[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Home Slices

yep. I guess we have to assume there's 2-3 food there and we'll settle it for the island trade rts.
?assuming its not on our landmass?
Is it another canal?
Probably has metals.
I can't imagine it's just an island with 1 crab. The mapmaker can't let us down like that.
Just go ahead with sailing.
Green light.

Ya, let's just continue with the plan exploring west with the workboat.

I'll go ahead with sailing and play a few more turns in 15 minutes.

Playing Real Game now from PPP 1.3
Turnset #2

Continuing from here

T25 - 30% on Sailing.

T26 - Oh! Stone on tundra 3W1S of that crab down there.
100% on Sailing.

T27 - Workboat reached a corner going west.
Will sail south next turn.
Monument comolested in Cow City starting workboat.

T28 - Nothing so far. Starting to look like an island.

T29 - Still nothing. Starting to sail east.

T30 - Whale spotted 4S of crabs.
The city can have 6:food: and a stone quarry, but none of it is in 1st ring.
Only 2 tundra forests are in 1st ring.

T31 - Omg, Marble tundra spotted 3S3E of crab. No forests...
Have 141/156 in sailing with +20 beakers this turn.

T32 - Sailing is ours.
Cow City made a workboat.
Sitting Bull is willing to accept our horse and sheep.
Scout workboat is almost certain the south is a hotdog shaped island.

Gonna upload the game in 5 minutes.
Getting tired.

Game paused and uploaded!

Ouch. I suppose if NZ gives us 2 'real' food, everyone settles there--no brainer. Now it's a debate.
If it was a fish instead of crab, I'd be much happier settling there.

Ok, now I'm almost certain Stonecity has metals, because it's almost unplayable as-is. Marble is even more a nightmare! (no forests!)
Copper must be at crabs-2S so you get it whether you settle stone or marble (like anyone would settle on the marble side)
Maybe the marble side has additional food?

Great work, Kait! I'm gonna sign off since you also said you're done.
Need to think about how bad we want how we can get by without stone.

Thanks :)

We almost have to take the stone.
That is cheap Pyramids, Moai Statues, Oxford, Kremlin, and 7 stone-type cathedrals.
Lovely fail gold on all other stone wonders.

We can chop a monument, wait 10 turns, improve stone, then try to build Oracle down there at 5:hammers: per turn.
With 2 more chops, that is uhh, 22 turns?
8:culture: per turn will get us that marble eventually.

Canal can just struggle to get Colossus later while Cows build Pyramids which will be our strongest wonder if we really want to do mass pacifism scientists.

**Edit**
Ugh, tundra stone is 1:food: 3:hammers: when improved.
We won't be building crap down there with only 6:food:

Production on this map might be a problem if we have to build 500:hammers: or 800:hammers: wonders later without stone.

Can't really whip kremlin.

Great playing, Kait! :goodjob:

Hotdog-shaped or turd? Music beeline anyone?

Moai + growth + Golden Age could get its bldgs done I imagine.

This game is totally set up to make you regret (or not) settling sorry sites.

I was thinking the only way to do stone is also what Kait said. An early wonder to get marble, but let's see how that wonder could happen and when we get marble. I'll start with Oracle. The nice thing about this being the Prophet city is that it doesn't have to build much and nothing late game (like broadcast, Industrial park, intell etc) The other option is maybe GreatLH (puts the city on the hook for WallSt. and it's only 6 :culture:)
Of course, there could be copper, but let's see...

Roughly
settle T44
anarchy 1t
monument - 5t
borders 10t (prep lighthouse/granary once Pottery arrives for two 2-pop whips) (road to stone after Wheel)
size 4: 17t (quarry 6-7 turns? -- needs Masonry)
(need priesthod ~T77)
2-whip granary, max OF into Oracle (+30h)
size 3: 8t @ 4hpt (62h in Oracle)
size 4: 4t @ 4hpt (78h Oracle)
whip lh + 2chops (@ 30h with Math) (170 oracle) (overshot but probably we didn't total max lh and granary, so hopefully at least 150 with tuning.)

Let's count that up...
Turn 89 Oracle (civil service?)

(9:culture /t) Marble is probably +50t after Oracle . Seems too late for G.Lib
Turn 139 marble

Seems we’re now in position to map out the game. WT said the first goal was settling all seven cities. Now we should optimize which cities will be where, based on getting to biology ASAP and finishing all the builds in each city.

How important is iron? Do we need to save the seventh settler for IW?

With T43, we could wait for T44 BW to make final settling decision.
seems wise. That was a very quick/rough plan for Oracle Didn't figure in too many variables. No idea if we can get the tech we need. CoL by T90? And will Oracle even last that long?

We also can just forget about trying so hard to get Marble.
