[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Home Slices

TOA! If only he could get a great prophet and bulb theology... Oh. He will probably build a shrine.
Shrine

Ya, Theology would be perfect.
He could start building the Apostolic Palace.

If it completes while he runs Confu, then we get +2:hammers: in each of our religious buildings the rest of the game.
It it completes while he runs Tao, then he will want to stay in Tao even more and we get nothing.

It would get crazy trying to time things just right as we bribe and spy flip into Confu, and he tries flip back to Tao.

Science city pop will be fixed to 10 if 3 plains river farm are replaced by cottages.
We are having trouble deciding if the capital should aim for Size 10 or Size 9 before replacing the 3 farms with cottages.

I have a different plan for Theology/AP. Get SB to research Theo (or give it to him ASAP).
Get SB to build AP in Confu. ** He will be our opponent ** and we can beat him down to nothing but the AP city.
Peter will vote for us, but we gotta keep is confu pop under ours.

Sneaky AP win, one more path to victory never hurts. :)

I wonder if the AP will have any glitchy behavior with OCC and 7 cities?
Assign Profit City to Charlemagne!

T105 - T106 Missionary
T107 - 3-pop Whip Library
T108 - Another Missionary
T109 - 2 Missionaries go 2W to get on Galley and sail west
Too slow.
Work Fur instead of crab 1t and get another miss moving T106. Those 2 'go long' to the farthest west, non-Tao, mainland Peter cities.

Here is the current screenshots with roads and forests updated when we bought Russia's map.

T105 Path to Russia Real Game
Spoiler :

1 more missionary right away plan
We send 2 missionaries on T106, then St. Petersburg gets spread T115 and Yaroslavl gets spread T116.
If St. Petersburg or Yaro already have Tao, we could try Yaroslavl T116 and Novgorod T118.

Whip Library -> 3rd missionary plan
We send 1 missionary on T105, then it could reach Novgorod T118.
A 2nd could reach St. Petersburg T117.
A 3rd could reach Moscow T118.

How risky is it to wait 2 turns on Philosophy? :hmm:
If Peter starts Angkor Wat on T117 and will no longer trade Philosophy, it would be a small disaster yes.

Peter's Tao missionary is still alive and will probably spread Tao soon to one of Peter's 3 non-Tao cities.

sounds good. Novgorod could have more roads by then and we can get 117.

Or, by T119 would could get all 3 of those cities.

If we're trying to research things that Peter is not and work together, I think a turn of full EP slider on Peter is worth it (assuming that doing this shows us what he's researching). If he goes Feudalism, we go MC and vice versa. Knowing what he's teching will help us a lot.
I'm starting to think 100% slider on Peter on T107 is a good idea.
He has no gold or techs to offer us, so we can not use deduction to figure out if he is teching Monotheism or Currency.
Spoiler :
The more turns he spends wasting teching those 2 things, the more :science: we lose because he is not teching new things for us!
Plus, it really would be helpful to know if he is teching Feudalism or Metal Casting.

Espionage Calculations ====================
Test game indicates 1 turn of max espionage slider would get +150:espionage: against Peter.
Here is the current espionage now.
Spoiler :
Can See Research has a 0.75 modifier and starts at 0.75*(100+0) = 75:espionage:

Unlocking this allows the player to see what the AI is currently teching in the scoreboard in the bottom right of the screen and how many turns to finish the tech at their current tech rate.
If this is ever activated but blank, that means the AI has not put 1 turn into a new tech yet.
Peter has 120:espionage: against us and his Can See Research threshold is 176:espionage:
0.75*(100+120)*modifiers = 176
165*modifiers = 176
Plug in 1.07 because Peter has 107% Cost from having more espionage in the game than us so far.
165*1.07 = 176

Fast forward to T108.
We put 100% slider on Peter T107 (+150:espionage:) and we have:
Us: 186:espionage:
Peter: 135:espionage:

Next, we figure out the % spending adjustment after we add 150 espionage against Peter.
Total Player Espionage spending vs. the AI Total Espionage Spending (__% Cost) is governed by the formula:
(2 * TargetsTotalEPpoints + PlayerTotalEPpoints) / (TargetsTotalEPpoints + 2 * PlayerTotalEPpoints)
Total Espionage Points for the game for Peter is 108 turns * 5 (due to castle) - 15 (3 turns of anarchy) = 525:espionage:
Total Espionage Points for the game for us is 107 turns * 4 + 1 turn *150 - 16 (4 turns of anarchy) = 562:espionage:

_% Cost for us will drop from 107% down to (2*525 + 562) / (525 + 2*562) = 1612 / 1649 = 98% :)

Can See Research on T108 would then become 0.75*(100+135)*0.98 = 172 :espionage:
We would have 186:espionage: and could barely see what Peter is teching on T108.

To maintain vision on what Peter is teching while he keeps adding +5:espionage: per turn against us, we can probably maintain +4:espionage: per turn as long as Peter does not resort to his espionage slider.

