

T1 - 1454 AD:

A catapult attacks us between turns, pointlessly getting itself killed. Advance on Vitcos, which we'll raze.

Hmm, that could be tricky to capture without any Frigates to bombard it.

T2 - 1460 AD:

Not a lot happening. There's a lot of units in Huayana's capital:

Raze Vitcos, at the cost of 2 cats and a rather unfortunate Knight - sigh.

T5 - 1478 AD:

Chemistry researched, start Replaceable Parts. Turn off research for a couple of turns to pay for some upgrades.
Gandhi finishes Taj Mahal. He's running away with this a bit.

T7 - 1490 AD:

Huayana thinks he's hard enough and has a go at our stack outside Cuzco - a bit of splash damage done but it costs him a few units. We're whittling well here.

Divert some units to raze a pointless city of his in the tundra in the north, another stack is onboard our Galleons and headed for his northeastern lands (the fertile ones).

T8 - 1496 AD:

Raze Vilcabamba in the North - we can't afford to pay upkeep on rubbishy cities like that one.

T9 - 1502 AD:

Advance some troops.

T10 - 1508 AD:

March onward. We've got an enormous stack outside Cuzco, probably enough to take it next turn, and its defences have been reduced to 0. There's a lot of units near Machu Picchu in the north, but no catapults thanks to my failure to check what was in the stack I loaded onto the boats. Gah! The stack of them behind the main force can head up there, though.

I got the save downloaded. I'll verify that all cities are on military production unless it makes sense to build something else.
 
I was building a few banks at the end of my turn which were badly needed, but agree that we need to keep the units pouring out.

Ok lots of stuff to post here. I took quite a few casualties here but I think we're still in great shape. If anyone sees any major mistakes please point them out so I can improve on them.

After looking at the save in 1508 AD, I decided against changing any of the production because of our large army overseas and I felt that the money making improvements would aid us in the long run. Most of the cities were building Grocers and Banks. I also noticed that Moscow was pretty unhappy with our war so I orded up two temples.

There are 3 Incan cities left. One is already prepped with bombardments and the other stack of doom just moved next to the other one on the continent. I wasn't sure how to approach the last one on that island since we lack marines and wasn't clear if we could invade it from the sea or not with what we have.

I know I'm not techinically playing anymore, but please don't include the entire combat log for each fight. Saying your mace defeats a longbow with x health left at 73% odds is sufficient enough.

However things are looking good guys, keep it up

Tried to post last night, but it wasn't letting me load the forum.

Only about halfway done, but it's not looking too bad. Had to drop to 30/20 coz of war weariness (which should be better, now that monseiur Capac is gone), but I eliminated him in 1559? I think. I managed to complete the campaign without losses (except for suicide cats).

I'm going to develop for both rifling and steel, and start sending our soldiers down into FDR's territory. From there, we can strike out against Saladin (using the open borders). I'll display a tenative battle plan. We are building frigates, etc.

Uh, yeah the reason is someone had previously promoted them to have a 25% bonus versus archers. I assumed that this was the reason for the promotion. I also figured it would be better to lose a crossbowman over a maceman as they cost more.

I think I only did that in the attack on Cuzco and it was a couple of times. I noticed the cats stopped causing damage to multiple units and that was when I switched to the crossbowmen.

Well you're nuts if you think I wrote all that myself. :p

I just copied the log from the same page where the file is uploaded to save time on record keeping. Since I take it that it really bothers you, I won't do it again.
 
@Oso: it makes sense then. What was up with the cats? Were they not doing collateral anymore, or were they hitting?

I should be able to finish this tonight. I'll play until 1577, to even things out, I think.
 
Maranthon Session: I think it took me a few hours. I want to fit the entire report into one post, so no smilies. *looks sad*

The first thing I noticed was this:

Argh, what a blight on the landscape! This must be removed! However, we have open borders with FDR,so we should attack Saladin first (not to mention that Saladin is weaker). However, at the time of the turn, I was all gung ho for going after Roosevelt.

So I clicked around, decided that we should let all the infrastructure builds complete, and then convert to building frigates, galleons and the like (riflemen once we get it). Steel should come after rifling: cannons will only expedite the process.

1547- A very good year. Gandhi tried to cut us a bad deal (marble for gold; I said no; he's already buddy-buddy). I was angry, so I did this.

