Breaking News: European Union Invades Hungary!
Most people with half a brain saw it coming. After Hungarys unprovoked invasion of Romania and the begging of the Austrian people to Germany for liberation it was more or less inevitable. Large armies massed and prepared for war.

The Italians, French, Belgians, Germans, and Yugoslavians all contributed forces to what would become the largest clash of armies in Europe since the Two Years War. German troops by far made up the largest portion of allied forces.
Meanwhile our reporters went to Hungary and noted preprations for war going on there. Armies had been mobilized and able-bodied men were being drafted to fight.
(+5 Volunteer divisions, +10 Conscript divisions)
The invasion began shortly after New Years day. German armies invaded Austria driving deep into Hungarian lines. The much larger German army rapidly overwhelmed Hungarian forces. The Hungarians sent up their air force and briefly contested the skies over Austria the fighting was short and sharp but in the end the Hungarians were forced to withdraw

As the Germans advanced into Eastern Austria they ran into Hungarian traps and defensive positions. The Hungarians fought hard for every inch of land making the Germans pay for it in blood. When the Hungarians were forced to retreat they used scorched earth tactics looting whatever they could take and destroying everything else. However German airpower was very successful and took out many Hungarian tanks caught in the open. Flaming wreckage littered the roadsides giving it the name the Highway of Death
(-9 Hungarian Infantry divisions, -5 Hungarian Tank divisions, -12 German Infantry divisions)
Our reporters on the frontline noticed surviving Austrian citizens welcome German troops as liberators and aided them wherever possible giving them food and supplies as well as useful information of Hungarian troop movements.
As the Germans neared the Hungarian border they were subjected to massive human wave attacks. In the words of one German soldier we interviewed.
The very hills came alive, thousands upon thousands of conscripts armed with whatever makeshift weaponry they could lay their hands on charged us. We hunkered down and began shredding them with machine gun fire. Our planes blasted holes in their lines. Yet they kept coming unyielding, unending, bodies piled up until we couldnt even see the ground anymore. The once green grass was red with blood and yet the attacks continued. I lost track of how long we were fighting it must have been hours we just kept on firing and firing until they stopped coming. Every single one of them died their bodies littered the countryside as far as the eye could see.
(-10 Hungarian Conscript divisions, -4 German Infantry divisions)
That was the last battle fought for Austria. In the south Italy quickly took he undefended port city of Treastise which it had long claimed as its own.