I'm inclined to wait. What exactly would we do if we knew he was researching Mono and then Currency? Give him those? for nothing?
We're gonna run out of tech to give him since Paper (and above) is off the table.
It's probably not Mono cus he woulda got that by now (or maybe next turn).

Ya, a free gift of a tech he is going to get himself inches us closer to +1 Diplo from 5 tech trades. (We are currently at 3 tech trades)

Actually, I need to check if we can actually get Friendly Peter on T116 if we bribe him to switch to Confucianism.
The +1 Diplo from tech trades might not be activated yet.

It does not appear we can get +1 Diplo from tech trades, enough to bribe Peter into Confu, AND enough techs to trade for Philosophy all by T116. :hmm:

After a Confu bribe, there would still be 5 turns to grab Philosophy before he switched back to Tao.

We'll make it work. What decisions do we need? Can we agree on no EPs until we see a real need. Maybe T110 we can revisit this.
Are we doing the SB Medi for 20+ OrgRel?

We need to get +4 fair trade with Sitting Bull in the next 12 turns, so we can be somewhat generous with him.

Meditation for 20g and Org. Religion sounds good. :)

Peter slider decision can be put off 2 turns.
I plan on playing this turnset in small pieces since there are a lot of trade considerations.

We could meet the 4 AI at any moment.

Will work on the test game and see what kind of Maoi gold I can work up.

right. Any chance it's a good idea to do 106 miss, 107 whip miss #3, OF into Moai, and then grow and do the library?
Too much whipping in Whales?

I'm still not a fan of that courthouse in Silver.
I don't know that we have as much time before Banking as we thought. The one thing holding us up might be Parthenon. Can we 1-turn it when we get Marble?

Yes, why don't you plan just a couple turns first, and then a plan to get us to T110. I think we need to re-think T111-130. Outside the box.
I'm gonna plan our cities for the double GAges. I think we can get Biology T145-150.

Here's the quick and dirty version of what I'm planning.

We could complete the organic part of research for Biology by T135, but we need the GS's, so we have to get our GAge kicked off with max pop and Parthenon ASAP.
where ASAP = Marble(Parthenon) + Banking (ideally T125)

 Forget about failgold on Sankore before Banking. We finish Sankore ~T160, or probably better we just finish it T125 for it's benefit and failgold something else.
Profit has to do Moai and grow, Whales has to do Parthenon, so failgold is just not piling up.

That means we don't need those useless temples rt now.
No forges, no courthouses.

Universities, yes. Monasteries, yes

Let's be optimistic here:
T125 Banking, Parthenon, Canal GP is born, start GAge.

We have some Moai money left, but we will run out. Fine. Our empire will be doing 600bpt at 0% research.
We only need about 6000-7000 organic :science: to get to Biology. That's just 10-12t.
We will be waiting on our GS's, we can research other stuff we need for sushi, but not critical things.

One way to look at it is we have this 20t GS farming that has to be done, so let's get it done and move on...but now with Biology/NatPark and sushi right around the corner.
Slowing our research a bit (if you can call 600 slow) during the GAge could also mean more time for free tech from Peter.

Reminder, the 20t GS/caste run looks like this:
8t GAge of 7-9 scientists/ city (empty food bin)
4-5t of max food
7t GAge of 7-9 scientists in most cities, maybe not Science.
switch to slavery last turn of GAge.

Yeah, it's best to just have Sankore before the 20t GS caste window.

It's only 200 raw hammers.
We can get at least 30bpt for the 20t caste. That's 600 already.

But with 107-109 at 0%, we won't run out of money until ? T117 or T118.
So no reason to make sacrifices for T115 Moai

And how much $$ are we getting from Moai?
Test Game is showing all 5 of our cities getting close to 250:hammers: in Maoi, so I'd say 1200:gold: will land on turns 116+117.

We can also run 100% slider on Peter T109.
Then 100% slider on a tech (Metal Casting) starting T110.
We can start building Forges T113.
We'd have maybe 10:gold: left at the start of T116, but then all that Maoi gold would land, so 100% science slider all the way.

Perhaps 0% slider is needed on T107 and T108 only. :)

I don't know that we have as much time before Banking as we thought. The one thing holding us up might be Parthenon. Can we 1-turn it when we get Marble?
Test game with final hammers going into Maoi on T115 indicates that Profit City will have marble within its borders on T121.
Our Galley will return from Sitting Bull's land on T115 by entering Clam City.
It can drop off 2 workers near marble on T118.
It can drop off 2 more workers near marble on T119.

It takes 16 worker turns to improve both road and fort.
So marble online T123, not T121.

Yes, Parthenon can absolutely be completed in 1 turn on T123.
Just need to get a forge in Whale City, do the dun trick, store 33 hammers, chop 120:hammers: more from 4 forests.
160*2.5 = 400:hammers: Parthenon done.