It must be said, however, that OSO set me up. Talk about an alley-oop!

After this coup (but not really), I queuded (sic; it think it might ruin the conssonance, if misspelled) up a settler in Thebes, coz we need to fill in cities to by pass domination. He settled Giza, up in the north of the Incan continent.

I then began to move troops over to attack Corihuayrachina (the island city), while moving the rest of our troops down south. Wow, do we have a lot of them! Therefore, I decided that I will only use the really, really good units, massing down south to attack the Inca (6 xp+).

To add to this, FDR and Saladin don't have gunpowder (FDR got it at the end of the turns; I got nationalism from Gandhi after we got rifling, to see if he had MT, but forgot to check)

I was orignally going to attack FDR first; but realized that we should manipulate him. We have more than enough units to take stone age Saladin (well, medieval Saladin). After we conquer him, we should turn and hit FDR immediately, upgrading CR maces to rifles will city pillaging cash. But enough of the strategizing, on to the ... war.

1550 rolled around, and I had to drop our science to 30% and raise the culture tax, because Gandhi's horrendous tech pace has now achieved him democracy. So, he adopted Universal Suffrage and Emancipation. Go figger. However, our despotic ways caused Sinian the Great Engineer to rise to prominence. he's chilling next to Thebes.

Not much happened until 1556, when I finally realized that we could use frigates, and bombarded Cori a lil' bit. Then I sent in the incredible grenadiers!

With the inca gone, I finished the first session, cause I was tie-urd. I resumed play the next day, and began marshalling our forces for the Arabian Invasion.

I think the Golden laurels are out of hand for this time around, as we only have a few turnsets left. however, we can totally win!

I prolli should have gone ahead and declared war, but I thought we might need more men present. More galleons and frigates won't hurt, for when we attack the southern, coastal cities. It will expedite our victory.

I was kind of a little... wierded out after the Incans won. So the staging might not have been the best.

We need 400 or so more plots to win. There's a settler in a galleon en rout to the island east of Inca. We need to place our FP. please, bombard me with questions. I'll answer later tonight.

I'll start the invasion against Sally with that batch while sending more batches over as well as build more batches..... right. Ok, let's do that then.
 
There are several frigates in the area. However, I think that we might need more suicide cats, which should be remedied by the time we get to steel (cannons tend to last well).
 
Turn 0 (preflight) - Checked around, everything looks good. Will start cats production once current production finishes. Realized that we have a bunch of Frigates around Saladin's territory, but have no idea what to do with them other than raze fish tiles :confused:
Turn 1 - Move some troops around. Settler in Galley heads to marked island.
Turn 2 - More troop movements. Set a new rally point closer to the take-over island. Some cities finished infra production, started on cats and rifles.
Turn 3 - More troop movements. I'll declare once this second batch is close to the second city. What're our plans for Sinan btw?
Turn 4 - Sally cancelled fur for gems deal. Then he sends out a galleon loaded with 2 longbows and a settler heading for the tiny island next to his coast. And the closest frigate is at least 2 turns away, which will be too late to get there. Luckily we have 2 caravels close by, so I did the only logical thing. I declared, and sank it with one caravel :) And I figured out what those frigates can do :p Now I feel stupid, but I guess I never really had a cross country war before.
Turn 5 - We take Bagdad with a loss of a suicide cat. The attack on Medina begins with our cats whittling their defenses down.
Turn 6 - Whittled Medina's defense down some more.
Turn 7 - We take Medina. Going for Narjan next after our troops heal up a bit.
Turn 8 - Built some troops, ordered more troops.
Turn 9 - Sally sent a stack after our troops in Medina, we took it down with a loss of a suicide cat.
Turn 10 - Got Steel, started producing cannons instead of cats, and building up more troops at home. Since Sally took our spot, I'm sending the settler to the "fur" site down south with Ghandi. Next player can start the attack on Narjan with the healed troops. Sally only got 2 iron sites and Narjan is one of them, taking these irons would cripple him.

Good job. How does FDR's military situation look? We should try to take him out before he gets a useful gunpowder tech. How close is he to military tradition?

EDIT: We should get a group going after Saladin's island, and position troops to takeover FDR's colonies.
