SGOTM 15 - Kakumeika

I'm concerned that we have one missionary booked on our caravel to the north until T151+, and another booked to wait for the Moses teleport gift T146, and our third is milling around Shaka's territory. If the north spread fails, or the teleport fails (Vilcabamba pops its borders) then we have significant downtime while building and re-positioning another missionary.

We probably don't want to use the missionary in Shaka's culture to spread to Hammu yet (lest he flip to Hinduism too soon) so I think it is best to kill him and build a new one in CowTown.

I tested, and closed borders with Toku is not needed for the Moses teleport - the test game even has two unrealistic neutral tiles and we still cross the Yellow Sea.

So per my earlier teleport testing, that means we can move the stack 1NE of Kyoto to Kyoto this turn, teleport home, and still have half a movement point. This will allow an earlier attack on Bulawayo - which might be necessary if Shaka will block our stack at some stage. Edit: turns out our stack near Kyoto has no movement, so we can't do the efficient teleport to a tile that has a road already, but even without closing borders with Hatse we can still teleport forward to our culture and save time. Hoover can join this teleport and help with roads.

Also, whipping the settler on the island is good, because Merc will cut foreign trade routes, so two island cities is good.

Okay so I'm adding a whip of the settler in island so we have 2 overseas trade routes for our cities (we are losing the foreign ones with mercantilism)

Plus mabraham noticed that the toku border closure isn't necessary for moses trick to work, so we are going to close borders with toku to help get our army out (less maintenance)

redirecting Hoover to build a road to Akhe, just in case and to get a peek at the units there. redirecting Hoover to teleport with stack so we can get them moving to Shaka faster.

I'm not sure we should move our whole army off to shaka until we know we won't need them to take Akhe. Probably not but Hatse has some big stacks moving about.

Good luck Bcool!

When you switch to Slavery and Mercantlism, don't forget we can also do Hereditary Rule too since we got Monarchy a few turns back.

I will pray that the Team_Gawa switches to Mercantilism quickly and that the super caravel can reach the North_AI.

already switched to hereditary rule (sorry I did that on T133 when I realized that would be possible when I traded machinery and switched to paganism)

hmm, T140 still

check AI diplo status seems team AI are in WHEOOHRN

could be quite bad, we were the only player cautious with them on T139/T140... all others pleased. They now have OB with Hammuragawa.

T141 team AI didn't switch to mercantilism :(
cyrusgawa switch to confu and build the confu holy building
hatsegawa switched to theocracy
shared war with hammu ticked up to +5 and we are friendly with him :) he will trade horseback riding

T142 still no switch to Mercantilism! :(
Looks like 99% chance we have no access to northern AI from Hatsegawa ocean

I don't believe they will attack us until they have something to gain. We no longer have cities close enough to attack. They would need Astronomy to reach us. If we found a city near Huanyagawa after a teleport, we found it, spread Hinduism and give it all in the turn our units teleport.

We should be cautious with AI team relations, but RL DV should still be easy enough to achieve by t156.

Come on dumb Gawas! Adopt your favorite civic!

Okay here is a screenshot

no access to northern AI from Hatsegawa ocean it seems

looking really closely it seems there isn't a line of ice. It might still block us but there might be hope still for access.

looks likely that we will need to go to war with Shaka, should I settle the bait city, start as many units as I can and still get engineering in 3 turns?

Still T142

Sounds the best we can do to cater for the need to conquer a city. Genghis cities and routes to them look less convenient than Bulawayo. And Hammu dislikes Shaka so if we have to DOW, that's less of an issue.

shaka's stack is about 7 turns away from bait city...so we probably should do it soon if we want to avoid further diplo penalties.

shaka bait city will cost us some in maintanance but I think it is worth it.

It looks like Bullawayo or bust now. None of the Ghenghigawa cities look close enough to the north_AI to be able to gift to them, and we cannot reach the north AI by boat or random hindu spread. So, we need to invade Shaka and take his northwest coastal city by force I'd say. WastinTime was right again! haha

Unless our stack can invade Shaka in 7 turns, I'd say delay settling the bait city one turn for the next turnset to decide. Fire up Engineering and the war unit building I'd say :)

There really is no access to north AI team amazing

Shaka SoD didn't take the bait it seems. It is hanging out in Nongoma near Hammu border

uploading, still no mercantilism!

With Banking, we could probably get OB with South AI and then skip the war with Hats/Akhetaton. Nice, but I don't think this is our top priority.

OB with the North AI could work, but mostly likely it's useless. It seems unlikely that Neil would give us access to both AI from the same body of water, so the only other way to get a caravel/missionary there is something like capturing Cyrus' Tarsus. That is 10 times harder than Bulawayo.

I'm finding it hard to envision a peaceful banking path to the North AI.

The Gawas just won't go peacefully nope! :hammer2:
