[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Home Slices

Wait, all the poking around gets saved?
I need to test this!
It is remembered only while you have the save open. So if you do a bunch of unit moves while pause is on and then un-pause, all of those queued-up moves will occur. If you exit the game and reload, you start fresh and all of the queued moves you had made get reset. As long as you exit and reopen before you start playing, you should be fine.

I just Paused the test game, moved the Warrior, saved, reloaded the fresh save, Unpaused, and the Warrior...
Stood still. :whew:

You almost gave me a heart attack WastinTime!

Right, thanks.

In science city after granary is completed, It's 21f/26f with 5f surplus. on the next turn, 5f is released from granary without halt. With halt 2t, granary releases 14f. So it's 14-5=9f for 2 turn on wine farm 4f2h4c. Do I understand it correctly?
Ya, the Granary doesn't start storing food until after it is completed.
The pause button makes the city go to 26/26:food: and gives the granary an extra turn to build up a bigger food bonus.

The math behind it is a real headache for me, so I can't describe it with any kind of general solution.
I recommend trying both ways with the test game to see if the Avoid Growth button leaves the city with extra food.

in 25 words or less :twitch:
If 8 of our land tiles are touched by Sitting Bull's land tiles, then he will give the following diplomatic penalties when our culture steals tiles from his cities' big fat crosses: (All the tiles a city has with 10:culture:)

-1 for 0 to 3 land tiles stolen
-2 for 4 to 11 land tiles stolen
-3 for 12 to 19 land tiles stolen
-4 for 20+ land tiles stolen

Things are much better if we share a short border with Sitting Bull or a border that mainly occurs over water.
-1 for 9 to 16 land tiles stolen
-2 for 17 to 20+ land tiles stolen

Are we going to try to chop the forests SE of Canal before they get swallowed up by SB's culture? It's a trek for a worker to get there and back but it might be worth it for the "free" hammers. Do we know how much longer we have for the furthest forest (i.e. the one closest to SB)?

How greedy can we afford to be?
There might be AI across the water from Sitting Bull that would give us countless :science: by trading techs.

Closed borders would mean we need Spies or Caravels to scout past him.

Plus, there is no way to tell when he settled his 3rd city due to OCC settings.

I think we should take a 10 turn gamble.

SB would probably settle clamcrab before wheat. Either way, I’m not seeing any negmods because we don’t become a land target from one of the cities. Furthermore we need OBs to walk a missionary on there.

Yeah, I think if you're at peace that will update 3 even if you can't see the city.
Try it in our test game please.
I am away from computer.

The mapmaker has made a minesweeper version of civ 4 with hidden traps even I did not know existed.

Alphabet is the 1st trap.
No fist to warn of war trap.
Spread out wonders causing diluted great people.
That gold island for people who think their cities will get big.
7 settlers that can crash the economy.
Fine print to read.
Iron hard to get?
Feels like there are more.

Ooh, so you're saying just because it's OCC that # doesn't change? Well, then we use the 1st thing I said about score.

I've just checked in the test game, and the number of cities only updates on the scoreboard when one of our units sees the AI city.
So we need to use indirect means to tell if Sitting Bull made a 3rd city.

Here is the Turn 56 to T65 Demographics.

T65 Sitting Bull's capital Cahokia is Size 2 and has just a Castle and a Palace.
Spoiler :

T65 Poverty Point is Size 3 and has a Granary in the center of the city.

Here is the espionage production data for each city.
Using the formula: :hammers: in AI City build = (Sabotage Production / City Revolt) * (650/6)

Cahokia 1whip settler? Pop2>1 now?
Yes, on Turn 59 Sitting Bull had a new Settler for sure.

Well, then we use the 1st thing I said about score.
1 extra empire population is instantly +6 points on the scoreboard I think, but it might depend on how much food is on the map.

Turn 63 has a suspicious score increase for Sitting Bull I'd say.
He settled his 3rd city on Turn 63?
Or maybe Turn 65?
Or he got more land 20 turns ago or a new tech?
(I'm not really sure how to read score)

With such low population and production, I don't think Sitting Bull can easily make another 95:hammers: Settler if he already used his T59 Settler.

Score points for this game:
Ancient tech: 6 points
Pop: 9 points
Land tile: 2.5 points

SB’s power graph is essential to knowing what tech he got T65.

Maps
According to Kait’s divine Civ Illustrated, SB will give us his maps at Annoyed. This could be our fastest way to explore the world if my hypothesis is right that the mystery two SB power points is some unit exploring the other AIs.

SB Spies
SB will continually poison the water in Canal, according to Kait. I don’t think we need alphabet before we meet any other AIs. Let’s hope SB doesn’t tech it forever.

Once he does get alphabet, we might consider using the counterespionage mission on him every 10 turns.

SB to Friendly

+1 peace
+2 resource trades
+2 open borders
+3 shared religion
+4 good trade relations

SB will demand tribute a lot. Will we get plus mods from that?
