SGOTM 05 - Mac Team

i was wanting to get sailing first too so i shall

i'll update when i finish

having problem loading save going to uninstall and reinstall civ i saw that that was one solution i'll let you know

Make sure that you have the 'revised' mod installed! Alan_H has had to update our version of the mod several times. The latest mod is here.

Just copy that folder into your mods folder, and you should be good to go.

Please let us know if that worked or if that didn't work, so we can figure this out :)

Regarding cities, if we go with something like the dot map I posted, that blue should be the last city we settle. My advise would be green, purple, pink or green, pink, purple. I think we want green first to get the stone to help with the wonders we want to build. Anything else is a distraction right now.

Peter, I had some trouble with attachments. I don't know if it's Safari, but often it just sat there doing nothing. Sometimes, it just attached almost instantly. Alan, do you have any insight?

Yes, I have had trouble attaching images into forums posts, as well as the save. That's one of the reasons I use imageshack.us, and copy their clickable thumbnail into my post.

I completely agree that we should settle the stone city first.

I have occasionally seen it just hang on "Uploading". If that happens I close the Manage Attachments window, click the button and try again, and it then typically goes through.

There have been a few occasions recently when the GOTM server has gone off line. I believe that is the same physical server that hosts the attachments on this forum, so it may be worth checking that you can get to the GOTM home page when you have trouble uploading attachments - it may just be the server.

ya i have the correct mod
i thought that was the problem but it wasn't so i uninstalled and reinstalled no luck yet
if someone wants to take my turn set they can im still spending much of my free time laying down (dam infections) but i'm gonna give a try later today
i'll check in so i don't replay a turnset if can get it to work

any suggestions would be great but there aren't to many on the thred for problems

Could you be more specific about the problem you're experiencing?

At what point during the loading sequence do you encounter a problem?

What changed after you reinstalled cIV?

Were you able to load an earlier save?

Can you load 1.61 saves?

The more specific you can be, the more likely it is that we can track down the problem :)

go ahead and play dojo

it tells me i have modified assets that are locked in the save (only the mac team save) and it shuts me out

everything eles in the game is the same and works fine

well atleast i didn't miss much

I built the worker after bronze working came in so that we could chop the settler. There wasn't anything else the worker could have done.... I hope that makes sense :)

After chopping, our worker can start to build a road to the stone city, to speed the settler along to his location. The worker should be on the stone, ready to quarry, on the same turn the settler founds the city.

Does that mean we didn't (or aren't) chopping the settler? Whoever does the next set should chop the settler ASAP. Did the worker really sit around for 13 turns doing nothing, or did we at least put a mine on the pig hill? (Can't look at the save until tonight.)

Also, we need wheel to hook up the stone. What's the point of settling a second city if we can't hook up the resources?

a_man, where did you install the mod? Are you loading it automatically via the .ini file?

Yep, he did. I never mine a hill in this situation. Unsure of how long it would take to pin the pigs though. In retrospect, it should've been done. As for the chop, held off so there could be overflow for the next build, that's why I posted the number of turns for the chop and how many are remaining on the settler.

Mining the pig hill would have had the benefit of getting the settler out a few turns sooner, as would chopping. We are then free to pasture the mined hill later on, having gotten an extra 2 :hammers: for all those turns.

Right now, there's nothing more important than getting the second city founded as soon as possible, so overflow hammers from a chop are exactly what we should avoid: We need all those hammers in the setter.

We should be able to get Wheel in about 5 turns at this point. So when the next turnset starts, let's check to see how long Wheel takes, and switch from Sailing to Wheel that many turns before the quarry on the stone is done. We'll get wheel just in time for our worker to connect the quarry :)

OK, if no one else says that they've grabbed the save today, I will try to get it tomorrow morning and play then.

My plan would be: chop settler, settle stone/clam, hook up stone, build pyramids in capital and stonehenge in second city. I will probably switch research to wheel, then finish sailing.

Feedback appreciated.
