Significance of the day of birth

Well, that's a good start.

Now, can you give me a list of all this "everyone else"?

And if you can get to five names, I'll send you £1. That's one british pound!!!!!

Probably worthless in Australia. But there you go.

I guess the most significant effect of date of birth is on education. The UK academic year runs from Sept to August. So those born in Sept have ~a year's head start on those born in August.
This is important and significant when you're under 10, and the effects last until when?

You'll get put into higher sets at school and treated a lot better by teachers (cos you're "smarter" than the rest). It lasts a looooong time. It's even more pronounced in sports, as the September boys are physically more developed than the August boys, so do better at sports => trainers assume they're better players => more training/attention => more likely to end up in professional clubs. Malcolm Gladwell did a whole thing on this in his book, Outliers.

Gladwell is awesome.

Birth and school suck...sure I never had to worry about missing my birthday...born in the summer, but I was forced to start school at age six...and that has lasting effects...

hell even in fifth grade my teachers said I was gifted...it pisses me off cuz if I started school at 4 I might have done something with my life..

I do know it is now illegal to keep your kids from going to school later then 5...which is kinda cool...cuz like you under 10 it makes a huge difference....

no one likes being the "oldest"...unless they get to smoke ro drink of course....

My birthday marked the beginning of the 1837 Lower Canada Rebellion.
