@Blackhole - I explained why I made it private, although I see good reasons for public too.

At this stage, it will be peace.

Maybe next TC we will have another poll. Although this raises a question in my mind. We've already had 2 polls on this and both of those polls called for war, this one calls for peace. So is it the WOTP or did we just not have enough time for everyone to vote?

"This is deliberately private poll as it appears to be a very contentious issue."
What issues are heavily fought over?

Judging from the way Epi attack the constitutionality, intelligence, and validity of these polls in the operation Squirooi thread (did I spell that right?), I would say there is an attitude of hostility when it comes to peace.

QUOTE]There are citizens lives at stake, both at home and in Iroquois Nation. Are we just going to default to the next conquest once one is complete? Since we know how to manipulate the game to prevent a war on all fronts (which is what our remaining neighbors would realistically do if faced with our bloodthirsty landgrab), our cowardly elimination of one civ at a time will take any risk (and fun) out of the game.[/QUOTE]

The lives at stake in the south are military thats what these people are trained to do. In the north theres some threat to the northen civilians. But not nearly as much as if we allow the iroqious to sneak attack us again. This is a country that already has troops in our territory. and has shown before that they have no problem attacking us.

I like to bulid in my games to and i think diplomatic victory is a great idea, But theres nothing wrong with taking over neighbours to gain defendable borders, thats why i voted for the war and and i would of vote for war against babalon. This will not stop a diplomatic victory, infact if we signed a military alliance with Zulu and France it might make diplomatic easier.

But peace has been made and its proberly better. If it was my game i wouldnt of bulit up a bigger army for the attack anyway. Dose this mean war war to the south will never be brought up again ?

Well, this poll hasn't even been open for 24 hours yet. By the next turn chat this very poll could be indicating that we should declare war.

I checked and at least a few people that voted for war in the last public poll have not been online in the last 24 hours.

Question for the peace-mongers: Will you accept this poll as an indication for the WOTP (unlike the last 2 polls, including one that didn't have a large number of options) or should we start a new poll now?

I can see in the ratios that it is a 1/1 split between the Pacificst and the Warmongers (Though this poll is not accurate since there is the Abstain factor)

Pacificst and the Warmongers
It isnt that black and white, i like peace but i like to control a big area first. After iroqious and babalon i would never want war again (unless someone attacks our vital intrests)

NO WAR!
For now atleast...

Also Civman, might i suggest this poll should have been public, this is not dealing with people, so its not gonna hurt anyones feelings depending on what u vote....

Had it been public, the vote would have been tied... This allowed me to speak my mind on the issue and still maintain the privacy and freedom from pressure I demand.

It is almost tied now... So what's your point Ravensfire?
Read my message.

I voice my opinions whether the poll is public or private, I don't feel any pressure from or to anyone.

You're not making sense here ravensfire. I say this assuming you voted for no war. The point is your remark purportedly indicates the way you voted. If you're going to post how you voted then what's the problem voting in a public poll?

Or is it that we're not supposed to read anything into your comment regarding how you voted?

Nope - because it was a private poll, I did vote my preference. I then made a choice to reveal what I voted.

On a public poll, I have, and will continue to vote abstain in protest in violation of my right to anonymous speech. The continued fear of "unregistered voters" that keeps being brought up HAS NEVER BEEN PROVEN. On ONE election the results where challenged and a SINGLE vote was disqualified as a DL. No further research was stated to have been done.

Incidently, the amount of work it would take to skew an election is quite simple. Many public libraries have terminals for public use. Use those to create accounts, register as citizens and vote. Use multiple libraries and other public terminals. Instant vote fraud and virtually untraceable. Get called on it - why you have friends that vote for you because you asked them!

We require two things for citizenship - an account at CFC (kinda required to post!) and register in the Citizen Registry thread. That's it. No participation requirement, and I truly hope it stays that way to allow lurkers. How often do we monitor the votes? Rarely, if ever. Public polls prevent fraud - yeah, right.

Actually wasn't there a vote scandal on the first or second term of this DG for war minister?

I believe that any Civ that has been against us should be made to pay for their treachery. That is why I want war against Babs and Iroq. Any other nation that is foolish enough to attack us should suffer the same fate. We have only declared war on one nation, the other two have declared war on us.

Given all this talk about voter fraud, I would like to ask that a Moderator provide a list of everyone who voted on this poll (but not who voted for what).

Anyone who is concerned about fraud can then take the time to check the list of voters against the citizen registry.

A few interesting stats (ignoring abstains for the time being):
1. 14 people voted for war in this poll vs a max of 14 in previous polls - 0 % increase.
2. 17 people voted for 'No war' in this poll vs a max of 12 in previous polls - 42% increase

My personal opinion on these results:
Either we have had some major voter fraud or we have come very close to proving Ravensfire's point about public polls. I seriously doubt that there was any voter fraud.

Note to anyone left who has not voted in this poll - vote now!
We can see if the large increase in 'no war' was a statistical fluke or maybe 'war' will actually win this poll before Sunday's turnchat.
