SGOTM 19 - Also Sprach Sid

My thought about the war with Toku:

If we upgrade a coupe of combat HAs, still don't have high odd vs LB, we could let some Flanking HAs attack 1st to wound the LB and then attack with Cuis. We need to move out the healthy HAs to the attacking position in Constantinople (where HA21 is standing) now, just to reduce some outgoing fee.

Good

Edit: A few more suggestions:

HC has 1 gpt to offer, we can renegotiate the clam deal
Trade Music<->Theo + 10g
Trade Music+Phi<->Machinery Unfortunately that KK is cautious at us, so that we can't bribe him to switch out of slavery.
Trade MC<->5g
Yes KK at Cautious also means he won't throw in his map...

In all seriousness, do you now agree that the Monastery before it gets started on Cuirassiers? It will take 2 turns to complete. Maybe just 1.
Without switching tiles: on T124 we will have 7/1.5 = 4H OF from Forge and 23H base production with a 1.75 multiplier.

Tao Monastery: 11H/60 + (4 + 23) * 1.75 = 58H/60 on T125

2H short which I can get by changing from a plains cott to the GL Mine. The 1 turn sooner Monastery ~nets the loss of 3C with a 3.10 beaker multiplier and allows to start on Cuirs ASAP.

So OK :D

My only micro suggestion:

Spoiler :

Run 3 Merchants and 1 Artist. Work the Plains Hill (= 3H) and Grassland Hill (= 3H). Queue a Horse Archer, not a Courthouse.

OK

---

I am not certain, but I don't think I've ever seen the OF bug translate into :gold: in BUFFY, just BULL. That would just affect the Chariot build.
So do I go with the Chariot or not?

I mean, if we have some 3-pop whips lined up, over 2-turns (T126-7) we can produce, at minimum:

94H * 1.5 = 141H
90H from a 3-pop whip, 2HPT (over two turns) from the center square. That assumes we work no other hammer tiles.

Most of the 3-pop cities (like Thessalonica/Cornish Cow, etc.) have a Forest chop, or some OF, right? Let's say that they have 6H already invested in the Horse Archer, and then get 30H from one Forest. That seems conservative to me, but anyway:

(30 + 6) * 1.5 = 54H
141 + 54 = 195H
It's really not difficult to produce two Cuirassiers in two turns with numbers like that.

BTW, make sure that Sea Horse grows to size 6 on T124 (i.e. when Constantinople stops running its specialists and can share a Rice again).

As ever, check my numbers, in case I have made a mistake. :p
They all three have +40H OF so that would mean 2 Cuirs produced each by T127. Fair enough.

We could let Sheepish work the Grassland-Hill-Hamlet for a turn, so that it continues to develop.

So do I go with the Chariot or not?
Go with a Missionary.

OK

Thanks! Pressing end turn, will upload my EOT 124 save in any case before proceeding to T125 where I'll pause

You don't need to upload unless something is pressing or you are unclear about something. :)

The identity of the Great Person in Constantinople could affect micro.

Gpp:

Let's say:

(6) Case Départ = GA #1
(7) Constantinople = GA #2.a = Great Artist
(*) Great Merchant Economics = GA #3

If we have perfect RNG and spawn three different Great People types, then...

(8.a) Constantinople = GM/GScientist?

If both Case Départ and Constantinople produce Great Scientists, then...

(8.b.) Constantinople = GA #2.b
A Great Artist is good, unless Case Départ gets one at low odds as well.

Run Great Scientists in Constantinople, because:

Great Artist: "useless" (I exaggerate) if we generate another one in Constantinople (we need another GP for GA#3)
Great Merchant: we will use the Economics GM (or BS/DH) for GA#3
Great Scientist: if Case Depart pops a GArtist, then this can start a GA. If Case Depart pops a GScientist of its own, then Constantinople could still bulb.
I would also run fewer great people than before in Constantinople and begin to grow. The city will whip a few Cuirassiers.

Uploaded EOT 124. Just a couple things before pressing end turn:
  • BM in Rice Pudding: where to? NW or SW?
  • There's an early chop in Lalibela, we can put it (i) in a HA so we can 2-pop whip a Cuir next turn, (ii) in the Forge, (iii) bank it to benefit either from the OR or the PS bonus. What do you think? I vote (i) for earlier Cuir

I would also run fewer great people than before in Constantinople and begin to grow. The city will whip a few Cuirassiers.
I don't know, the city is size 13 and I'd rather bank as many GPP we can as long as we are in Pacifism.

Scientists and 1 Spy is OK?

A GA almost solved the last unpredictable factor of our plan. We could hire a scientist in capital to increase the odd of GS.

BM to HC's capital, more BM will be needed for great captured cities later.

Bank the chop.

A few observations:

The worker south of Thessa is in dangerous position, cancel the job and draw it back
The woodmanII axe should go 1W and HA goes to the Ice hill next turn
We are ready to DOW Toku on T126.

Horse tile in Seahorse is better than cottage.

Golden sands should focus on Units than failed cash. We also need a settler from here. the workers around need to road toward north.

Quick look at the save:

Golden Sands: build Horse Archer?
Lalibela: bank hammers

Theology <------> 70G with Alex seems good to me.

We could hire an Engineer or Scientist in the capital after the Monastery completes.

I didn't look at unit placement or Worker micro. I'm supposed to be working. :mischief:

Aksum will be unhappy when we DOW Toku, start a HA this turn and ready to whip on T126?

No spy since a GS is enough.

Really? Where can the danger come from?

The woodmanII axe should go 1W and HA goes to the Ice hill next turn
Had imagined the other way around but it's probably better this way

We are ready to DOW Toku on T126.

Horse tile in Seahorse is better than cottage.
Good catch, this happened when I rearranged the Corn

Switched to a HA (had it in my PPP and everything )

OK just scientists

Don't sell Theology, I don't like AI has better military units.

About the worker in Thessa, the mounted units in iron city could reach it.

We can hang onto Theo if you keep an eye on Alex's teching and look to sell whatever he's researching.

Alex built the Shwedagon Pagoda, so can switch into Theology already.

OK guys, pressed end turn and uploaded!

Signing off for today, got a gig to attend to :band:

Will comment on the save later if you can't continue tonight.

I'd favor this deal, before we perform our civic switch:

Spoiler :

As a reminder, don't move the Galley too far away from the Settler being chopped.

How many units do we want in the initial Kublai stack? 8 Cuirassiers + 2-4 Horse Archers?
