Team Smurkz still hopes to finish by then, but would definitely like some leniency if we fail to do that. We've had plenty of problems with RL factors unfortunatly. That's only some leniency though, we're not talking another month here...

Granting a late extension of the deadline would seem unfair because it may cause some teams to rush for no reason. Better to know the deadline several weeks in advance.
I'm not sure I understand your point. Are you saying that it is already too late to discuss defining a final deadline other than July 24th; or that now is a good time to do so, as that date is still several weeks away?

We're doing alot of discussing right now, but I think we'd feel very pressured to be completed by the 24th.

I dont think we are in a particular rush unless the new SGOTM with the new HOFMOD is waiting ??
Tho putting a fixed finish date to the SGOTM is nice for teams that are allready gunning for ~July 24, allowing the SGOTM to go to Jan 1 2009 would not be "optimal" either.
That beeing said, I think we, Misfits, are still on target for ~July 24. That is IF planning works more or less.... Give or take a month or two

Sounds like a few weeks' extension would not be unpopular!
Although the 3.17 BtS patch is out, we still need a HoF Mod that's compatible, and I'd rather wait for the regular BOTM to use it in anger before committing to it for a three month(?) SGOTM. So a late August finish for this game fits that time table as well.

We are also moving forward steadily, but I think 24th would be a stretch. Especially with holidays coming up.
Chokonuts have made sure we would finish by the 24th as it appeared at the start that it was more of a firm deadline than previous SGOTMs

I don't see that it would create any kind of precedent. I'm not paid enough to be required to be consistent
But in any case, so what? This isn't a single team asking for an extension, several have indicated that they have a problem with the July date. Once we get into the summer vacation period, a couple of weeks is probably not going to make it much easier for them.
I'm trying to make this an enjoyable experience. If multiple teams are not able to devote enough time to meet my original guessed target, they'll be forced to choose between compromises with real life, or abandoning the game.
