I was hoping on filling it with diverse cities and natural areas. But as some cities started growing so large they took so long to load and playing them became difficult. Maybe if I get tired of Civ (which I doubt will be any time soon with the release of BTS in the near future) I might go back to SC4 :)

I have a lot of stuff downloaded off of simtropolis.com, so you might in a way consider it cheating to have buildings with larger capacities and stuff.. but when you reach a certain size it's impossible to provide proper coverage with original buildings. I did not use actual cheat codes though, or demand increasing mod or other things like that which are 100% cheating. The majority of my stuff is mostly for better looks/more diversity.

Awesome cities guys. I just got this game and week ago and love it! I'll post some screenshots when I get the chance. So far my region has 4 cities with a population of only 60k or so.

I got the newest NAM but are there any other 'must haves' or highly recommended mods/add-ins you'd suggest? Im totally lost when it comes to that stuff.

Ofuh, how much time did that take you? It looks very impressive.

Hmm, honestly I can't give an accurate answer.

When I last seriously played was in fall 2006 so before December.
But, a rough guess would be ~4 weeks? I honestly have no idea. I know it was not a very long time though. I did play a lot every day, hours and hours would pass by :). Sometimes I would just get on the computer and sim city the whole damn day. No internet, no other games, no chatting, nothing. ;)

Flotsam-
Good luck with your city. Let us keep track of your progress with screenshots :p
As far as I can remember, there aren't really any "must have" mods other than nam. The more you play and the more mods you will want.

For some reason I'm starting to want to play again. Time for bed now. I will play a bit tomorrow and post progresss screenshots :D

Are all of those Simcity 4 or 3?

And how dare nobody post any Simcity 2000 cities!!!

EDIT: I see Ofuh's are Simcity 4

Redemption is my city, built without cheats in SC3K Unlimited. :)

sim city 2000 was by far the best game

i had a city which hit 3,000,000 on sc2 which was quite good since the area you used wasnt that big

I have a city that nears 750K people, which is great considering it is the only city in the region. Will post a pic once my other computer is fixed.

you're so lucky that you can have skyscrapers. Every time, i make money by building residential lots, so i get taxes, i also have bigger business areas in my cities, and some industrial, but every time i try skyscrapers, the demand is low, or there aren't enough business or industrial jobs:cry:

i never really managed to make money in sim city 4, i did in 3 but i do better at the second one

If your economy can support it, lower the taxes for Business and watch your businesses grow. Eventually you will be unable to provide adequate housing to your people and thus, skyscrapers are born. But make sure you zone high density or else skyscrapers will never show up.

I always lower taxes, I get 50K and spend around 40K a month. So my taxes are always dropping every year. Right now my taxes are on average:
Residential
Low: 4
Medium: 4
High: 4.5
Commerce
Low: 4
Medium: 3.5
High: 3
Industry
Low: 3
Medium: 7 ( I hate the dirty polluting building)
High: 5

i have tried that, but what are the highest taxlevel you can have to let skyscrapers being born. and by the way, i don't have enogugh commercal jobs, so it have to be residential i use. The only one i am lucky with is industrial. i have 3 hig tech industries.

and sure i know it depends on every city, but the're periods where my residential demand reach the sky, but after i've tried high zoning, it just reaches below 0.

When you zone higher density, and the level drops to zero, it generally (not always) means that you are not providing the services your people need, like....
Police
Fire
Hospitals
Schools (this is a tricky one.... most higher density zones require high schools and elementary schools)
libraries, musuems and zoos.
parks
and better transportation. (Buses, trains etc.)

And dont forget to upgrade your water system, when your city grows your water drops, and you will need to add new pipes and pumps to provide adequate water to you population, or people will never move in.

i have all of that, but i think i have to wait until the demand is higher (as i said the demand swings from good to bad and back t good again in my city) but if i need skyscrapers, i should try it with residential. I can post a picture of it, wait two seconds

edit: actually i have transportation problems, and i have tried to upgrade my roads, and try to solve the problem, but can find it (or them) so thats what have benn nagging my demand bar. thx Germanicus:goodjob:

second edit: here's my city, Sallelion

city.jpg

it has MAJOR traffic problems that is going to be solved

I find that city impressive tailless. I wish I could make cities like that. If mine get too big, I get traffic problems.
I go for a standard 4x4 grid or was it 5x5 now?
I tried avenues, still not fixed...
I tried putting residential on one side of the map, commercial and industrial the other... still not fixed.
Money is a problem, so I resort to cheats, but what I'm trying to do is make an awesome city that's huge, does not take up the whole map and it'll be called... Huge City!
Yes, I'm trying to work on Great Region to be awesome, but I can't make Huge City very well and I think Farmerston is too close to the city and the docks are not designed right in my opinion
I would post screenies of my cities, but that means loading up the game.
