There's also a trick I like to use, but I don't think we can count on it.
If I check 'Show Friendly moves', and don't check 'quick moves' IBT you get to see their research after you add EPs, but before they add theirs.
So, you have to watch cus it will disappear.
I don't trust it. It might depend on your graphics settings, but works on my machine.
Anyway, We can just do 135 or 136 to be safe.

WT, did you figure when an AI chooses a tech path two or three techs deep?
They examine every tech within 3 reach and then score it (with a lot of random weights)
Only when they choose a free tech they look 1 deep and 'ignore cost'.
 
Quick, play the next turn at 100% EP slider before WT wakes up and sees what he wrote.
If I knew we were gonna start research so soon, I mighta done 100% EPs last turn. But we didn't know we'd get 60g this turn.
I'm a little worried Peter is going to make a lot of courthouses, but maybe we can keep up once he meets SB and splits his spending.
 
So do they select three techs at a time or what?
No, they just score only the techs that they can reach in 3 picks. (so they don't score Advanced Flight, etc. this early)
So if Optics comes up as the 'bestTech' cus they have 37 whale tiles, they'd pick Compass next.
 
135 seems easy. We can do that without all the tweaks.
There are some questions about rounding, so 138 would be better than 135.

This is a good idea though!
We can pull forward some stuff and give it back next turn.

Silver works silver mine this turn and coast next turn, no food or hammer loss.
Cow works 2 fur instead 2 river farms, then next turn coast instead of fur. 1 food loss and a few hammers lost for Maoi
Clam city works coast instead of farm, 1 hammer loss for Maoi.

There, we can see what Peter is teching next turn I'm almost certain.

Bah, the Workers can't do much starting around T111 without Iron Working.
Partially cottaging farms that won't becomes used cottages for a long, long time doesn't help much.
Maybe farm up Clam City hmm.

I don't want to mess with food too much or delay whips.

I'll try to have the PPP up in 30 minutes.
I want to play 1 turn and then talk over workers and teching after that.

Do we have any estimate when we might get Iron Working?

I'm imagining trades like this:
maybe get IW from SB?
Peter, wait for about 6-8 turns til we have Machinery (and Friendly is an option)
MC for Confu + (IW if we don't have it)
same turn: Machinery+gold? for Feudalism, begin Guilds.
Get Guilds in 4t (or 5 is ok right?)
Give Guilds for Philo.+ gold

Just to be sure: we get 6 turns of Friendly, not 5, right? If we bribe Confu on T117 for example, Peter is still Confu T122 and is Tao again T123.
 
I think we have to cancel the ch in Canal, and maybe a couple other things. Banking is now due 127ish if you include Aes, which I still hope to get free.
Seems like Parthenon is what we'll be waiting on. Or maybe we get Music too before the GAge so Canal would not need to get a GP to start it.
Let's see what Peter picks next.
