Small Observations General Thread (things not worth separate threads)

From UrsaRyan’s latest video at 10:20, and confirmed in the comments:

  • Leader Attributes determine which Endeavors are available for proposal, they are not just for narrative events

In this case Napoleon, who is militaristic, was able to propose Military Aid with Confucius. Really like this!

I like that they brought back the Diplomatic Agreements from Rising Tides into Civ 7, I always liked that system.

Another tidbit: we finally see the Exploration Cultural Golden Age in Boes’ latest

Good question! I’ll ask.

Same, although I wasn’t crazy about BE’s specific implementation of it, this seems much better!

Part of it is the small sizes of maps.

But I think some is because they have balanced all the terrain types and standardized the adjacency bonuses. Everything is so balanced that it doesn't really matter what terrain you have (with obvious Civ preference exceptions).

I know they wanted to eliminate lots of rerolls/restarts before playing a game . . . but the reason players were rerolling was because they were trying to get unusual start positions. They have eliminated the need to reroll . . . because any start is just kind of the same as the next one.
Quote to emphasise.

Actually, I made this observation back in Civ6 (and posted about it here on Civfanatics).
My analysis then was that in order to make the game more multiplayer friendly, they had equalised the starting positions.
Now they have continued this trend to reduce re-rolling.

The big problem is that when everything is equally useful, nothing stands out.
As a result, the player feels less frustrated, but there is also no longer the euphoria of finding the optimal settling spot and rushing towards it to be the first to settle a city.
On the other hand, there may be enough natural wonders scattered around the map to break up the samyness.

Notice the Staats Eisenbahn Improvement. State Railway. Prussia or city-state?

It says City-State Unique, and references religion--I wouldn't expect Prussia to be religious.
I'm referring to the Staats Eisenbahn listed among the improvements on the left hand side

State Railway is a Siamese tradition, so if they're avoiding two different things having the exact same name, they could have picked one to have a localized name. I don't think this is the reason though
I mean the name is clearly in German, which would most likely make it a unique compared to other improvements such as mine, farm, monastery etc. which is in English.

It's probably a Prussian unique improvement. Also note that Emporium and Company Post are two different improvements seen with economic focused city states, likely one is Antiquity and one Exploration.

They are both exploration city-state improvements. It's curious that this railway is being shown in Exploration

Isn't that just a list of all improvements in the game? It also shows the Baray, Hawlit, and Great Wall which are in Antiquity.

You'd think the Bang and Obstchina would be on there too
