SGOTM 07 - Chokonuts

I agree on skipping Fishing with the extra food tiles we discovered. Otherwise, things look good. I still am not sure on the WB issue. I just don't know that the extra food is worth hammer investment this early, but will concede to the group on this.

Masonry > Wheel > BW > Hunting sounds good, as well as the build order. I think we should stick in another WB before the Granary (whip? is that not so good in OCC) > Library is good. Better to get that Gran in first.

I think quarry stone > road stone > chop plains hills > chop grass forest near river if needed > camp deer > pasture Sheep > camp beaver mine silver? (at least we'll get the happy from this).

I would try a save again.

And i can get this right now!

The work boat gives us the extra food to work the quarry and still grow and as we're financial, the 3g from the crabs is great as well.

Don't know if we need a second work boat. Our happy cap is going to be quite limited and we probably want to work the crabs (4f3g) and deer (4f2h) plus the mines (or specialists). We'll need it eventually but I'd get the granary and library online first. I'd leave the sheep for now (don't want to get AH until we trade for it).

BTW, we could move the warrior out a little bit to the borders of the neighbours in the east to see who is there (hopefully Asoka, not Tokogawa) and get back before we get unhappy at his absence.

Whipping is a definate no-no in OCC unless we have huge unhapiness issues or need emergency defenders.

all good points, Oz, and ones I didn't consider! :goodjob:

Wasn't much to do here.

3600: swapped to the WB
3440: I went back to the worker
3400 Worker > WB; Hinduism FIDL
3360: Masonry > Wheel (7 turns)
3280: GW revolted to slavery
3240: WB > Pyramids
3200: stopped at a round number; played 11; would've like to've gone to the end of wheel but no biggie. quarry done in 2, wheel done in 3 and we grow in 1. We might be able to MM to finish wheel a turn early once we grow.

And Da Save!

Did we meet anyone else or see who lives to our east? Do we know who has founded any religions?

I should be able to open the save to have a peek inside but all seems to be going OK. I'd say we work the quarry and the crabs, quarry the marble and when we grow to three, work crabs, marble and stone, while we chop the Pyramids. Once they're done we should work the deer and start growing again.

Already I think we can say that we try to get on the "good" side of Washington, Asoka and Elizabeth and ignore Tokogawa. This means opening borders with them as soon as we can (ie the turn Writing arrives), trading a resource with them if possible and tech trading with them. We should explore the countryside with a scout (built quickly after Pyramids somewhere) to see who of these three will have the greatest number of cities and then try to buddy up even better to them. If Tokogawa is blocked from us, we should also look at bribing one of these three to declare on him (hopefully whoever we've decided is the best choice) and joining in, as soon as we can after Alphabet arrives. In my test game Lizzie eliminated Toko, by trading our partner up to maces, we should be able to ensure the same result here.

Fixed the problem, had to download a different GOTM DLL for use with the HoF mod.

Anyway, opened the save.

Good news is that Washington has essentially sealed us off, meaning we have free reign with Tokogawa, whereever he is.

Asoka has founded Hinduism and Buddhism FIADL. Hopefully that spreads around us and we have a big happy Buddhist family.

Is good that Wash has screened us off but he is a bit too close with his nearby city may end up taking furs from us. I think hunting maybe worth the wuick detour to allow us to camp up the deer. Overall the 4 extra health (with harbour for fish) compared to Oz's test game should be a real bonus!!. To min time on mids we should work Crabs. Stone at size two and marble at size three then back to growth once mids complete. I think we may have got worker earlier due to the deer than in test game so he will more than likely have to wait a turn before roading stone.

yes, clearly we should focus on hammers until the pyramids completes. those dbl-prod boni on chopped trees for wonders will help out as well. after the marble, clear the one just NW of it, then the one NE of the city ~ should work out real well for us.

Clearly writing, scientists & representation are the next short-term goals, i think.

is there absolutely NO set order, or does the first round set the order??

We start at 3200BC. We are at size 1 and Pyramids at 147 turns.

I press enter and magically we are at size 2 and Pyramids are 73 turns (goes to 44 turns as I work the recently completed stone quarry).

The Wheel comes in. Bronze Working selected.

Pyramids down to 23 turns as road to quarry is done.

We finish with 2 turns til worker completes marble quarry, 3 turns to size 3, 5 turns to Bronze Working and 18 turns to Pyramids.

I think next techs should be Hunting, Pottery and Writing

Worker should start chopping, immediately after BW completes. Working the Marble once we grow to 3 should chop a turn of BW as well.

Washington has converted to Hinduism as well.

Spoiler :

Turn 22, 3120 BC: You have discovered The Wheel!

Turn 24, 3040 BC: Judaism has been founded in a distant land!

Turn 25, 3000 BC: Asoka adopts Organized Religion!
Turn 25, 3000 BC: Elizabeth adopts Slavery!

Turn 29, 2840 BC: Washington converts to Hinduism!

Didn't take long.

Turn 0 IBT Henge has been built in far away land.
Turn 3 we grow to Size three and work marble, Mids down to 10 turns
Turn 4 we are now connected to rest of civs tradewise.
Turn 5 BW=>Hunting. We have Bronze on our city site, meaning we get 3 extra hammers per turn for Mids, now down to 7 turns.
Turn 6 Liz has writing so I trade OB gains us 2 extra beakers per turn.
Turn 7 We lose furs to New Yorks borders, bit of a blow but once we get Globe not a problem.
Turn 8 Hunt=>Pottery, forest chop Mids down to 2 turns
Turn 10....

Civ4ScreenShot0019.JPG

One turn earlier than in test game with one less forest chop!!!

I changed to build second workboat but as no hammers invested can change if want too. If we build wrkboat we can finish in three turns if we work stone/marble for 1 turn then change from stone to deer. We can then move straight to Granary or build a couple of axes for protection.
Once we have second crabs online we can trade one to Asoka for gold, which will boost our current happy cap to 5. We can further boost this by 2 (representation) and another 1 with religion (2 with Temple) when needed.
