SGOTM 10 - One Short Straw

Yes, both silks. Only for a couple of turns, too. Then they move further in and can't be grabbed anymore... I'll test it some more. I was thinking I could actually move the second longbow to 1E of Delhi during this turnset. That way we can see sooner if he builds the second worker. We should have time to pull it back towards St Pete, as I think we should wait a couple of turns with steal for the chance to get two...

The only macro question that I see as relevant during these 4 turns is a religion switch... I agree with you on delaying that. Does anyone still want an immediate switch? I don't have to play yet, but I thought we should maybe confirm that his worker is in fact on silk before proceeding.

catapults. he will build and use catapults. Single longbow won't live even in forest as escort. Also we would need to cross next to some cities and that usually causes more longbows on attack.

He also gives his LB's combat promos, which makes them near impossible for our guys to beat even on flat ground, and will eventually move 1 or 2 towards St. Pete, disrupting worker moves briefly if nothing else.

Cool. I'll give Raskolnikov and Paulus a day to reply.

I think I will move in the second LB. It gives us a bit of notice on the second worker.

Sorry, guys. I was gonna play it out last night, but I went out and got kinda hammered. Anyway, I thought I'd better delay it, just in case I do something stupid. Should be tonight (12-15 hrs.)...

The worker is on the western silk. Roading, having just finished the chop...

I screwed up and forgot to turn on autolog... Nothing much happened, though.

Exactly as in my test. Soon both workers should start building plnatation:cowboy:

:goodjob: You's a badass. I think we might just steal two. His LB hasn't gone towards St Pete either, so all good.

Send PM to Alan or post in maintenance thread. just in case moderators view this as something bad.

Ummmm..... Really? I thought the mod would log everything anyway... Sure, I'll PM him.

I don't think it's necesary to PM Alan, but it's prolly better to be safe...
You are doing an awesome work testing/planning/playing guys! Those 2 workers... :goodjob: will have a look at the save to see if I find something to rant about :D... (I can't be nice everytime ;))

And you are actually doing good effort in not participating:goodjob:!

:mischief: You are absolutly right... :(

1.Worker on gold who finished mining. Depends on macro decision whether we switch to our own religion or do it after reopeninbg borders with Ghandi. I heard no objections for later so he should road gold.

agreed

2. Second longbow - i do not want to land him near Ghandi's iron. I suggest not moving him further and retracting one tile back next turn. Personally i want him in our terirtory in case of nonsense [like Ghandi attacking our undefended city].

agreed too

3. Not sure why St.Pete is on size three and not working both phants. We discussed our need for hammers and this would allow finish workboat in one turn [Mmmm... on my test he was getting workboat and growing same turn...]

We effectively gain 2 food switching to the other phant for one turn, let's do this!

4.We definetely want to DOW next turn. After capturing worker [or workers] i suggest moving workers+longbow 1N - we loose a turn to deliver worker force, but on test Ghandi was spitting cat out of Bombay and it will attack. After that it depends how much hp is in our longbow. ugly math in general.

also agreed!

I guess babypants could do few more turns as we do not have any volunteers to play at any rate.

Babybluepants should post a full roster (with any order he likes, alphabetical...) so we get things moving. A little of formalisation won't be bad I think.

Cheers

I agree with the worker steal, and with working the elephants in St Petersburg. The other longbow could probably stay where it is as Gandi won't have enough resources to attack our cities immediatly and it would cripple his development if we fortified it on the forested hill. I agree with roading the gold.

I PM'd Alan, and it's not an issue at all...

I think we should road it first, then go for the starting PH.

I'm hoping to see a fast worker in Delhi IBT. I could pull back one tile. Gandhi's LB's are all parked in his cities at the moment.

It just grew to size 3. I haven't done anything this turn. I wasn't sure which would be better, but that sounds reasonable.

The second worker isn't out yet. Should we not wait for it 1-2t?

Why would I be doing this? Can you guys just state what your preferences are? If it helps, I'd say:

shyuhe played
babybluepants playing (I was thinking of playing another short set to peace treaty or so)
Soirana next
mdy on deck
RRRaskolnikov
PaulusIII (?)

Based on participation level.

I have no preferences, that is why I prefer someone else decide... I am OK with your order (based on participation level). I think having a clear roster order help people to focus but perhaps that's just me :)

Isn't the other worker supposed to appear in the IBT? If not I would wait a bit too.

Cheers

@Babybluepants, Soirana: I very well got your point about my low participation this afternoon... it's not worth it hunting me through the whole forum... Beside, my initial comment which started all this wasn't a sarcasm, but a way from me to acknowledge the current situation and to apologize.
Now I am going to quit my office and go open the save...

edit: on a more fun note: I hope everyone know how a granary works here? :p
