SheepNES: Modern Battlefields: MAIN THREAD

OOC: Fair enough, but Russia is no kinder now then they were 20 years ago. Hardly surprised with a KGB president. Ah well... i wonder if that area will actually become important in the eyes of the world soon... Hmm

Angela Merkel stands before a Press Conference, the German people and the World. Berlin, 17 August 2008

On this day nearly 50 years ago a young man by the name of Peter Fechter bled to death after trying to cross a wall in this very city. It took him an hour to die as onlookers from both sides watched and did nothing. He died because our people were so afraid of each other that they wouldnt risk their lives to save his.

As i see it our world is moving dangerously close to this. Only there is no wall. There is no, east and west. There is only mankind spread out across this world as we are. With all our vices and virtues. With all our strengths and weakness'. The world we live in, is a world that lives in fear, fear of the unknown and fear of each other.

I will not stand for this, no German will fear any other German or for that matter any other human this world has to offer. We will stand upright, proud to call our neighbours our brothers, proud of their achievments and our own. Proud of our world and our nation.

Recently our allies left our nation for fear of repercussions if they remained, from you, my people. I asked them to leave because while our allies, certain unsavoury characters, that no doubt can be found in any society, ruined it. I will not stand for injustice, because my people deserve better. I and my allies and friends are no more exempt from the law than any other and so steps were taken.

I cannot promise 100% reduction to crime and terror. But i can promise you this. Germany is walking into a new age and we will be a power to be reckoned with. We will not bow down to terror but likewise we will not bow to international bullies. For they are one in the same. Most importantly, Germany will once again be able to rely upon Germany for its defense.

Germany will be strong.

It is expected that the Minister of Finance, James Flaherty, will be submitting and proposing the budget for approval in parliament some time this week. This is a monumental occaision in Canadian politics because of the chance that the budget will not be approved therfor bringing about a vote of no confidence.

The current Prime Ministers approval ratings have dipped since the escalation in violence in Afghanistan. Political Analysts perceive there to be an election in Late January Early Feburary. The opposition frontrunner, Jack Layton, seems to be the choice for those in opposition to Prime Minister Harpers seat.

We will keep you posted on new developments on Canada’s Parliament.

A VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE PASSES

Yesterday the proposed budget put forth by, James Flaherty, the Minister of Finance was voted down in parliament. The opposition questioned the budget when Minister Flaherty announced the plan to increase government spending of Military and the UK-Afghan Joint Rebuilding Campaign. The Budget also included a plan to cut taxes. Many were surprised at the amount of spending that was included in the budget.

We also received word today that the current Prime Minister Harper has reported to the Governor General and announced that he has lost the confidence of the government. Elections will now be held for the position of Prime minister of Canada.

The two contenders for this election are Prime Minister Stephen Harper of the Conservative Party and Jack Layton leader of the New Democratic Party.

JACK LAYTON IS SWORN IN AS THE 23RD PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA

Yesterday the Governor General swore in the leader of the New Democratic Party, Jack Layton. The Prime Minister ran on a platform of peace and development of Canadian educational system. He has also promised to rework the status of Canadian troops in Afghanistan. It is suspected that the Canadians will make a small withdrawle from the International Coalition in Afghanistan.

Prime Minister Layton is schedualed to address the nation in the coming days about his plans.

JACK LAYTON IS SWORN IN AS THE 23RD PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA

OOC: I wish. Never going to happen, but I wish.

