The graphs have been updated. I won't change them again until Bugsy's team has finished......

Sorry to keep you tied up on this MB... At least with the less hectic pace you'll have time to think about SGOTMnext. Was the idea to replay in order? If not, I'd like another shot at some of the later Cracker ones. There was one where he introduced javelins with a defensive bombard, but I don't recall what it was.

That was GOTM21-Greece. The Minoans were the AI with the Peltast unit.

Hey MB, how come Team Bugsy's line is soooo muuuuch loooongeeeerrr than ... OOP! Nevermind, I see that everbody else has finished...

(@MB: Consider this payback spam for the RCP epiphany in the TDG :p )

I think we'll spare all the new players the modern GOTM download for one more month, just to get them properly hooked ;) ... then we'll look at the more recent games.

... And I have no problem with team Bugsy taking longer to finish. Quite the opposite in fact.

Nor do I... I did not mean to sound like I was making fun of Bugsy and his team.

Are you committed to starting a new SGOTM every month, or might bi-montly or quarterly starts encourage teams to play to victories that require a game to develop more?

As a member of Bugsy's team, let me assure all those fast finishers, that we are taking a more civilized approach to victory, with a combination space launch and conquest win as our target. We've isolated Abe in American Hell and Hiawatha is sitting in Grand River waiting for an Immortal stack to remove him from our sight. We just entered the Industrial Age, researching at a 4-turn tech pace and have shifted to 15-turns per player speed. We've probably got another 2-3 sets each (SWAG), so we'll probably be done in time for the next game. Just a side note, we'll probably have all of the AA/MA/IA wonders. It's not often that happens in a GOTM.

@ Denyd: Please don't think I was making fun of your team. As you well know, MB got me good with some RCP stuff in another thread. :wallbang: I was trying to be funny by spamming up his thread.

I personally would love to see you guys pull off a combination Spaceship/conquest on the same turn, but I must say I'm disappointed that you dropped the 100k cultural victory from your team's original multi-win goal. :p All bonuses and scores and points and such aside, I think it would be neat to see you guys pull it off.

(I should quit trying to be funny - I'm not good at it.)

Grrrrr, :)
all people laugh at us,

wait until you have seen the scores of the last gotm ( and of our sgotm) We just played more civilized. :p

Hey - we played civilized too! We played it just like Polo - and what could be more upper crust than that? (Does anybody here know who invented polo, and why?)

@Denyd

What was the predicted best date for a space race win on this map? I don't know what it is but you may be able to pass us if you beat it significantly as we only beat the conquest date by 10-15 turns. Or maybe you won't have to as you will also have the 10% bonus.
I guess Team Bugsy will be aiming to beat us and Team jeff - I don't think you have much chance of passing the teams with the variant bonuses

Actually, if they pull a 'hat trick' and get multiple win conditions, I think there are some nice bonuses for that too... and even if there aren't any bonuses I think we oughta make up a "Holy Cow" award if they manage to pull it off. (I, for one, would be 'duly impressed')

that's definitely true, but no use complaining as it's still good fun, even if we come in last ;) btw, you're probably just jealous cause we all get along :D :p

The next game will start at the beginning of week 3 in May. 15th May is firm now. For the time being I am not going to chisel a schedule into a tablet of stone since each game will be different and take more or less time depending on the usual stuff...

But, as a guide, we hope to be running games between 6 and 8 weeks apart as appropriate. Remember, it's possible to play more than one of these at a time... but OTOH I am very conscious of not prising people away from the Blue Ribband event - GOTM proper.

With all the help max-bax has given me, it is the least Team Bugsy can do to help out MB's work load. We most definitely have won the cow award for the first SGOTM. :D
