SGOTM6 - Xteam

Good Going Gator! Sorry to hear about your eye. Is that related to the bug you're incubating?

It had nothing to do with the bug I picked up last week, that one passed rather quickly. The Doc said it's probably related to an upper respitory infection that hit the eyes thru the mucus membranes. Left eye is major infection, right eye is minor infection. He put me on a steriod antibiotic drops and wants to see me early next week again. Told me not to wear my contacts which I haven't worn in several months anyhow, so no loss there.

I'm back playing again, so I'll post another update later.

Hope your eye clears up. Eye infections are no fun!

Good thing you just got that nice, big, clear LCD monitor. :D

Keep up the good work. :goodjob:

I see CDZ have started to make a move. They may well catch Jeff, though I doubt if they can do anything to Offa.

Great work, Gator! Looks like our treasury will hold out, too - though IIRC we have some deals with other civs coming up for renewal soon, so it's not clear if we'll be able to keep up our income from other civs. But at least we have a chunk of cash on hand and the option of switching back to despotism if necessary near the end.

Question: do towns accumulate culture during the in between turn of anarchy? If not, we delay our win for a turn by switching governments. So the treasury better hold....

There's a happy bunch of people :mischief:

I wouldn't know, but I bet they're quite upset that they're eating Offa's dust.

PS I see we are now ahead of tao on player posts in absolute numbers as well as posts per turn. I think, on the whole, that's a good sign. After all quite a lot of our posts are highly relevant, and sometimes even helpful to the incumbent mouseketeer ... I think

Had to post this as a double as the editor seems to be screwed up. :mischief:

I wonder if the graphs will start bending backwards... a parabola would be cool. :)

What's that supposed to mean?
I think it means that CDZ was one of the favored teams heading into this and they have been lagging based on the culture graph.

OK, here's the 1320AD update.

Turn 254 - 1320AD
culture 61609, 2556 cpt, a 62cpt increase
Treasury at 5016
draft 34 rifles

military at start of turn: 5 settlers, 42 explorers, 37 rifles and 6 cannons
that's 1010 moveable shields

Sell Wmap around the horn, net other Wmaps and less than 10gold, no other gpt trades out there

take care of unhappiness in 13 cities (11 of which are draft cities and fixed themselves after drafting)

Found: DeForest Kelly / Bones /

rushed 4 settlers

rushed Temples: DeForest Kelley / Bones [2]

rushed libraries: Death of a forest / Deforestation / Let's Get Along / Part of the Problem / Rocky Lake / Shepard's View / End of the Rainbow / French Chateau / On the Rocks / Panama Lite / Squeeze 'em in / With Love / Smith's Haven / Silk & Water / Approaching the Thames [15]

rushed cathedrals: Burdigala3 / Cataractonium3 / Durocortorum3 / Lindum3 / New Burdigala3 / New Gergovia3 [6]

rushed unis: New Burdigala2, X marks the spot

military at end of turn: 3 settlers (2 in place to settle), 2 explorers, 3 rifles, 22 cavs

That’s a 75 point increase :whipped:

I may need to run our spending at over 300gpt to gain some more shields. I'm pushing it now so that hopefully Gyathaar can take it easy at the end of his turnset and we can gain that earlier finishing date. One of my draft cities hit the happiness wall and was requiring 3 clowns so I rushed a univ there. Overall, I've got a nice little system set up.

EDIT: Added turn rollover details

cycle thru cities and set builds - end turn at -277gpt

IBT - FRA & VIK action / FRA attacked the last IRQ city (that would open up a few sites for us if they eliminate the IRQ)

Turn 255AD - 1325AD
64240 culture, 2631cpt, a 75 cpt increase
Treasury 4747
draft 32 rifles
military at start of turn: 7 settlers (including the 3 from last turn), 42 explorers, 35 rifles, 14 cannons
that’s 1050 moveable shields

That's it for tonight, I'll play more tomorrow after work.

assuming 75cpt increase:

0 cptpt: 1395AD
18 cptpt: 1390AD
54 cptpt: 1385AD
103 cptpt: 1380AD

125 cpt rushed the next two turns gives 1390AD with 0cptpt increase

(that is 2 turns of 62cptpt )

I'd still feel more comfortable at 1385 AD if we can possibly achieve it. We aren't going to catch Jeff and Offa, and CDZ look like they're gearing up for a fast finish. But it would be nice to come in at the front of the rest.

And those are all C3C teams that played with the agricultural extra food in city center bonus in the coast towns even in despotism. So we could say they don't count. :D

54 cptpt for 12 turns is still a lot - almost 650 cpt needs to be added. Looks like a fun challenge to me - as long as I'm not the one doing all the MM! :p

You're right. They don't count, as we are playing for a different award. But that makes beating a few C3C teams all the sweeter if we can manage it :D

We are now at 2631cpt. At 1300 AD we were at 2188cpt, so we've added 443cpt in 4 turns ... :goodjob: Gator! I calculated then that we had 858cpt available, not counting universities. I think Gator has now built 28 universities = an additional 112cpt. So we should still have 527cpt available in the towns Gator started with, plus 8 cpt for each additional town he has built. I'd be surprised if Gator hasn't already built 12 more towns. If so, and if we build the 3 base culture buildings in all the towns, we reach over 600cpt, with no more universities.

Hopefully Gator can rush a lot during his turns so I dont have to do anything..
Actually, I hope he builds enough new towns to keep you busy at trying for 1380 AD! ;) Although I think it will be an outside shot; but the way Gator is going, you never know!! :goodjob:

It will be interesting to see where the other teams end up. I'm thinking Tao and Peanut should be around a 1395 AD finish. A 1385 finish would be sweet, but not as sweet as 1380.... :mischief: :D
