[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Home Slices

Canal City
Rex's TundraMine arrives T71. Perfect timing! Canal grows to size 3. I think the LH has 5 hammers?
I'd wanna try
T71 - T73: LIghthouse; crab, clam, mine
(17/60)
Then either 2 turns at 6h or 3 turns at 4h....
T74 - T75: LIghthouse; crab, clam, mine (+either forested tundra? or coast)
T76 or T77 : LH (29/60), 2-whip
T77 or T78 : Mids

I like how this looks. Just depends if the mine for 2Clams needs Rex.

I could do the same micro with foresttundrahill and whip 23/60 lighthouse.

Plus Rex would have 2 more math chops into Mids somewhere.

We don't have forever to chop/whip into mids.
I think we will want to cash it in around the mid 90s so we can hop back into Rep+Slavery.

I am also uneasy counting on Henge gold.
We don't get it and Oracle slips to T79.

If we do get it and re-invest it putting hammers into mids, then we can't spend it getting fast iron working.

I love fail gold, but the tundra mine feels like too much with Math coming soon.

Still gotta chop 3 forests in Cow City, fix the road, and improve the jungle gems.
Just that is 33 worker turns.

I really did look at mining that hill T64 based off LTC's fail gold economy post, but it takes forever to improve.

Ok, I'm sold. More prechops for mids. No tundramine.
Not sure it's worth it to work the tundraforest tho. Maybe before lighthouse is complete is ok-- a little. it will depend on growth timing.

Even tho, when you mentioned Math is not here, but just coming soon, it makes me think now is the right time for a mine vs chops. But pre-chops are ok even tho they waste turns moving. And that forested hill is 7t to mine, so with movement, that takes up the entire turnset for 1 worker.

Poverty Point still doesn’t have have a totem pole. Not sure if SB even has Mysticism yet. Forests are safe for a while.

In short, you’re saying we need more workers, right?

The extra plain tiles, river and seafood is hard to resist. Yes to settling 2clam. The remaining question is when to settle.
The canal city is probably where our first GS is born, after switching to caste system. Perhaps we need to support as many civilian scientists as possible to dilute Gspy points? If so, I'd like to have the lighthouse whip OF into a 3rd work boat and not building and working on tundra mine.

Interesting.

Settling 2clam at T69, work boat arrives 1t after. whipped monument in whale at T68 and OF into GW at T69
In canal whipped for workboat instead of lighthouse. 2clam 1chop 1 whip for a granary

Edit: NO SH failgold. Cows builds a 2nd work boat heading west

Great News MirrorGuard :goodjob: Looks like we have a solid direction. Let's see a 3 turn detailed PPP and get this thing moving.
I'll have to try to understand why Canal wouldn't just 2whip a lh instead of wb once I see the plans.

If we tech Mono and switch to OR, we can chain-maxOF missionaries, putting 75+h OF
I believe it's 67h, not 75, but we could get some value here. ofc OrgRel costs at least -2 upkeep.

This lead me to thinking about the civics switches we have to do.
In an ideal world, I see 3 turns of anarchy:

T81 - ish?
Bureau + OrgRel (thx LC)
(sorry 2Clams, no caste artist for you)
Crap! we don't have Poly yet
Ugh, this delays IW.
Hopefully? we meet an AI that gives us Alpha, Poly, Mono, IW.
This plan might be falling apart, but here's how it would work (if this was Deity, and the AI didn't suck)...

T90? or T95-ish? (after we get Mids)
Caste + Rep

5 turns later:
Probably in Science? (or maybe Silver or Whales) gets us a 100% GS to bulb Philo
Slavery, Pacifism

Science stops working scientists to focus on growth/failgold
All three of these cities (if not more) should have a library. Ideally before the caste+rep switch. or whip it now.

T110-ish : using 2 library scientists, Silver (or Whales) gets 100% GS #2 for Edu
Science cannot afford to run 2 scientists for a long period of time. No food.

Then all Free switches during GAs....

1st Golden Age free switch: Caste, Merc when/if it's available (another reason GLH is not ideal).
Before End GA: Slavery, OrgRel?

(5 turn gap)

2nd Golden Age: Caste, Pacifism, Merc if we haven't yet
Before End GA: Slavery, OrgRel?

