anybody else anticipating this as much as I am? I am really liking the look of the combat so far. No more do I have to watch people repeatedly stabbed and not killed, while taking no defensive action what soever. Now I get to see them parry and die when they are stabbed.

I suppose however, that a realistic portrayal of the Shinobi would be to much to ask.

CA broke my heart with E:TW and it's not getting fixed unless I hear, two weeks after STW2 is out, and not from professional review sites, that the AI is bearable.

I'm anticipating it, but I'm not going to be buying it until I hear the general verdict of the fans (I don't trust the major review sites after civ5).

The videos do not look promising. The AI appears to have literally let the Human player's cavalry just casually stroll behind them without even so much as a passing volley.

Owen Glyndwr is not pleased.

Well ve shall see after release wether or not it will be worth buying. If it is not then Lord Vader will not be pleased!

OK, how can you even consider not to buy it?
It's going to be like strategy game of the year!
No matter how it'll turn out, can't be worse than previous versions.
LOL... I'm going to pre-order it with what-ever is available!
Hope there will be some sort of an Exclusive Edition of it.
Just like there was for Civilization V, nice big black box and all.

That's almost verbatim what I said about Empire: Total War. Cue inexplicable frustration after weeks of trying to convince myself that the game was good, followed by "well the core is fine, we just need some patches," followed by depression, followed by seething rage when N:TW was announced.

It will be great from the nostalgic point of view, but if recent releases tell us anything about new games, dont hold your breath.
Been a great 10-15 yrs of gaming, playing shogun at the start and seeing every new release give you better game play and graphics, now they just improve graphics. These video games were new to us at the start, now they are the same old thing just better graphics which need a new comp every 3 yrs to keep up. I find myself in these forums more than I do playing the games these days!?!?!?

I think they get stuck into a routine of taking the safest path of simplifying the existing functions whilst adding new features that have limited benefit. It doesn't help that people still buy the games regardless due to inevitable positive reviews and the hope that those people that are criticising the game might be exagerating.

And there's AoE III

Good enough for government work.

Anticipating it: yes.
Buying it: maybe.

As many have already said E:TW was a huge letdown, and I'm hoping this will be way better.

wut about that king arthur game in terms of similar gameplay.
