SGOTM 07 - Chokonuts

Preturn: Switch to scout. Open borders to Washington.

Most advanced cultures: Asoka is 2. Elizabeth 4.

Turn 1: Beijing scout -> Library.

Met Hyana Capac, open borders.

Turn 2:

Turn 3: Met Frederick, open borders. Tokugawa is behind Washington and Asoka.

Turn 4: Met Isabella and Ceasar, open borders.

Turn 5: Silver connected. Connecting Sheep.

Turn 6:

Turn 7: Met Kublai Kahn, open borders.

Turn 8: Library -> Another scout. Two scientists.

Arg Frederick wants our crab. I want to keep it for a trade, but none have been possible so far. I give it, for now, don't want to make him unhappy.

Turn 9:

Turn 10: Met Alexander, open borders. Scout -> Axeman.

Postturn: Axe is in 5 turns, alphabet in 4. The furs has gone from 51% to 50% American during my turns.
Asoka is ready to declare on Tokugawa, we just can't pay for it.
None of the civs that I met, have a higher score than Asoka and Washington.

Don't think we needed a second scout but no great deal. Can this scout look at the English lands?

Much bigger deal is that we're stagnated for growth and have 2 scientists employed but we didn't switch to Representation, we should have done this immediately on achieving either of those two conditions. Slavery will be a free change as well, so we should change to this as well but don't use it unless in an emergency. We should then work the deer instead of the marble.

Whoever can play next (Terminator glenmetz?) should stop at Alphabet so we can assess our options (and finish their turns after). Hopefully we can bribe Asoka into declaring on Tokogawa. Don't trade until the team can have a look at the options.

We should pick up our first GP in 7 turns, most probably an engineer, this should be merged. If it is a scientist Academy.

Remember to cancel the crabs deal when we can (giving in was the right thing to do unless it was Tokogawa).

Asoka looks like the best option for PA at this stage as he can grab the most land by defeating Tokogawa, followed by Elizabeth who probably has the tech lead (already has Alphabet).

If we're going to build an axe, should build a barracks first.

If we get Engineer should we not use him to complete GLib or NE either will significantly speed up our Great Person production. Liz could already be teching towards Lit and beat us to Glib.

Is it wise to wait for Alpha before switching civs as we are only 4 away. If we lose a turn it gives chance for AI's to trade with Liz which means less trades for us?? If we can save a turn off Alpha from extra beakers/growth fine but with only 4 left not sure we can.

At most it would cost us Alphabet one turn slower but will give us more beakers overall and quicker growth. I don't think 1 turn will make a real difference in getting Alphabet.

As we haven't heard from Terminator or glenmetz for a while, we should go back to the top of the roster, cubbies are you able to play (remember stop at Alphabet)?

Roster:

cubbiesin08 - UP
pholkhero
Ozbenno
Mighty Dwaarf
ngraner42
McArine
Terminator3k????
glenmetz????

I would merge the engineer. In OCC, I generally merge any GP we get except for the first GS, which becomes an Academy. With representation and OCC, the effects of merging are much more powerful than bulbing or rushing wonders. We get 3 hammers and 6 beakers (before multipliers) for the rest of the game.

Generally I agree with Oz they should be merged apart from Academy. As this is Deity though and Glib and NE are going to give huge boosts to our output I would be tempted to burn a GE on one of these. I found that this game is to be a science race and later on in the game we spend long periods with nothing to build so maybe the extra sci and GP points these two wonders provide sooner rather than later would be more beneficial than the extra hammers. Would also save forests for health reasons allowing our city to become bigger and more productive.

Either way Alpha will be in first so we should play till then and we can discuss more later when first GP is born.

Agreed! As long as someone actually plays :mischief:

I wouldn't ever burn a GE on National Epic, industrious plus marble means it won't take long. Would maybe consider the GLibrary but I even think that having a merged GE is better than GLibrary (as we will be researching SciMeth early hopefully).

I won't be able to play for another 36 hours so please don't wait on me to play.

I would also say to merge all great people early...then we will get plenty more later.

i can play today.

up to alpha right?

will merge teh GE. also, merged GPs don't give GPPs though right?

4 turns later . . .

and if everyone could link the save in the thread, that would be cool

research, also, on Maths. Merging Great People, too, correct?

Here is your Session Turn Log from 1600 BC to 1440 BC:

Turn 60, 1600 BC: Christianity has been founded in a distant land!

Turn 61, 1560 BC: Xi Ling Shi has been born in a far away land!

Turn 62, 1520 BC: Nabu-rimanni has been born in Delhi!

Turn 63, 1480 BC: You have discovered Alphabet!

Can we please swap to Representation right away? Then work the deer and start growing to our cap. We're losing research ever turn we don't have it.

Unfortunately the only tech we have to trade is Alphabet. Lizzie has marble, so we need to get a wriggle on to get to Lit first (the wasted non-rep turns may haunt us yet). I would switch to rep NOW, trade Izzy Alphabet for Mysicism and AH (she founded Buddhism, so least likel to habe Poly), then when we come out of revolt, trade Alphabet around to everyone we can (hopefull spread over 2-3 turns we can get some good value), and then switch to Literature and rush to GL. If Lizzie doesn't have Lit, we will win the race. If she does, we may not. I'm still not sure about rushing the GL with the GE if Lizzie has Lit, what do people think. I think we lose too much long term but it will help short term.

BTW, do people agree with my assessment that Asoka is our best PA partner, followed b Lizzie? We should look to trade as much as possible with these two. If Asoka can take over Tokogawa's land we will be sweet.

No-one will declare on Tokogawa for Alphabet, we'll have to see what other techs we can get to push that along.

Tech wise after Literature, straight to Liberalism? Priesthood (should be able to get in an Alphabet trade), CoL, CS, Paper, Education, Philosophy (hopefully in a trade) and Liberalism. We will need to trade up to Chemistry or Astronomy (more likel) to get Sci Method from Lib, so look out for trades along this path.

Our GP probablility has grown to 67/32 GE/GS.

I think we should merge the GE, if we focus on getting GL, and bringing in a few chops to help, I think we shouldn't have problems getting it.

Asoka and Lizzie would be my choices as well.

And I'd push for liberalism.
