SheepNES: The Dragon is Awake: MAIN THREAD

I was thinking that..... As I am on lunch at work at the moment however it wont be for a few mor hours... Probably 8 at the most in all honesty.

Was even writing the update on the train to work this morning, so please dont think I am just sitting there not doing anything...... You guys have just done me proud and made it really exciting...

I have also done a minor re-work on education/stability maintance and upgrading training which will take affect after the update... Stay tuned for the update for details!

Now just to get a few stories

Ha, those trains are always fun to be on...

There is no rush mate, we will read it when you post it!!!

Yeah I know I am sitting on one right now Vanguard, going home along the Cleveland line (that is not in Ohio mind you :p) just went past South Bank.

Nice...

How many millions of people have the State Government in their infinite wisom managed to cram onto it today??

Wait a minute, you said you are sitting....
Jeez, you must be filthy rich to get a seat on a train!!

How I envy you...

From the research I have done into the Transport Systems, both wireless internet (direct from the Internet Provided; i.e. wireless broadband) and they have a free wireless LAN built into the new trains. Some of the older ones are being retro-fitted, I believe, but that may not be the case...

The New Ferries in the CBD area also have free wireless LAN I believe...

Why do you ask???

Bah, its recouped from exorbitant ticket increases and backed up by a state government which couldn't run a fish and chip shop :p

I didn't realize how outrageously decadent the West was.

The ability to access free wireless internet while indulging in that horrible flagship of Western society (the so-called "McDonalds"), or travelling on public transport is the best part of the West.

Much better than the other hallmark of Western society. Whiny upper-middle-class teens who preach socialism in an effort to dodge middle-class guilt.

But I, of course, don't have that problem, because I'm a libertarian. Success!

Oh, and Masada, treat the State Government with respect... my dad's part of the bureaucracy that, by association, "couldn't run a fish and chip shop".

Much better than the other hallmark of Western society. Whiny upper-middle-class teens who preach socialism in an effort to dodge middle-class guilt.

Your missing a few words in that description, Whiny upper-middle class, white, brown loving, pig ignorant, never having led a day of real life, or worked a real day of work, or for that matter done anything but live of the parents who preach socialism and dodge middle-class-white guilt.

Short answer I find their we must do this for the poor brownies racist by implication they assume were to stupid to do things for ourselves. I also love death to the exploitative capitalist system from people who have never worked? Explain how you know anything about the system. I have vastly more respect for salt of the earth Unionist-Labourites now those are guys you can talk to.

I'm a member of the bureaucracy and I know we run the shop, the politicians "manage" it into the ground :p.

Thousands of troops are aligned on both sides as the Christians to the north and the Muslims to the south stare at each other in mutual distrust. The Ottomans have begun also constructing their much vaunted star forts, capable of holding whole regiments at bay with ease. Meanwhile the Hungarians and the Polish have both begun the construction of stone rampants and forts along the border in the more classical European sense of the word. Spotlight - Franco-Spanish War

'Freedom' Rallying cry of the Oranje clan, who has given the Dutch their newly found independence.

The war at the end of 1552 had devolved to a stalemate on two fronts between the somewhat equal forces in the field of the Kings of Spain and France. However during the winter of 1552, there was several diplomatic initiaves to Morroco, Scotland and even Savoy from the Spainish crown. The first two answered the calls to arms, Savoy was rebuffed when its demands for participation grew too much. Morrocco and Scotland both declared war on France in April of 1553, Morroco landing troops in Spain to help the Spainish army against the French in the Pyrnees, the Scots landing on the Chanel coastline of the lower Beligan part of the Netherlands and northern France, causing the French to retreat in areas.

The joining of the war against Scotland also had a profound effect on trade in the North Sea region, with the closure of the English Channel by the Royal Navy of Henry VIII to ensure that it remains secure for England.... Preventing both sides from supplying forces through the Channel at all.

The entry of Morocco on the side of the war also provided the catalyst for the further enlargement of the war. France long had friends in the Most Serene Republic of Venice and those friends, many of which who were in a postion of power came to the party for France in a big way. The combined French and Venitian fleets crushed the Spainish Meditteranean Squadrons, which led to the capitulation of Sardinia to France within several weeks.

Spain had at the same time started moving troops from Naples to southern France to open a third front against the French Kingdom, however the Venitian entry also led to a second Naval battle in the Tyrhenian Sea which saw the destruction of the Spainish Armarda and the loss of many soldiers. This second battle also saw the stranding of the Moroccan army in Spain, which had, just two weeks prior had suffered large casualties when an assault on the Pyrnees forts France had constructed was rebuffed. The Morroccan Sultan however has managed to issue a decree stating the Morroccan army will not take further part on the battle front until he sufficently satisfied that such a loss of life could not occur again.

