SGOTM 03 - Gypsy Kings

Hi all,

I've been away for a while and just caught up with the readings.
@ dV: good job on the recruitment field!

I agree that SGOTM1 shadowplay can be put on hold, now that the SGOTM4 is about to begin. As soon as our team's new thread opens, we'll have a lot to discuss. Meanwhile, I have to catch up with G(W)OTM single-play.

Nice Job dV!!

I am usually a mouse only player, and have always wished I could see the diplo screen before answering demands from the AI. Today my wish was granted, I think ... (from Memphis Blues thread)

"I'll keep an eye on diplomacy - the day I found that I could hit F4 before I had to answer someone's demand was a good day."

Am I the only one not aware of this? I'll have to think of the keyboard more often! ;)

How about this ... rather than smash our SGOTM 1 effort, maybe we should each set up our own practice game with the SGOTM 4 settings, and then compare notes? We would probably always be ahead of the real game, although no guarantee that we simulate the relative position of skinny G in any of them.

blast it da vinci, I was hoping you didn't see that :p...I had no clue either. I've always just scrolled over the list of AIs in the corner to see their relations with me. Its very nice to know I can hit F4 though!

Sorry dV, I knew but never thought to say anything about it. On another side note, I figured out how to load from boat to boat in open waters. With the 2 boats on the same square, you can activate the ground troops and use the load command to transfer to the other boat. Try it, you'll like it!!

Well GK, it looks as if battle is about to be resumed. Good luck in the Battle of the Bacon Laurels (you'll need it!!)

Agent Tamborine and the GIA forcasters have now moved Flying Vanillas off threat list. At 1100 AD they are 158 turns to our date, but some 270 turns from MM.

New standings are;

CFR 860
Memphis 1625

1. Murky Waters 1688
2. Gypsy Kings 1766
3. Real Ms. Beyond 1824

4. Geezers 1835

Flying V 1100
Smurkz 1460
Choko 1250
CDZ 1682

FBG 1280

We probably have a lock on the tin cup (4th). If Memphis falters, then the Bronze. Memphis thinks they are 20 turns from UN, which would give them 33 turns to get a winning vote ahead of us. That is probably six victory votes for us to dodge (32/4 = 8 votes but 2 are sec gen). Pray that free religion breaks out !:religion:

Hi Gypsies. Sorry I've only just noticed your victory, but a lethal combination of Real Life and SGOTM 4 start up has distracted me somewhat.

Congratulations :goodjob:, and good luck in SGOTM 4

No apologies needed, since
Well finished, Gypsy Kings :goodjob:
was posted Jan 27 2007 as post # 524 in our thread. With so much to manage, easy to understand how you might have forgotten the previous posting of congrats. ;)

Actually, I was wondering when I saw your post if we had commited some faux pas and were getting a reprimand. A second congrats was a relief to see!

dV

AH! That long a go, huh? I went back a bit, but didn't find my post, sa assumed I'd missed your finish.

I obviously picked a bad week to give up glue sniffing  (miniscule prize for spotting the reference!)

I think we were the first vanilla team and second team over all to finish in real time. To bad that doesn't count for anything!

The search this thread function should make it easier to find those old congrats posts that may have been forgotten, should this come up in the future. ;)

hm...us geezers are starting to feel left out...we were never congratulated by Alan or Gyathaar :( we must not have finished very well at all... ;)

Actually I havent congratulated any team this time.. mainly because some teams was watching for my posts as a indication that the team had finished

The workaround for that is to PM the captain with the congrats, and they can then post it in the thread, retaining the state secret! :goodjob:

News flash! First UN victory vote for Memphis Blues only got three other civs voting for them, they only have about half the votes that they need. Free religion broke out in Egypt, among other things.

Maybe diplomacy in their world will be as tricky as in ours, and we can hang on to the bronze. Stay tuned.

*giggles*

I got this funny picture in my head of a breaking news report on CNN and I want to know if you drag your catapult along with you when you go on location for news flash reporting. ;)

Well, it looks like you guys have about one more Memphis Blues turnset to sweat this one out. Too bad Gyathaar jinxed you, though, but I won't go into details...
