An open of the save and a quick review show that if we sack a scientist to grow and start Hermitage, Communism stays at 3 turns, so we do that.
Then I press enter for three turns.
Two things of interest then happen.
Asoka kills Alex.
And we discover Asoka doesn't like us enough for a PA
Drastic measures are enacted.
To wonderful effect
I direct him to research Physics (goes from 13 turns to 2).
As we are now the junior partner, I sack another scientist to grow quicker.
We are up only Communism on Lizzie but plenty on everyone else who we now have met (Mansu, Louis, Cyrus, Saladin, Catherine). Catherine has killed Monty and Hatty it seems and has a Mansu city as well, so we need to watch her. I goift her Liberalism to get her off annoyed.
Asoka gets the free scientist from Physics. I dial up Biology next.
We lose the fur but build Hermitage so hopefully will get it back. I build a temple for some more culture then back onto research.
All our army is upgraded to rifles and grennies. I traded somw junk techs to the AIs who hated us and got everyone at least cautious (some pleased) except Kublai.
Elizabeth, Catherine, Huayna, Saladin and Cyrus are our threats. Do not trade with them if we can avoid it. Currently no-one has any techs we need (a couple have MT).
Research wise, I think we should head straight for Computers after Biology (for labs), then Industrialisation, then Rocketry, then Robotics.
I think we're in pole position here but have to try and keep the other AI happy. If we're worried, head for Assembly Line and upgrade again. Once we hit Industrialisation and start building tanks we should be all right.
I noticed half way through my turn that we never swapped civics to Free Religion or Mercantilism

. We should do this asap. 10% research bonus and a free GS is not to be taken lightly.
We could grow quicker if we like but also can wait for Biology to kick in. The workers are lumbermilling at the moment. We have uranium in the ice but hooking it up isn't a priority. Until we know we have a clear research advantage we should stick to the research I think (scientists and building).
