SGOTM 19 - Also Sprach Sid

Good news, the barbarians attacked, so we have no need to worry about the Wheat:

Spoiler :

Plan:

  1. Axe in Sheepish: promote to City Raider 1, in case the Barbarian Axe gets lucky and kills...
  2. Axe north of Sheepish: promote to Combat 1. Move into city.
  3. Axe south of Sheepish: move 1NE.

The promotion for (1) is a worst case scenario, i.e. the Axe beats our Axe, and then the Combat I Warrior beats our injured Axe.

This would be terrible luck, so I'm happy to leave the current Axe unpromoted.

Northern barbarians:

Spoiler :

Exploration:

Spoiler :

I think I will need to leave the Rice in the north unimproved for the near future. In tests, moving the Worker away from the Rice and then back again will delay the Cow improvement in City #5. This wouldn't be the end of the world, but the Rice itself is constantly pillaged. I would prefer to leave it with 4/5 turns of improvement and wait until we have an Axe in the area, or TGW.

I believe that worker can go back to improve the rice 2 turns later. That barbarian archer is a special case since our worker happens on his way to the city. Even safer if you don't see more barbarian come from that direction 2 turns later. Why don't you send an extra worker north while we captured 2 new workers.

Any opinions on the next build in Golden Sands (Archer vs. Axe vs. Library?). The city generates 4H per turn. I have a slight preference for a Library > Archer >>>>> Axe.
Library is good.

For the northern Axe:

Spoiler :

Do you prefer safety: (1) NE; (2) N, NW; (3) W, W.

Or western movement: (1) SW, NW; (2) SW/W/NW

Edit: I would prefer western movement.

I'm thinking 1S, now:

Spoiler :

I would move 1SW if it weren't for the barbarian Longbow, which is on a tile south of the forest hill.

1SW is fine as barbarians are targeting cities mostly. Or still go NW since the tile west of the hills are still flat tiles.

I would move NW. Is there any reason to see more of Tokugawas land?

I moved 1S before I could see feedback:

Spoiler :

Next: 1SW ---> 1NW.

About to end turn.

SW to NW sounds good.

The barb Axeman died IBT. The barb Warrior moved 1N of Sheepish. Another Axeman appeared SW of Sheepish. An Archer moved onto the northern Rice.

We might need a shock axe in Sheepish to defend barbarian axe in case that he attack from 1W of Sheepish since we lose the river bonus in that case.

Good, a new AI!

Good, a new AI!
I know, right. :D

I need a few minutes to think the Worker movement through:

Spoiler :

A Combat I Axe with 4/4 XP is fortified in Sheepish now. Another Combat I Axe is 1SE (keeping him there for a turn to fogbust a little more).

Very likely that axe will go through 1W of Sheepish, promote the axe to shock to be safer.

Just note that you have not OB with Nappy, OB with any AI immediately.

IBT barbs:

Spoiler :

After moving the Axe 1NW:

Spoiler :

Why not OB with Nappy? there's no hurt to get anyone pleased.

Edit: Move the worker to 1N of the rice, that archer is going to make a mess of our plan, we don't want to use another axe to defend Rice pudding.

Why not OB with Nappy? there's no hurt to get anyone pleased.
We have OB. I opened them when we met.

Gonna take a break. I'm happy to hear thoughts or suggestions regarding the north:

Spoiler :

I really want one or both of those Workers to head north.

Although I would have liked to move the Axe to take care of the Archer near the Rice, I do not dare do this with a Barbarian Axe nearby.
