Skype not working

I've been peer-pressured into installing skype, and it's stuck on the account creation page saying "checking your skype name is available", and the skype icon in the task bar says "not connected"

I'm running 32 bit windows vista

No. I've decided to give up and do better to resist any future peer pressure.

You might as well wait for that. Some are already calling it a "Skype Killer" Should add it to the freeware sticky once it's released.

Hmm. I guess its the same way Gmail was when it first came out.
My ignorance is showing. I only recently heard of it, and it says it's only available by invite. My bad.

So would you say it's better or worse than skype, how does it compare?

I dont use it much, and I dont use skype at all, so I can't compare the two.
