Move your mouse cursor to the south and north, you'll know where's the edge of this map when the mouse cannot move further. It's the feature of FLAT map. Moreover, I read somewhere that the x and y axis can be seen.

^^Right, the scroll stops faster on one side depending where you are.

In this case I could scroll as far in either direction - or abouts.

OK thanks for the info

--------------------------------------------

I don't see anything out of place in the demo screen, 35K soldiers corresponds exactly to the Ancient era techs + 3*Archers. However we now know for sure what we suspected: there is no Mansa (or Hammurabi for that matter). Correction: there is no Malinese or Babylonian AI (super info...)

Unfortunately we can't see if the AI has been granted extra Worker/Settlers for now (or can we? :dunno:). It's acutally very practical that all AIs start with the exact same demographics, monitoring the demo screen during the first turns will be crucial to establish how/if the AIs have been buffed.

A couple of questions:
  • What do you guys make of the "New Random Seed on Reload" option? I'm uneasy with this... are there things affected by RNG out of combats and IBT??
  • Is there a way to see if the AIs were granted the extra 200 :gold: like us before we meet them? I guess they have been, but the sooner we know the better (I think I didn't change that in the v0 test game)

New random seed on reload does not affect us in any way. Is it to prevent people for reading the seed number from the save file to be able to determine outcome of combats?

I do not know any way to determine if the AI has extra money.

According to bestsss, it's possible to exploit random seed. But it's just that - an exploit.
It really doesn't change anything as we can't tell ahead of time what we'll get regardless.

No way to tell AI gold before seeing a city tile.

How does seeing a city tile help?

Unlocks cost of missions in espionage screen. Basically, with the cost of the "Steal treasury" mission we can know how much dollas the AI has got

Espionage is strange =P

Anyone prefer to play the 1st set? As usual, I'd like as that's the lazy player's favorite part.

The issues with Alphabet first are
[1] we need trade partners
[2] we need to trade for Meditation/Polytheism

The first one shouldn't be a big issue unless there's some background shenanigans.
The second might be more problematic since when the religion is founded, AIs don't necessarily complete the tech.

Polytheism is the prerequisite of Monotheism, therefore most AIs won't miss it.

Fine with me but I'd like to play one of the starting sets as well since I'll be a lot less available in March.

I wouldn't be so sure. Many AIs (not Izzy/Gandhi/Pacal etc.) abandon the religious line after Meditation and Polytheism are taken, in favor of IW. Plus, Polytheism is also unavailable to trade when the AI begin the ToA.

We have 5 turns to make up our minds, anyway.

Have we decided on a capital location yet? Should we test? I have some free time tonight.

If you prefer the opening, go ahead and post your PPP. We'd better to have a clear roster now so that we could have a smooth going. 3 month deadline is really quite tight.

Pretty sure that 2S is the best choice, you are welcome to do some tests. I have not tested whether to improve corn or connect copper 1st.

2S sounds about right, if only for the pigs. Turn of moving can be used for Slavery revolt.

Also, pigs first is probably better than copper (and definitely better than corn).

I should say a bit clear in my post. Improving the Pig and then chop a forest would be the 1st 2 jobs for the worker. I thought it's quite obvious for everyone.;)

I was provisionally in favor of 2S here, so I won't test the current SIP if we have a majority/consensus. No need to waste time. :) That being said, I'll look at the 2S micro. My intuition is that (for the 3rd Worker action) the Corn > Copper, as long as we can improve the Copper by the time that we hit size 4 and begin a Settler.

We should try to play up to T5 ASAP to get more scouting info and, hopefully, AI meeting.

Research can be cancelled each EoT so we can decide on T5 what to do. Also That leads up to completion of pasture.
