I bought 5, played a bit... seen the last patch... OK, back to 4. I don't know if they can improve it with an expansion. 'til there i probaly uninstall it.
 
Since AlanH called an end to the rule debate in the maintenance thread, I was thinking we could continue the discussion here... Just kidding! :lol:

I was surprised at the interpretation of the rules as well. I think it would have made a difference to know a lot earlier - is it really always suboptimal to scrub after landing? We could have micromanaged to launch earlier, scrub later. Or something.

Having said that, we really should have objected at the time AlanH made his announcement. At the time I think we all figured 'We're deep into our own strategy now, and it probably wouldn't have helped us anyway, so it's not worth saying anything."

Next time we should all argue about the rules more at the beginning of the game (AlanH will love that :D )

To be accurate, when that interpretation of the rules was posted, we have already posted our final save. So probably this was the main reason along with the fact that i consider inefficient scrub after landing.
 
Congratulations team. A well deserved medal. Nice to know that or bit of bad luck didn't become a factor in our finish after all. No amount of luck could have closed the gap to the top two anyway.
 
Also, the now unhidden graphs are available. Take a look at the hammers per turn, I think it shows quite clearly how we beat the "bunch" :p
 
That hammer graph is bee-yoo-tiful. Love Mining, Inc. I'm surprised the other teams didn't go hammer-heavy; many had Mining Inc. and everyone would have had access to the same multiplier techs. There was one team that delayed Coal Plants in favour of Three Gorges, though I can't remember who that was.

Xteam weren't very far behind us in the end - they completed in 1892, compared to our 1880. Is that six turns on Normal?
 
Now that it's official, congrats team on playing our way to a medal (my first!). It was good playing with everyone and I'm really pleased at the outcome.

Hope next game will go just as well or even better. Let's pick up one or two players to ride out the dry spells. It got pretty bad for me around December with holidays and work, and I'd like to keep the discussion going a bit more dynamically.

I agree. Great Job All!!! I am really happy with the team we have right now and hope that we can all gather together for the next one!
 
I've signed up. Hope to have most if not all of the old team back.

I've cut back my Civ playing dramatically and SGOTM will probably be the only Civ I play these days ...
 
OK guys, we're at least 4. Let's see if some less active member of the last SG will sign up or even some old FE member. In case we can try to recruit new blood.
 
The game has only just been announced, so let's give everyone a fair chance to notice first.
If pnp_dredd signs up, we have the most active part of the team intact, and then we know we can keep a good pace. But hopefully, more people will want to return.
 
So with Havr, that makes 6. I sent a PM to Culdeus since he said he was interested in playing in the next SGOTM.


I also pilfered the test game from some team ( I saw that Neilmeister took it so i took his post). It has the starting area down so it is as good a starting place as any. We can modify the rest of the map once we get started.

What about Dredd? Maybe Beestar or Fluroscent can PM him?
