[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Home Slices

Ideally, we send 1 (or two??) wbs south, 1 wb NW beyond 4FSilver and 1 to scout the North-NE sea (this wb could double back after scouting and net a seafood in Canal?). Our team has always been good about scouting and having more map knowledge than other teams which I think has been one of our success factors.

In any event, we won't have time for more than one exploring wb (i.e. the one we already have that is going south) in this turnset so it's more food for thought for WT's turnset.

that annoying pop up after every time we found a new city.
Possibly game ending, but free scouting too
Technically, not game over. I once accidentally gave away a city and I just asked for it back.

Hmmm... It's not too late to send 1st wb to the N-left. If we're going South with galley 1 anyway, and we've already decided Sailing 1st. What do we gain from seeing the South area early?
Or, like someone said, wb1 might be able to return to cows' crabs and wb4 goes NW.

The benefit of going south with wb1 is that it's our fastest path to meeting the other AI in the game. But your point is taken and I'd be fine if wb1 went NW also.

Wb goes south looking for nearby sites with novel resources. Although the chances are NZ hid them inland.

Heh, I'm not sure if we can successfully ask for it back in One City Challenge.

As for the 1st exploration workboat, I still highly favor the south.

If it is just a dead end island, we need to clarify that as soon as possible.
It would have the most dramatic change for our decision going forward.

Exploring the north is easy.
Whip monumentry
Whip workboat
Canal regrows fast at size 1.
The workboat can scout the north and come back to net food in 9 turns.

Right, does early knowledge of this really help us? we can't get there til we can get there.
Anyway, just threw that out there. I agree we should check out the south. What do we gain by going NW and finding AI? they'll find us.
And it's pretty far for maintenance costs if we're thinking we'd find stone, etc there.

Here'd be a couple pros of wb1 to NW tho:
1) circumnav sooner
2) TR's to AIs needs a defogged path

The message always pops up 1 turn after settling if the AI capital is closer than the player capital.

Giving such a city away with a button click is a nice way to establish contact with an unmet AI city trapped behind mountains if going for an AP win in a regular game.

**Edit**
Uhh, it does not really work if the player is a cultural civ (+2:culture: per turn) or has Stonehenge.
The culture messes Liberate distances up.

Hmm, now that I look, test game Egypt was overseas which should have doubled the distance for Liberate. :hmm:
Will have to test that more later.

I don't think overseas test Egypt should have gotten the chance to get a Liberate from Silver City according to my current understanding.
It might be because we are playing One City Challenge and every city that is not our capital can be Liberated no matter what, so we will get that annoying pop up after every time we found a new city.

In my test save we could liberate canal and cows but not Silver. So not all of our cities.

If we are relatively certain we are going to settle Whales then maybe we should move that settler to Silver when we can do it with no supply costs.

Ya, it can also watch for AI near whales while we wait.

I'll move the southern settler into cows, and the cow city settler to whale.

Playing Real Game now from PPP 1.3
Will play until T25.

T22 - 3 out of 4 settlers on the move.
Barracks removed from Cow and Science City queue.

T23 - Horses are connected to capital. Tech The Wheel to get chariots.
Moved Shepherd to forest next to wine.
Sitting Bull still putting 6 :espionage: on us.
No strange borders spotted.

T24 - Work boat 1 unfogs 4 empty tundra tiles.
Tundra tile 8S2W of Science City if I squint at fog.
No strange culture.

T25 - Bit of forest tundra spotted.