Stephane Dion. or a Harper Majoritity (chreitienism)

OOC: Whatever, it could happen and the circumstances are right so I dont much care whether it will or will not happen in real life. If Bush can be assasinated by a crazed man running through a crowd really anything could happen.

human, you just picked a party comming in third to beat two parties ahead of it, both of them at least 20 seats larger.... short of every single Conservative or Liberal in Canada having a heart attack it would never happen

do i sense a coup?

actually i was talking about canada

upon further inspection it looks as though Syria has had a coup

I obviously dont know what im doing when it comes to leading Canada. I will lead myself to the door. Maybe I will return later in the game when everything isnt always based on real life

EDIT: Actually Screw it I will stay and for all you naysayers of Jack Layton become Prime Minister check it at the door. This is an ALTERNATE TIMELINE NES meaning it doesent always happen like suggested. Like a modern day president being assasinated in broad day light among Security and sharpshooters.

ooc Only in my wildest dreams I could hope for such a title in the news. Hey it could happen. Stephan Dion can't speak English( or not very good) and is slowly starting to drop in the polls and the NDP and Green party are picking the votes up.

From United Kingdoms of Great Britain Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
To the newly elected Prime Minister of Canada Jack Layton (it still gives me a warm feeling inside)

We congratulate you on your victory of becoming Prime Minister of Canada. We hope you will keep to your promises in helping the environment for we are heading the same way. I personally hope to have a meeting with the new Prime Minster Jack Layton soon. We hope we can talk further on the war in Afghanistan and hope we can come to an agreement.

Like a modern day president being assasinated in broad day light among Security and sharpshooters.
OOC: Again, modern security proceedures developed since JFK did little to nothing to help RFK, Ford (from not one but two assassination attempts) or Reagan. Or Saddam trying to kill Bush Sr. Or Al Qaeda trying to kill Clinton. Nor from a grenade being tossed at GWB. Not that it was my call whether it happened or not to begin with. Story made short, everyone who keeps whining about the impossibility of it can shove it, because it's not impossible or even implausible at all.

ooc: I agree with you I was only comparing my situation with yours about people whining and complaining about things seeming not plausible. I thank Symph for actually making this game fun by adding a little spice to the kitchen.

OOC: To Human-slaughter

I was merely saying that Jack Layton winning was improbable. Nothing is impossible, or as the video goes, Impossible is Nothing. Stranger things than that HAVE happened, so this could always too. (even more OOC: I REALLY hope this happens). I second Canuck's statement of pretty much everything in his last post. Also, it isnt the green or communist/ bloq quebecois winning, so its plausible. Though TECHNICALLY the bloq could win if the green, NDP, Libs, and tories all split everything and bloq won all of quebec.

ooc: Im sorry I diddnt really understand the last like 3 sentences but thats okay. Thanks for the support.

ooc: Stop the whole ooc and use the time instead for diplo and stories.

To Columbia, Venezuala
From Brazil

The lack of control Columbia shows over her own borders is quite....alarming. If one nation allows it people to descend into that level of squalor, imagine the message that it will send to the criminal like of others. Therefore we propose that a tripartial force be set up among the three of us to assist in keeping the peace in the region and ensure the obedience of all civilians to the law. Note, this is only an offer- we will not interfer if not accepted.

We agree and are alarmed, but we are alarmed because of the failure of the political process in Columbia. We beleive the will of the people will lead to a swift resolution of this conflict, but if it continues to expand or the conflict gets out of hand at a later date, we would join in Peace-Keeping Efforts.

BBC

February 26 2008

Today British Prime Minister Gordon Brown made a official visit to the DPRK. Well there the Prime Minster met with DPRK leader Kim Jong Il to talk about the DPRK internal and foreign policy. The Prime Minster was the first leader to visit DPRK after the six party talks.

"We see the DPRK really trying to get back with dealing with the international community. The United Kingdoms government hopes we can help DPRK open up and be a active player in the world." Gordon Brown

When asked if he discussed DPRK crimes against humanity his response was "no comment"

Political analysis: Well talking to the press he was very cautious on his words used. He has already received criticism on his comments in the past form the DPRK and France and he has only had a short term in office. We really see the United Kingdoms government trying to open up to DPRK and get them talking.

In other news investigations into the bombing of the tunnels are in full swing. We will be reporting more on this when the information comes available.
