SGOTM 19 - Also Sprach Sid

Hmm, Napoleon has 4 cities already. It looks like that other 3 unknown AIs also found their 3rd city to trigger the barbarian invasion.

The axe in capital will arrive sheepish in time. we can queue an archer and see how those barbarians move next turn. Never mind, 2 axes should be enough.

In that case, we might need to send an axe from Rice pudding to gold sand.

I checked, they just don't attack in tests:

Spoiler :

Test 1: default unit script
Test 2: AI_ATTACK (both)
Test 3: ATTACK_CITY (both)

I have to give them the LEMMING script to get them to attack:

Spoiler :

----

The Archer will probably head to the Wheat. I can have an Axe ready to attack this, I think.

Worker micro will have to change... again. Sigh.

Napoleon's research is odd, and not great for us. He went for Alphabet and Monarchy > Iron Working.

I would be happy if Napoleon gets Monarchy, which is our most needed tech, hopefully our scouting axe will meet more AIs soon.

To confirm the micro for the current turn:

Spoiler :

Southern Axe stays fortified.
Sheepish whips the Monument.

On T53, the Axe 2N1E of Sheepish moves into the city. No promotion needed yet.

I thought about moving the WII Axe eastwards, but decided to keep Asoka weak:

Spoiler :

EDIT: the biggest problem would be the barb Axe moving:

T52: 1NW
T53: 1NE
T54: 1NE

The most southern Axe won't be able to help out, but I can still have two Axemen in Sheepish without altering the micro. The Wheat could be pillaged if this happens.

Another worker.:D:lol: Will queuing an archer delay the axe production?
From what I see, the barbarian axe will likely go 1NE next turn, or will he attack our axe?

He went NW:

Spoiler :

The north was clear last turn, but now:

Spoiler :

The good news is there are no Axemen, and the Rice hadn't yet been improved (so no pillaging possible).

We could think about building an Archer > Library. We won't be able to whip this without the Rice food.

An Axe was due to arrive in Golden Sands on T58. I could bring this down to T57, if you are ok with attacking Asoka one turn later (or, alternatively, attacking with one less unit on T62). ATM I think Golden Sands is safe: the Archers are mostly an annoyance that prevent us improving the Rice.

I think I'll move the WII Axe and call it a night. The barbarians and free Workers are playing havoc with my micro and I have more free time tomorrow.

Do you want to see the file? (i.e. should I upload?)

Nice, the southern axe is now able to defend sheepish in time, we have 3 axes in south.

Can we send an archer in Rice pudding to gold sand? Good that there is no 2 archers arrive in same time.

Golden Sand Units

T53: Warrior (fortified)
T54: Warrior (fortified)
T55: Warrior (fortified). Axe (built ---> Case Depart/Asoka).
T56: Warrior (fortified). Axe (built ---> Golden Sands).
T57: Warrior (---> Case Depart). Archer (built).

That's the present micro.

We can two-pop whip an Axe (4/35H) this turn, if you want. Otherwise, the Archer (11/25H) cannot be slow-built until T55 (when we scheduled to build an Axe).

The southern Axe will be one turn late to defend Sheepish. There will still be two Axe defenders, although (as I said) I think we will have to accept that the Wheat is going to be pillaged.

With clever micro, I may be able to stop the pillaging happening. We have a lot of Workers. :D

I think I'll resume tomorrow. Lots of micro needs to be changed, and I can test in the morning.

@all/anyone: let me know if I should upload.

T58 axe in golden sand is fine as there's no barbarian axe as well. Our archer could deal with 2 archers in the same time without terrible luck, not sure whether the barbarian archer will try to destroy our gold mine.

Good night then.

It could be that longbow was in a barb city at the start of the game.

Meeting Napoleon is strange if you couldn't see units  It looks as if he was meant to not attack some AIs but maybe bully human (and fail) at some point.

To be honest I'm a bit lost with all barb positions so I wouldn't mind the upload.

That was my first thought as well.

The Axe should be safe in the woods so I will move 1W. Hopefully the LB will move away, because we will need to move onto flatland on the following turn to continue west (edit: although going NW should be possible too).

Our Axe was on the Stone Hill at the time:

Spoiler :

Yeah, I :dunno: . Just one of those things I guess. I checked for culture and AI units on T52. He was probably in Tokugawa's territory.

To be honest I'm a bit lost with all barb positions so I wouldn't mind the upload.
Will upload shortly.

He does have Monarchy which is good once we've acquired Priesthood or Monotheism.
Kinda surprised only Toku has Iron Working though...

His colour seems to suggest another Ottoman Empire is present hmmm.

You mean 1SW, right?

How about to the copper hill, better vision. Most of the barbarians will be around Toku's border, so should be safe.

Another detail is that he just switched into Hinduism, so must have OBs with another AI that we haven't met.

I don't mind. It's riskier, but we'll still get winning odds. Earlier, the Barbarian Axe didn't attack our Axe when it moved to a hill.

----

I think I will need to leave the Rice in the north unimproved for the near future. In tests, moving the Worker away from the Rice and then back again will delay the Cow improvement in City #5. This wouldn't be the end of the world, but the Rice itself is constantly pillaged. I would prefer to leave it with 4/5 turns of improvement and wait until we have an Axe in the area, or TGW.

Any opinions on the next build in Golden Sands (Archer vs. Axe vs. Library?). The city generates 4H per turn. I have a slight preference for a Library > Archer >>>>> Axe.

I'll going to eat and will resume shortly after. The turns will probably be slow, due to the barbarians.
