I already founded Hinduism, and Persian, China, Mongolia, Arabia, and soon, Germany, are all Hindu governments. Along with me (India). Should I found Confucianism too? Or should I let someone else get that religion?

update: Someone else discovered Confucianism, but I need to know, is tehre a benefit to founding 2 religions anyway? Since, if it spreads to other countries, it may make them adopt it as the main religion and stray from the "close ties" it has to you by sharing the same religion.

I found as many as I can, especially if I am going for a cultural win or playing non-agressively. Although, if you ARE playing aggressively, the increased culture will help your defenses in the event that you are attacked. It's also good to grab all the religions possible just so that others don't found them and adopt them permanentaly and hate you for it. They may adopt a religion that you found (that is different from your state religion) but then you can just use missionaries to convert them over to your side for good (or you can bribe them :D ).

Also, if you have more than one religion and build that religion's buildings, you increase your cities' happiness. And by spreading your religion(s) you get increases in commerce (I think).

Its not too late for me to rush for Islam or Christianity. I have one Great Prophet who is sleeping since I dont have much to do with him. Guess Ill try to rush for Christianity. Stupid GERMANY invented Confucianism, and the road I built from Japan ---> Europe got his Confucianism spread to my city in Vietnam! WTH??

Yes, if you want to dominate religiously it's very helpful to found other religions too (just don't spread them to the civs you want to be religious friends with, only spread your state religion). Main reason is that the AI will switch to a religion it founds the vast majority of the time, and after that it's not long until they won't be very friendly.
