I have made a few marines, also promoted a mace with amphib thinking maybe that old SGOTM 04 method might work, with a twist ... attack, kill troops, but don't raze ... leave one defender. If he takes it back he thins out his troops.

He made a big move on Madrid, spent some art and cannons to repel it, he took a big power hit and thus the gap is much smaller now.

I think you have the weapons you need to really kick his but now!

Both Toku and Cyrus have all 5 casings and most of the thrusters.

I played to 1959, game crashed at that point. The save is up, I was tired and very sloppy, should have waited for more SAM's.

Anyone who wants to pick it up go ahead!!!!
 
Have not had a chance to see the save before going in to work, but if we are getting chewed up by gunships and artillery if we invade by land, maybe going the amphibious route is the way to go ... with a big enough navy, battleships bombbard defenses to 0, artillery suffer the penalty for amphib invasion to do their collateral damage, then marines and tanks go in for the kill. Probably have to raze the cities to kill Toku fast, or Cyrus will get off into space. We can increase our % of pop if we make pop disappear!

That approach worked well in SGOTM 04, where we could sail up to a city unmolested, take defenses down in 1 turn with sea bombardment, and attack and raze the city in the same turn before we were counterattacked or city was reinforced. Left one unit in the rubble to be killed off, while the stack moved onwart to the next coastal target.

If the land invasion is not working, then consider this sea plan.

Hey guys. I have a problem. I finally got BTS but trying to install it the installation aborts when trying to check the directX version. The system just exits the installation shield and does nothing.

If I remember right there was a discussion about problems with BTS but I can´t find it anymore. Could you please give me some advices or show me where I can find the adecuate posts. Gracias amigos...
 
No, not the game itself. The Team Listing Board on the Forum with the graph shows us having dropped to zero points.

Lehm, are you in a position to play right now? If not, perhaps I can run with it a bit.
 
Maybe the crash R1 mentioned is the reason for the problem with the graph? And would help to know if/how the crash affected the uploaded game.
 
No sorry I can´t play right now. I have to go in 30 minutes and that´s not sufficient to play a turn set.

Oh, and could you please have a look at post #825. I don´t know how to solve it.
 
I'll try to run the game for a while then, since it's up and I can take some time. It's admin day for my company and I'm waiting for info to arrive so I can process it. If that zero points listing indicates that we're toast, I should find that out quickly enough.

Don't know anything about BTS. If it's a question of the DirectX version, maybe making sure you have the latest DirectX independently of it will do the trick. From what you wrote, though, it sounds like BTS is going to check it in any case and then bomb.
 
I just sent this to AlanH, "Hi Alan, I just noticed that our score was at zero on the update page. I uploaded a save late last night, that save was recovered after my machine crashed IBT, I loaded the last autosave, save and uploaded, is there a problem?" I crashed about 2:30AM, and since I was playing so poorly anyway, I decided it would just be better to stop and let someone else have it. I didn't have to recreate any moves or anything as it froze IBT as I was selecting the new builds at the start of the turn. Biggest mistake(s) was not waiting for more SAM's, and not running some 0% Sci to gain enough cash to mass upgrade the cannon to Artillery. About 5 turns in Toku got Mech Inf, I should have pulled back and upgraded, planned my attacks better. That is why I quit when I did!!!!:sad: :sad:

@Lehm, try the HoF mod thread, that's where I get my best fixes. I believe I had similar issues whe I first got Bts, I had to change some things in the folder directories IIRC.
 
I have seen 0 score on the submit page before on other teams. It surely because the crash. Someone must ask what you must do in such cases. Just to continue or the admins must do something to continue.

Alan is likely to reply that you should have replayed the lost turn, as your quote to him suggests that you lost a turn (crash IBT). In reality you crashed at very begining of your new turn, before you made any moves and after the autosave.

We defeated mech inf with overwheming number of tanks and art in the past, but this might be a reason to try the amphibious tactic. The ability to launch the attack unmolested is critical.

As mentioned previously in the Maintenance thread, when you load an SGOTM 5 save the scores are all zero until you play it. If you immediately save it and upload it, the zero scores end up in the database and show on the progress. I'll fix it, but it would have been better to upload the autosave. There was no need to resave it.

My problem was lack of defensive units, my stacks were getting hammered by Toku's free Art. But I think it is mostly used up now. We could still upgrade some galleys to transports and go for Amphib tactics, it may be a better option.
 
Toku is offering peace for 2680 gold. We took and destroyed the piddly town near the border and have captured Kyoto. He is counterattacking and we are bringing up fresh troops but most of the ones in Kyoto are healing. We have a number of red cross units, though, so they will heal fairly quickly.

Can't save it while the negotiation screen is up. We have 85 turns left.

I haven't tried to counteroffer yet. Keep fighting or make temporary peace?

As far as dialup or cell service...I haven't used dialup for 9 years :eek: I'm not sure I could handle it lol. I think the problem may be my laptop this time, actually...my wife hasn't complained to me about internet not working on her desktop computer. So once I have the money, I'll get it checked out. As far as cell service...it wouldn't be something I can afford...I pay a total of $35 for my DSL, home phone, and cell phone. It would cost a lot more than just $59 to change over the verizon or sprint to get cell internet...and unfortunately, I just don't have the money(still in school for 3 more semesters...maybe after that I'd have the cash to do that :p)
