SGOTM 19 - Also Sprach Sid

What is your plan for these Workers:

Spoiler :

?

Don't improve. The tile will take too long to chop and build a Windmill.

Convert pre-existing Grassland Mines to Windmills, or improve other tiles that take less time.

If you moved them to build a road, then a road is fine. But just use 1 Worker at a time to improve Forests, Jungles, and Hills of this sort.

----

Ok on Santiago.

In Seville, the Plains Hill should still be a better tile than a Grassland Farm, since we will be in Biology soon and need hammers/commerce now.

Played the turn partially, I want to avoid too many mistakes and  before WAL goes over 9000

Please look at the save.

Most workers are unmoved. Can you help me prevent their moving around aimlessly?

Stack in Nuremberg is unmoved, we need to send a few dudes to Mainz, in case of a ha attack there. How many you say?
The rest will move with the main stack.

Found Nappy's stack, he's leading the way into Bagdad.

Copper-Clam settler could be in peril as I failed to escort it properly. RNG god have mercy on him :please:

T147 started with a couple of stupid demands from HC (he wants Banking, gets refused and becomes furious ho ho ho) and Alex (He wants us to stop trading with the Ottomans and gets dowed in exchange)

Night.

Nice work.

Does someone (Duckweed?) want to finish this turn? If soundjata doesn't mind. :) I wouldn't suggest it usually, but there are 6 days left and the identity of the GP will provoke some planning and discussion.

Edit: the war needs careful though. It is likely Alex swing his stack back to defend Najran with the current situation.

I'd prefer that soundjata plays to at least T148, you know why.;)

I don't have shadow of very bad luck, but I trust soundjata more than myself.:)

Kossin is free now, he is pretty efficient at closing.

I'm tempted to use my namesake (El Doshin) to attack Najran:

Spoiler :

If he wins, at a little over 50/50 odds, the Medic III Cuirassier can attack the Sword.

We should have done this before moving the mini-stack, but oh well.

Good work jata!

Cash reserves will be fine with the captures.

If there's some support, I can end the current turn so that we know the final GP and can finalize the research plan.

There are very few improvements worth it now, we should be focusing on roads and pre-chopping.

This could be good... we'd get a shot at the SoD in the open rather than behind 40% culture.

Alex's stack is the offensive stack, therefore more likely they will go for Mainz which is a city that they can attack from their own culture tile. Too bad that Bantu gains the 1st ring tiles.

The fortunately thing is that Alex still does not have Eng, so that our stack could raze Naj as planned, but then we have to deal with his SOD next. As I said, they cause 1 turn delay of the war progress. Not a big deal since our plans always remain flexible and adjust to changes.

Good to go from me.

Agree with this, and boosting food in important Exec centers would help.
Re. the war: the main thing for me is that we clear the Catapults in open territory via flank attack, and not inside a city.

I have a slight preference to use the Morale Cuirassier, in the hope that we can attack the stack this turn with the units in Nuremberg.

No worries, then. We may not get an more SMs to the front in time, so I'm fine with not risking it.

Is there any use trying to lure Alex's stack?

EDIT: Forget it, I moved the worker already -_-

It's worth a try.

My feeling is a counter unit will snipe, but that the stack won't move to attack Nappy > us. So move the Worker onto the hill, so that a Horse Archer doesn't steal the Worker and then move immediately back.

I saw your edit. Never mind.

Take "all to Najran" as your default, and move 1 or 2 to Mainz if you are worried about Horse Archers.

Loss of warring turns (if Alex moves his stack into Najran) concern me more than loss of gold (moving our stack into AI territory).

Edit: although I do think it most likely Alex's SOD will move to bombard Mainz, as Duckweed says.

Personally, I'd run 2 more Scientists in CD and forget about the food tiles. We can run an additional 2 Specialists > the food tiles for 4 turns, so +152 :science: .

The rounding of :gold: in DH and BS in not great We can run Scientists here, and Merchants in Ironclad.

Pillage the tile 1NW of Najran with Super Medic Cuirassier.

Santiago Axe can move south, since it has 2-movement it may help at some point.

If you want to increase commerce, the Barcelona area can be reworked, borrowing tiles from Madrid and Toledo.

Is a Lake in Madrid > Plains Hill?

Load the Worker into the Galley, and do the same with the other Worker next turn.

Cancel Dye and Deer deals with Napoleon. Bursa is now at size 15, so trade missions are safe, if we run any more.

honestly, i feel like doing this in a lot of places that won't grow fast enough. RP and many other cities can sacrifice food for beakers.

we're losing 0.24g from rounding by running merchants overall.

done, 10 gold.
santiago axe can move south, since it has 2-movement it may help at some point.
ok.

did a bit of shuffling.
is a lake in madrid > plains hill?
madrid has an academy so yes.
load the worker into the galley, and do the same with the other worker next turn.
great!

ok.

CFC is eating several of my capital letters :gripe:

I want my 0.24 :gold: . :hammer:

(I wasn't sure if rounding was within or across cities).

---

Regarding starving, and food/beakers in the capital, it depends on whether growing to size 18 will make as much of a difference later. An extra Plains Hill mine is worth 7HPT, and +1-pop can be whipped for 52H.
