Simple questions, simple answers

So this thread is to help people get used to BWN, ask anything, post useful info you have, etc.

Like, I found out that City States now have a "Tribute Meter" of sorts, letting you know how close you are to being able to demand tribute, which is very useful

One thing I noticed (isn't game changing) but wow the lighting and shadows in the new leader screens are fantastic compared to the originally released civs, especially Dondalo's!

Also, if you plan on winning the world games, please put every city on it AND focus each city on production, I forgot to specialize each city in production until the second turn and ended up losing top contributor to Morocoo by 6 frickin production points grrrr

Venice just offered me a Research Agreement when I was still 8 turns away from getting Education. Is this some old mechanic that I am not aware of, or did they change it so that only one civ needs to have Education for RA signing?

So are all mac users getting Iron at iron working instead of bronze working? Can't imagine why that'd be. Is that a bug or did something go wrong?

I have a question about the internet tec. Does it double the overall tourism outcome with all modifier or it just doubles your base outcome i.e. being +100% modifier?

First of all, a belated "Thank you" to the people who answered my previous question about the changes in the beliefs :) !

Here come my next questions:
1. When a city flip-flops to your side, do you get the usual dialogue (Raize/Puppet/Annex)?

2. Can there be a trade route between A and B AND B and A at the same time?

3. If I pillage a trade route out of the sight of its owner (for example, somebody decided they could have a trade route through my territory without asking me!), will they know and will it still result in a diplomatic hit/war? In other words, if somebody pillages somebody's trade route, will the owner always know who is the culprit?

Thanks in advance!

that's an old mechanic. only one of the research partners needs Education. similar to open borders at Civil Service: once you reach it, you can trade them with all civs, no matter which tech path they chose.

For Morocco's special achieve, you need to conquer Lisbon, build airports in Lisbon and Casablanca, then airlift a settler or worker from directly inside Casablanca to Directly inside Lisbon, not beside them, INSIDE

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. Yes

On the delegates from world wonders, this isn't to do with wonder count. A wonder can specifically grant delegates (I think only one does - Forbidden Palace)

I've heard this is a deliberate change rather than a bug (affecting PC as well): the idea is that you'll know where the iron is before researching Iron Working. I can imagine it'd be pretty nice to have that information earlier so you can factor it into settling locations.

The post you quoted says "at iron working instead of bronze working". Not "at bronze working instead of iron working". I'm pretty convinced that's what the question was about - why their Mac version hadn't had the change implemented.

You're absolutely right. My bad.

I have a question about the internet tec. Does it double the overall tourism outcome with all modifier or it just doubles your base outcome i.e. being +100% modifier?

It looks like it doubles your base outcome. I just ran a test case, and my tourism output went from ~950 to ~1400 after the internet finished. I had a bunch of other percentage-based modifiers (National Visitor's Center, Media Culture), so my guess is that it just piles another 100% onto whatever your current multiplier is.

Edit: Confirmation. The next turn, I scored first place at the International Games, and the 100% tourism boost brought my total to ~1900. It looks like my "base" culture was around 500 or so, and the multipliers each lumped another 500 on.

yeah that would be my second thought :D
first would be: could be unlock when you adapt some sort of SP or something new that we don't know.

I have yet to see the M&B actually show up ingame. Looks like it was just a decoration, sorry.

Simple question: what is the length limit on a trade route?

I've had a go at the demo and had some trouble because I can't find the answer to this.

Simple question: what is the length limit on a trade route?

I've had a go at the demo and had some trouble because I can't find the answer to this.

It depends on what buildings the origin city has (caravansary, harbor) and the level of technology you've researched (some techs, like refrigeration and combustion, extend the length of trade routes). If you build a trade unit and try to assign it a trade route, the exact range will be displayed in the pop-up menu, near the top-left side just above the list of potential trade routes. Roads can be used to extend the reach of land trade routes, but I'm not sure if they count as "free" tiles or just reduce the effective distance traveled.

Thanks for the answer. I know about the effects that increase the length, I am interested in the base one.

The problem is that the game doesn't let you build a trade unit if your city has nothing in range... So you can't open that window to know what the range is. It feels quite clumsy.

Does anyone know the base number?

Yes instantly, it is a special screen you click in the top right then click the top left option in the pop up. Then you can mouse over and see the theming bonus for whatever storage receptical you have. I move around my Great Works all the time, not to avoid capture but to try and get bonus points. You can also trade easily, sometimes the AI initiates these trades, I don't know how and why it works but it does.

Please explain how the theming bonus system works. I have a +6 bonus in one of my wonders and it was through dumb luck. What do you look for in trying to maximize the tourism impact of a particular building?

It depends on the building. If you put your cursor on the "+0" of a building that doesn't have its bonus, a tooltip will tell you exactly what you need to make it click. For instance, the Globe Theater's tooltip wants it to be stocked with all works from the same era and the same civilization. The Louvre, on the other hand, wants 2 pieces of art, 2 artifacts, and none of them can be from the same era or civilization.

Ah, right. Starting range is 10 tiles for caravans, and 20 tiles for cargo ships. Hope that helps.
