SGOTM 07 - Chokonuts

Great news on Pyramids. We have it and are generating GE points as we speak. The culture may enable us to get the fur back.

I would swap workboat to a second warrior or a scout to try and get an idea of thelandmass, as that will play a part in picking a PA partner. We can camp the deer to get a second food supply to enable growth.

Then a granary and then a library (with a hired scientist and swap to rep as soon as it completes), if the scout/warrior completes before Pottery completed I'd start the workboat then.

Pottery, Writing, Alphabet for techs.

Phase 1 has been completed...good to get Pyramids. Will we revolt to Rep once we have CoL or earlier?

Since Asoka and Washington are Hindu, hopefully it will spread to us...and we can spread it to Elizabeth as well.

With these food resources we should probably try and get to drama pretty quick to build the Globe...we don't want the happiness limit slowing us down for too long.

good turns guys, but Oz, technically, we're not getting GE points as we speak since no one's playing. geez, it's a mystery how you're able to play the game at all! Stick with me, folks, i'll lead us to my 2nd Wooden Spoon! ;) :)

:rotfl:

I would do granary first (which is almost always my first city build ever since Civ1). The layout of the land isn't going to change if we stick an explorer unit in after the gran, plus the storage of the food (which we have tons of) can begin that much faster.

I also think Drama should be high on the list. Might be nice to try and take advantage of the IND trait and beeline through Lit for the TGLibrary.

With representation we won't need Drama for a while, I'd wait until we can trade for it. Oxford Uni is more important than Globe. Next project should be Great Library I think.

The point about knowing the lay of the land is that if we can bribe someone to declare on Tokogawa after Alphabet we should but we need to know who is his neighbour and who has the best lands.

WE should also try to meet all civs on our continent before Alpha to max our tech trade opportunities. With Religion, Representation and a trade of crabs we can get happy cap to 9 so no immediate beeline for Drama needed we should concentrate on Lit for Glib and NE then Education for Uni/Oxford.

I imagine the Pyramids will help us get that deer back from the Americans. I can go next if thats alright, probably play tomorrow afternoon. Do we have some discussion now of whats going on wtih our build order, etc....

Yeah - you guys are right about drama...just thought I'd throw it out there.

Since we are trying to get Lit pretty quick here, do you think it might be worth it to then grab music and see if we can get the free Artist...or is that a really stupid idea? I never play deity and I'm not sure how fast that goes...or if we even want the Artist polluting GE points this early.

As for Music, all great People have value when merged under Representation but Music is outside of our research path as I see it and we won't want to deviate too much from our immediate goals (Great Library, Oxford University, Communism) so I would't chase it.

Great point by MD on maximising trade partners for Alphabet.

Anyone got anything to add/delete/change to the below suggestions.

Suggested Reseach Path: Pottery, Writing, Alphabet, Mysticism, Polytheism, Literature

Those in Italics maybe trade for...

Suggested Builds: scout, granary, library, Great Library

Other: Employ 2 scientists when we get a library (change back when building GL). Change to representation when we reach happy limit oir employ specialist. Try to explore our continent before Alphabet. Sign OB with everyone but Tokogawa when we get Writing.

Sorry about being awol. I can catch up by tommorrow, post some thoughts and play tommorrow night, unless someone else wants to go.

Will crunch out 10 this afternoon folks.

Make sure you both don't play. Glenmetz, i think, posted his got it first, so hopefully you'll see this ngraner ~

Turn 0-2: Built Workboat and researched Pottery as was set up in the save file.
Turn 3: Started Granary, switched from Stone to Deer. Granary in 6. Started Writing in 7.
Turn 4: Workboat begins fishing Crab, but we continue to work the Deer. Worker begins road on the Deer.
Turn 5: zzz.
Turn 6: Worker moves to Silver.
Turn 7: Asoka asks for open borders, and we agree. Worker begins to mine Silver.
Turn 8: Switched from Marble to Crab to grow in 1 turn rather than 2.
Turn 9: Grew to size 4 and began working the Marble.
Turn 10: Granary complete and Writing in. Switched to Library and Alphabet, but a Scout can be selected instead. Growth in 4. The Silver should give us the needed happiness and we still have Representation in our pocket.

Yes, we need a scout out there as soon as poss, I was under impression that discussion had leaned towards changing from wrkboat to scout at start of turns. If second crabs are online then we should look to trade this for another resource I remember from my turns that gold was available, hopefully this is still the case. If we get this along with silver we should be able to get to size six at the moment, with still representation and religion in our pocket.

I've been away for the weekend, I should be able to play later today.

I'm going to switch to the scout, and then Library afterwards. GL after library, if I get that far.
Research, try to trade for Mystecism and Polytheism, then pick Literature.
