SKNES: Architecture of Aggression

Indeed, all my updates fail in comparison to those of anyone else. And so does all my stories throughout all time. Even posts you claim to be smothered in awesomesause are also smothered in failsauce. Oh Amon, everything I do is worthless.

@ Brythonia

It seems that while you attack all Christiandom, you defend only yourself. Very well, I accept this new front of operations.

Until the year of the Holy Roman Empire, there are no recorded aggression between Celtic and Forn Sithr peoples in Brythonia. At all. There are tensions but NO RECORDED AGGRESSION AT ALL.

The ever-increasingly tense religious situation in Brythonia finally erupted into violence when one of its kings, Uchel Brenin Arnallt, converted to Forn Siðr at the behest of a party of Skalds from Jutland.
If you read blandly the Skalds are those who convert others to Forn Sithr. However, if you look at the history of Skald conversion, from the irradication of Catholics from Jutland to the massacre of Gallic Animists in Aquitaine, they are nothing but brutal torturous brainwashers. They incited the aggression by taking one of the Kings in the Confederation and, at their behest:
be·hest/biˈhest/
Noun:
A person's orders or command:
They COMMANDED Uchel Brenin Arnallt to convert. They have NO authority to do so, but they COMMANDED him to convert despite the tension that exists.
Naturally, the other kings did not take this lightly, and civil war broke out.
If an Orthodox Priest COMMANDED a Baron of Bearn to convert to the Orthodoxy, I would not take this lighty either. And I WILL see this as an aggressive act by the Orthodoxy and fight to restore rule of Catholics BECAUSE I, soveriegn of Aquitaine, should be the supreme arbiter of command in Aquitaine. I would accept conversion, but not COMMANDED conversion.
The Catholics, desperately holding on to a small slip of land in north Wales, were kicked completely out of Brythonia. Many fled into neighboring Catavalu, watching Brythonia with a wary eye.
They were kicked out, which by connotation assumes they were defending themselves against aggression, and were attacked until they are all gone.
Despite early setbacks, the Forn Siðr armies under Arnallt rapidly expanded to place first all of Wales, then slowly Scotland, under their control. The Celto-Coptic kings were rapidly subjugated.
Uchel Brenin Arnallt, who has been commanded and cooerced into Forn Sithr, now Subjugated those who tried to maintain their independence form the command of outsiders.
sub·ju·gate/ˈsəbjəˌgāt/
Verb:
Bring under domination or control, esp. by conquest.
Therefore, he, under the command of Forn Sithr Skalds, took over a nation which rightfully protests this outside influence. If he CONVERTED to Forn Sithr by himself or even AIDED by Skalds, they might have not minded. But he was COMMANDED to Convert, showing that Forn Sithr has authority over their confederacy.
A number of Celtic traditionalist kings managed to hold out, using hit-and-run tactics and clinging to some fortresses, but in less than a year, it was all over. Arnallt had himself crowned sole King of Brythonia.
hit-and-run tactics and clinging to fortresses are classical defenses against an overwhelming aggressor. And this Aggression, if you remember, are triggered by Arnallt, first Forn Sithr King of Brythonia and who can be COMMANDEd by Skalds.
And now, he has turned a confederation of Kings into a single Kingdom.

To summarize. Arnallt was COMMANDED to convert. Seeing their soverigny threatened the other Brythonian Kings tried to reverse this. The Catholics tried defending themselves but were kicked out by the Aggressive Arnallt. The Celtics tried defending themselves in castles but they were kicked out by the Aggressive Arnallt. His aggression turned a confederacy into a single Kingdom.

Terrence... this is the early middle ages. That kind of stuff happened on EVERY side. Souldn't bring modern sensibilities to a setting so different.

Might is Right is the order of the day, really.

OOC: You're the one who said that the Scots shouldn't listen to us due to us being aggressive. You technically started it.

I never originally said that. I said that their best option is to join the locals and unite out island.

Can we all please stop spam posting. It's great for post count, but dreadfully annoying to those of us who are actually trying to follow this NES.

What you christians do not understand is that people can think differently. My version of Forn Sithr could be very different from their version. You clump us together out of pure spite. Brythonia is an independent nation that makes it's own situations and has it's own diplomacy. I will not have inbred christians cutting into my negotiations. Your aggressive behavior would be like the Empire of Midgard cutting into negotiations between Byzantium and Armenia.

It's about time you realised this. Uninstall life. Nao.

The Holy Legion

Nothing is more terrible to the enemies of Holy Rome then the appearance of an Holy Legion. Composed by pairing the Visigothic Legion and the Catholic Knight, each formidable in their own right, the Holy Legion is perhaps one of the most versatile, hard hitting, and effective combinations out there.

The Visigothic Legion as all should know (if the UU page is updated) excels in outfighting and outlasting the enemy in close combat. Borrowing the tactics and training of the Roman Legion but updating it with the newest fransica throwing axes and spiked axes, armored with reinforced tower-shields and the newest steel mail, they are a terror to behold for as a walking Arsenal itself. In addition to, they are trained in a mixture of Roman and Germanic styles, allowing them to quickly implement formations and tactics across the battlefield while maintaining ferocity in close combat. A terror even against charging horsemen and defending archers, the Visigothic Legion is the anvil of the Holy Legions.

The Catholic Knights are also terrible foes indeed. Welding the heavy armor of the Eastern Cataphract with the honor of the Chivalrous Knight, on massive armored horses warriors in their own right, the thunder of a charge of the Catholic Knight is one which will set many-a-boot a quaking. Supremely loyal to the mission of Christ and trained for many years until their induction into this order, Catholic Knights also fight well on foot and they train with many weapons, from the lance and broadsword to the crossbow and scimitar. The Hammer of the Holy Legions, they often take out the first four ranks of an infantry line before actively using their weapons to tear apart the survivors.

The Holy Legions are trained together and work as the core of various Crusading armies in this time, being supported by Swordsmen, Archers and others to fill out the line while the Holy Legion rips apart a section of the enemy line. They use many tactics such as [REMOVED] and [REMOVED], but are best known for [REMOVED]. Their endurance can best be seen in the first year of the Wars against Holy Rome, when 5 Visigothic Legions fought in Aquitaine and Frankland from places such as Provence, Bordeaux, Orleans, Paris and Rome. And not a single one was destroyed.

Since a few very important players still have not sent orders, even though I'm starting the update, it's not getting finished today.
