A damn fine job, team! Some of those other teams have near legendary players, but we adhoc Unusual Suspects made a fine showing nonetheless. Special thanks to Yamps for keeping things moving (so that I got to see the end before I start travelling). And for everyone else who made it happen, thanks a lot for a truly great learning experience. I'm a better player already because of what I've learned here. Thanks everyone!

Well, we were nowhere close to finishing in the top three. But we can at least take comfort that there's no way we will be finishing dead last either.
It'll take a while to read through the other teams' threads, but Murky Waters pulled off some masterful diplomatic manipulations with war bribes. What is possibly even more impressive is that some of the teams yet to finish might actually beat Murky Waters' finish.

Basically, our strategy was wrong. We waited too long, should've started wars much earlier.

Well done all. Next time will try more than one turn set![]()

If any of you are up for a succession game not in the heat of battle, would be honored to have you folks with me. Will be a fun game.
I think I need some break from civ, but I'll lurk this. Immortal level requires focused play, I can't imagine a win with 3 different factions pulling in 3 different directions.

Well done Unusual Suspects.
Like Mastiff of Ar said, a deity win is a good win, especially for your team's first game.
I will call this an impressive first up game for this team. I don't think that we have the experience of the other teams on how to properly play so it is interesting how they fought wars. I was surprised at how early you can confuse the AI with wars, which sounds like a very interesting tactic.
However, I think we executed our strategy rather well. Great work team!
It's true that we were influenced too much by the OCC walkthrough & did not think enough (or at all) outside the box.
Here's the replay. Parse away!![]()
Still, we learned a lot from this game and we can learn a lot more from other teams' threads.
We had a conventional strategy: avoiding wars, going for DP and waiting 40 turns for the PA, we started wars after that. By the time we signed the PA, Murky Waters had already finished! However, I think we executed our strategy rather well. Great work team!

We can be proud that we have stuck well to our strategy and not deviate from it when thing could have gone wrong. that is essence of good team work, so now we need to take the next step and make he path better, which the more we play with each other the better we can get. I must say that is was great fun being in this team. Often I was nervous playing y turns, since i did not want to screw up.
It's a big responsibility to play for the team! Of course, there is a lot of satisfaction when you do well!
This was a great experience, we learned a lot. We had many questions about game mechanics while playing, the "Klarius korner" in Murky Waters offers the answers. I'm reading other threads too, a lot to learn.
Like you said, we can be proud about good team work and we'll certainly improve for the next game.
You guys only have two players signed up for SGOTM 8. Did you miss it, or are you not playing this one?
There should be some time for this, SGOTM is a lot of fun!
