SGOTM 18 - Kakumeika

In the test game, after moving the Warrior 2-N of Copper t50, GK pulls the Chariot back somewhere not visible.

Let's assume that even if Shaguar dies, the worker survives. Cottages I say. The road will impair the forest regrowth I've been promised.

No more chopping yet please.

We can't build an ax up there without copper connected all the way up there. That's lots o roads.

What do you mean?

Fur+Corn connects to our empire in the test game just fine with no roads.

We can make axemen there whenever we complete the bronze mine.

Of course we should chop the northern fur+corn city. :crazyeye:

Like I wrote earlier. Send him to cottage and assume we get a worker. We can go to corn later if we don't. Let's have some faith.

Cottage what exactly?

Wet corn is way way way better than a nonfinancial cottage on any of our 3 current cities.

I don't have faith we will get a 2nd worker stolen.

If by some trick of luck we pull it off, then fur+corn can go crazy with 2 workers and really put some pressure on Genghis without having to walk military up there from our main cities.

Sigh, maybe have our worker road 2N2W of Pigs city on T48 for 1 turn as a compromise?
If the steal works, we finish the road and send the worker back into our main empire T49. 2nd stolen worker can improve fur+corn site.
If the steal fails, send it on to wet corn and it gets improved 1 turn late.

i would rather sneak attack his capital first. So then we'd need a road going east to the RR. But honestly, I haven't looked at the tactical situation yet. I don't think we can expect to get the entire army from corn/fur.

Can't we?

16:hammers: per turn at Size 6. (needs a border pop)

Wet corn for very fast growth.

Lots and lots of forests to chop. (10 if we chop the fur too)

I'm pretty sure fur city can conquer Genghis all by itself from that plains hilltop.

I like sending the worker up to fur/corn even if we get a stolen worker. Lots of work up there.

I like building a worker in the capital too but only after it reaches pop 5.

I think those have been 3 votes for a Worker from the Capital.

I'm sorry for this / you WastinTime, but I personally think that 4 Workers for 4 cities are what is needed.

Not when we can't/shouldn't chop yet AND we have 2 cities with NO forests, and one other city that has already chopped 2. There just isn't that much work to do, especially if we plan to whip a lot, which we always do. I'd rather have 2 chariots than 1 worker.

The only thing unresolved is what to do with the Worker that will chop 1-NW of Pigs. Does it unconditionally move to Fur city site Corn. Or does it stay to cottage riverside plots in Capitalist until 2nd poach success is known; continue improving plots in Capitalist if poach is successful and move to Fur city site Corn plot if poach is unsuccessful.

We should vote on this so the PPP can finalized and I finish my turn set to t51 when Currency completes.

Our current needs for workers are 2 in the south and 1 in the north. We may never need to build another worker. I almost never do. We should still be able to get 15 cities and 15 workers by 1ad. In the comparable normal speed, Space with China game that I've sited several times, I had 18 workers and 26 workers by 500 AD. I think that game sets a nice pace for us.

Another way to look at worker needs is to list priorities:

The most important tiles are ones that are already being worked (copper)

Next are tiles that will soon be worked in the Capital (cottages).

Third importance are tiles that will soon be worked elsewhere (corn). One worker can keep up with the needs of corn/fur.

Of course we don't need to improve tiles in exactly that order. It may make sense to double-team a cottage on the way to copper.

It turns out we won't be able to settle Fur+Corn until T58 it appears.
With 30:hammers: overflow T46, Pigs City can't whip the settler until T51 and it can't start moving until T52.

That means the captured worker on T49 can go down and improve the corn right when the city settles if it survives.

:hmm:

What do you guys think of the compromise plan?

T46 worker chops
T47 worker moves to 2N2W of Pigs City
T48 if slave moves onto bronze tile, worker roads 2N2W of Pigs City for 1 turn and stops. We DOW Genghis and steal worker on Bronze.
1) T49 if slave worker and warrior aren't destroyed by chariot, slave heads down to corn and improves it by T58. Worker heads to improve copper or tiles near capital T49.
2) T49 if slave worker isn't ours for various reasons, worker moves to 3N3W of Pigs City.
T50 Worker roads 4N2W of Pigs City for 1 turn and stops.
T51-T58 Worker heads to corn and farms it in time for the Fur City settlement

This plan, either way the corn gets done in time.
If the steal succeeds, we can send our worker back to improve the capital area starting T49 and Pigs City can try to regrow some forests.

If people like the compromise plan, we'd have to stop at T50 to debate what the capital builds next.

Worker? Settler for clams+stone? Chariot?

I would be happy to vote for either the compromise plan or to send both workers to Corn+Fur if the team still wanted to do that.

As long as the corn is ready by the time our settler gets there I'm happy.

clams scares me because it's got no backup tiles to work if goldmember shows up. so that leaves chariot for me. And if you're going to build a chariot, you should build a small stack...and use them. Maybe a barracks if we're going to build a stack. If we don't think we're commited to full war then a chariot to harrass SK is fine.

Clams can still be useful. (Sort of )

30:hammers: for a lighthouse, and clams with no boat gives 3:food: and 2:gold:

We can also chop a southern forest at Pigs City to make a workboat. Put a farm there for another tile for Clams city to work.

It would be slow going, but eventually Clams City could be made to work even with Goldmember harassment.

If nothing else, getting that Stone would be useful.
