SGOTM 14 - One Short Straw

I re-counted everthing just now, and get 868 tiles with 15 settlers. This is with capturing the 2 Mali cities in the hub, but nothing else. We'll need to capture and resettle Tekedda and Awdaghost to get closer. Probably also Kumbi Saleh.

Attacking Monte might not be such a good idea, if we're in danger of strike. He won't be willing to talk peace for some time.

I think I would still GA, even if we get a GM.

We could consider switching out of Bureaucracy now. If we were building wealth there under GA, it's better to stay in, though. I think I'd stay in for now, on second thought.

Why are we building a LH in Silver?

I counted ~150cpt from the GA, working the tiles we're now working. THen an additional ~170cpt working coastal where reasonable. That still leaves 250gpt short of breaking even.

I wouldn't attack uMgung this turn. We need to maximize our units, because we don't know hwo many more we'll be able to make. A multi-turn revolt might be our best option.

We can try to forestall the STRIKE for another turn maybe, but then we're looking at 3-5t of STRIKE that aren't too costly: 0+1+1+2+2 units. After that, we would simply need to consider a revolt economy. We can switch 4 civics for 4t and switch religion for the 5th. We don't miss the culture because we don't get any culture during revolt.

As soon as we're in sight of Oz, we can consider running the GA, switching to the civics we want, and building culture wherever needed. Then we just hope for the best.

Why not? What can you do next turn to make it better? We have what looks like a pretty convincing win, maybe losing 1-2 trebs.
Edit: xpost. Ok.

How many units did we say for Oz?
Well, Mitch needed anywhere from a few to 15 CRIII maces. But we don't have that many CRIII I don't think and he didn't use the Warlord. I figure 18 should be plenty, including the warlord, assuming none are going to get disbanded.

Leaving now, we can have 6 5-mvmt galleons there in 11t. We could also send 2 from GK arriving in 11t and 2 more in 12t, but for them, we'd need a chain to fill them.

11t is a long time. We'd basically need to plan a revolt economy, methinks. I don't seee any other way around it. We'll see how much the FP will help, but I doubt it'll be more than 50-70cpt. Plus our economy will get more and more expensive. SO I'm thinking get out as many units as quickly as we can and then go intothe revolts. Meanwhile, we can put our chariots and warriors out of our culture and hope for luck to start with, but in my tests, maces got zapped left and right, even thogh there were chariots to pick from. Warriors, however, did seem to go early. Maybe that 15h is a big enough difference in cost.

Btw, Shaka killed one of our galleons, loaded with units with a single caravel. Mansa won't hesitate to attack either.

Doesn't look like it. We can't see 4 of G's cities, but the most he has in anything is 112h and less in Delhi, his wonder city. But it is possible.

Another detail is we could try stealing treasury from Tabriz if we waited 5 turns with our spy, but I don't think it would be much gold and I think we'd rather extinguish him asap for the WW points relief.

Lost two trebs at uMgun.
Nongoma has LB+Axe, Nodwengu LB+Mace+Sw.
We got the 100g from Monte.

I'm thinking we might need a temporary CF after Tabriz and Turfan. New Sarai is tricky to get to.

We'll have about 190g 260g left after this turn.

I also count 22 pillage-turns worth of cottage/hamlet/village/town. There are chariots there or in galleons nearby to do some of that work.

Good job. There's a lot of MM to do each turn, don't forget. Cities coming out of resistance every turn that need to be addressed. SOme big cities are coming out that I forgot to garrison and the like. We can get those whales soon. That'll help. The CF, if needed, will help.

The workers in the galleons at Samartian were meant for the Liz 100c mountain city, but that SoD needs to be watched. That might be another reason to CF and then get New Sarai in 1t, ending that risk.

Move the warrior North of Ivory out of our culture (Can happen after our first turn of strike). Hopefully he'll be the first to go if we have a strike. Maybe replace the other warriors with any sort of garrisons and move them out of our culture.

We have 6 warriors, five garrisoned. All could be replaced by archers giving us amnesty+4t of high probability safe strikes.

I have another idea. We have available settlers. We plop one down in the hub, surrounded by forested land and chop warriors.

Okay, here we go:

This city would have to be protected because Mansa has a city adjacent to the west (Agades, I think, but we can't see the city center yet.)

This location is okay and even better in that it wouldn't need 100c. It's worse because it's high maintenance, but WTH...