Biology

And all this talk about missionaries got me thinking about our Victory Condition.

If 'kill em all' seems like too much work
Or we want to try to use the AI as research buddies,
Or if several AI have lots of sushi resources to give us,
what's the other victory options assuming we build Colossus (no UN)

Culture: We can't make this work without 6+ religions and I don't see how to make that happen. Even with 7 religions, I'm not sure this is very fast.

Space: no way

So our only prayer (so to speak) is Religious:

Option A:
Watch the AI that gets Theo and flip them into Confu with a spy before they whip the AP. This is a little risky and the spy missions can fail, yada yada.
Beat this AI down to the one city with the AP since he is our opponent. And beat down anyone else who tries to get more Confu population than we have.

Option B: easier?, safer plan
Kill the founder of Christianity and give Theo to some religion-less AI who we use our 1 Tao missionary on (Sitting Bull?). (someone who is not likely to vote for us anyway) and let them build the AP in Taoism.
Why Tao and not Confu?
Cus we'll spread Confu to ourselves first and wanna run the entire game in Confu.
Spread Confu and Flip the rest of the world to Confu so they are all Friendly with us, and hate the AP bullder.
Before the final vote, we spread Tao to anyone that doesn't have it.
* Note/Warning: if we think we'd want to switch to Tao on the final turn for double votes, then we have to build Tao temples vs Confu temples and the correct Cathedral (both copper btw).

I suppose we're still screwed if an AI requires paratroopers, so 'Kill em all' is still probably #1, but it would be nice to cooperate with the AI for change. Sad they're so pathetic (as far as we can see rt now.)

lol, I forgot we're not past that yet. Hmm.. We do need Medi to bulb Philo, but maybe it's free by then?
Hmm.. 32:science: more

Wait, no. It's T65, not 55. You fooled me. :hammer2:
Fooled myself. Had a brain fart. I reverted to one of our earlier plans with writing before the priesthood path. :wallbash:

Tried to snip it before you read it.

We still need to figure out the next workboat for Whales because it is crucial.
I favor chopping it in Whales instead of deer and you want to start building it in Cows on T66.
Stonehenge gold hmm.
This sounds like an interesting gamble. :)
If the AI builds Stonehenge and we see the message on T77, then you saved us a forest and we gain a 60:gold: chop for Mids because Cows City still maxed out on Stonehenge money and we got the workboat out too.
If the AI builds Stonehenge earlier than T77, then we missed some Stonehenge gold but still saved a forest.
If the AI builds Stonehenge T73 or earlier, we missed out on 60:gold: from Stonehenge, but still have that forest chop for 60:gold: in Pyramids. Just Iron Working etc. will be slower. hmm

Workboat in Canal feels like less food and more money. :hmm:
If it pays the bills, then that might let us work Rice in capital more which is a net win over Lighthouse.

Having 1 Worker chop both forests for Oracle?
That would save a lot of Worker turns sure.
How confident is our team feeling for Oracle?
Looks like Dun whips went out 1 turn early and the next turn worker chopped and then chopped.
Uhh, the Dun whip fizzled in Science City.
You have to pillage the road the next turn to get Stone back or the 50:hammers: into Pyramids won't turn into 100:hammers:

I figured out Rex without wasting any Worker moves!
T65 - Send him to that forest hill for Clams.
T68 - Mine hill for 7 turns
T74 - Mine completion chops forest automatically :D
There, no prechopping wasted moves.

What's the crucial part and when does it need the wb?

Spoiler Zoomed out T65 Empire :

It needs seafood netted on T79.

It is crucial because the city has both Silver and Horse.
With 2 seafood it can regularly produce max overflows into Pyramids and good commerce.
With 1 seafood it is crippled.

**Edit**
Wait!
Whale City needs seafood netted T78 and Cow City needs to start its Workboat now on T65.
I think Mirrorguard delayed the Monument whip 1 turn somehow to put the Great Wall overflow in on T69 instead of T68.

**Edit2**
Ok, I think I see it now.
Mirrorguard delayed Monument whip 1 turn in Whale City so that Whale City would be working Silver mine T78 instead of seafood for more :science:
That also let 16:gold: more go into Stonehenge on T65.
Workboat started T66.