Meanwhile the Ventian army landed on the western coast of southern Italy and proceeded to occupy the Spainish territory of Naples... It was only until the crossing to Sicily was made that some traction by the remaining Spainish forces was found and althogh they continue to retreat the front currently lies somewhere in the middle of Sicily.

Finally in later 1553 and into 1554 the French begun pulling out of the Spainish Netherlands, however as the Scots and Spainiards remaining began to advance, the Dutch who had long be surpressed answered a call to arms from the Great House of Oranje and the United Kingdoms of the Netherlands was born... Fighting was heavy, several thousand men have lost their lives, and Dutch fatalities far outstrip those of the Scots and the Spainiards, however its a war of attrition that cannot be won by the Spainish King and by the end of 1554 the Spainish were struggling to hold onto several pockets near the Imperial border and the Scots were begining to lose their postions on the continent as well.

(- 12 regiments from Spain, - 4 Spain Guns, - 14 regiments from France, - 3 France Guns, - - 5 Naples regiments, - 8 Venice regiments, - 2 Venice Guns. - 4 Spain squadrons, - 1 France squadron, - 3 Venice squadron, - 10 Spain transports + United Kingdom of the Netherlands gains independence, Spainish Netherlands is now defunct)

RULE CHANGES AS OF THIS TURN

Maintance for education and stability will be abolished.... Too many people are forgetting it... Instead everyone's economy will be adjusted so this is automatic.

It has come to my attention that upgrading training is too tiresome to work.... Thus I am amending the cost of upgrading troops to just double the maintance of the force you wish to upgrade. To upgrade to grizzled (which is the top level) this is increased to three times the maintance of the force you wish to upgrade. You must wait a turn before you can upgrade the same force again, however you can upgrade army and navy on alternate turns.

The cost of upgrading your training if you do not pay maintance will be 3IC and this is the minimum amount that will be charged (eg. if your maintance is only 1IC a turn, you will have to pay 3IC to upgrade training still)

Other ooc:

Ireland, Vjanayapara (sic), and Ayhytthpa are now npc.....

WRITE STORIES SO I HAVE MORE TO SAY THEN 'EXPANDED!'

Several other players did not submit orders this turn, forget next turn and they become npc.... You know who you are!

Phew- I feared that war being a disaster...

Diplomacy:

From France
To Scotland, Morroco

If you wish, we are willing to make white peace with one or both of you unconditionally. This offer will remain open for the whole war.

Stories:

Jacques Martin
Beginning from early in 1532, Jacuqes Martin's metaphorical star was rising- the King of France was, more and more, listening to his ideas. With the rest of the court he was unpopular- he kept to himself, usually only bothering to leave his room in order to advise the King with his latest ideas.

This trend was seen by most of the court, at first, as mystifying. Jacques had been a mere common courtier- the trait which "stood out" most about him was that he stuck to his room as much as possible. How come he was now advising the King? The primary assumption was blackmail- evidence Martin inadvertently dropped pointed only to that conclusion.

Many said that the next logical step was for people to begin searching for this blackmail- this was indeed what would happen. Soon the King became increasingly annoyed at the man (who had failed to even see that courtiers were searching for the information), and one time it was observed he and the King were shouting at each other- surely not a good sign.

On November 28th, 1534, what many had called inevitably finally happened. Jacques Martin had been killed in the night, dead of "disease". The King put his focus to bringing the court to order, which was in time sucessfully done. What information Jacques had known was left a mystery...

OOC: A most excellent update as always.

The Royal navy will continue to block access to the England channel to both sides of this conflict. Any attempt to move supplies, troops or warships through the English channel will be seen as a threat to England and the Royal navy has been instructed to use force to ensure that any threats are repelled.

John Gwneed looked over the azure bay. He was the captain of the Explorers and now the Mayer of the Outer Towns. He had marched to a hill across the Bay and as his lanky frame appeared over the mountain he saw indians. He stuck his flag into the ground and proclaimed,"For the Duchy of Friesland and the Glory of the Holy Roman Emperor!"

The Indians, didn't move, Gwneed moved in with his guards...

They are all dead, taunt skin pronounced a deady plaque of small pox that wiped out a small tribe. To the South a tribe, which had closer contact with Eurasian desises... is growing...
