SkizzNES

sorry what do you mean by Carolingia Nations list will be up soon then you create template

The Frankish Empire- the ruling dynasty were the Carolingians.

Oh Empire of Charles the Great

Not to be a spoilsport, but when Charles the Great died (which is the start point of this NES), the Frankish Kingdom was divided in three parts. I don't know which parts, exactly, but I know that much.

EDIT: question for skizzik: where is Asturias, exactly? I'm still trying to find them!

:nono::cringe::thumbsdown::faint::cry:

Damn. You have just commited the biggest historical murder of a nation that I have ever known!

If you are calling the yellow south in the Iberian peninsula "Hispania", please, please, please, read some history before you actually use incorrect names for a country!

Small history lesson: Hispania is the name given to the Iberian Peninsula by the Romans, then by the Visigoths, who held the Kingdom of Hispania for 3-4 centuries approximately (the hated Goth Kings list, which fortunately I never had to study) until the Moors came and won in the Guadalete River battle against Don Rodrigo in 711. The moors first defeat in Iberian territory was in Covadonga in what would become the Kingdom of Asturias. So far its good.

The main problem was that the Moors would have never used the word "Hispania" to refer to the Iberian Peninsula. At most, they would have use "al-Andalus", which is the word from where Andalusia comes. Other correct forms would have been "Caliphate of Córdoba", as its capital was Córdoba itself, or "Umayyad Caliphate" for the family of rulers that held the Caliph throne. But never Hispania.

Please, change the stats so that the names are corrected.

Wait, so has anyone taken the Umayyads yet? I'd like to take them if no one else has, although I strongly suspect that they have already been taken.

the Umayyads are not on the list, who do you mean?

Have a look and see wether you still disagree.

I'm taking them, but only so that I can make skizzik change the name to any of the correct forms. Disregard the template I sent before, it's now obsolete as the map didn't appear until after I sent that.

Umayyad Caliphate: Milarqui
Capital: Corduba
Ruler: Al-Hakam I

EDIT: that map doesn't say "Hispania" at any place. I understand now the "Kingdom of Asturias", but Hispania has still to be changed.

ok sorry about that, ill put in your new template

Backstory for the Umayyad Caliphate:
After the Bereber troops managed to defeat King Rodrigo's troops in the Battle of Guadalete in the year 92 after the Hijra, the land that would be later known as "al-Andalus" was conquered in very few years, as many of the people - especially the People of the Book (Jewish) - had been oppresed by King Rodrigo and all of his antecessors in the kingship. The first defeat they suffered in Hispanic lands was in what was called by the Christians "Covadonga" in the year 104 AH, ensuring the existence of a Christian country in the north of the Peninsula. Also, other defeat was dealt in the Battle of Tours in 114 AH. During the next years, the Emirate of Córdoba dealt with the Frankish kingdom and the Kingdom of Asturias, who had managed to get control of nearly all the north of the Peninsula.

In the year 139 AH, the Emir Abd-ar-Rahman I arrived to Cordoba after running away from the Abbasids that had killed all of his family save him. He would hold onto the Emirate, which was made independent from the Abbasid Caliphate politically, but not nominally, as the Caliph was still a very important person in the religious aspect.

For years, the Emirate of Córdoba fought against the two Christian kingdoms of the north, winning as much as losing in many battles that were fought.

But now, with the rising of the star of Al-Hakam I and his son Abd-ar-Rahman II, the cause of Islam will finally shine upon all of al-Andalus, and perhaps the world!
