SNEAK PEAK: Interstellar Colonization AND cIVRPG

A couple thoughts I had that you may have already had as well:
Are you using the tech tree? It would be pretty cool to use it as a skill tree for your hero.

Using events you could set up interactive dialogue. Stupid off-the-cuff example:
Triggered by moving units on the city. Success gives ability to use city services or get quests or whatever you have.
"Gate Guard: Who goes there?"
-"I come with permission of the Queen!" (Only selectable if the player has been to city X, sure success)
-"I am an ambassador from the Elohim!" (20% chance for success, 60% chance with bluff skill. not selectable if you fail)
-"I'm a traveller seeking shelter!" (leads to another event where the guard questions you further, allowing access if you answer some world related question correctly)
etc.

I have some ideas for the tech tree, and we will probably use it in multiple ways.
  1. As checkpoints. Give this tech to the player when he finishes a certain quest for instance. Or when he enters a certain area of the map. Some invisible, some appears on the tree.
  2. To change music by changing the era, but I bet this is possible without using techs.
Et cetera. Nothing really decided yet on this however.

And yeah, the story mode of the mod will involve dialogues when appropriate.

Grey Fox said a couple months ago in the chat that the sci-fi mod is stopped compleatly, but maybe someday he will continue on the RPG mod. But now no one has seen him for some time.

Ok, an update for all the followers of this thread.

I've been working diligently on a new mod of mine, but none of the mods in this topic. But at the same time you could say I have made progress towards one of the mods in this thread cause I intend to use this mod as the base for cIVRPG once it's done since the two mods will use many of the same features.

My new mod is Advance Wars for Civ4. I will probably not call it Advance Wars when I release it but that is the project name for now.

I am pretty close to making a stable MP version of the game. I am constantly working on the AI but I am not an expert so they will always be lacking.

Here are some screenshots for ya'll!

Which one? Interstellar Colonization has been canceled (I might make an upgrade for Final Frontier with some stuff I'd like to see however, in the future), and cIVRPG I am going to start working on once my Advance Wars mod is complete.

I'm currently working on three smaller mods for FfH, an interface upgrade modcomp, a Broader Alignments modcomp (turns the 3 alignments into a value between -511 to +511) and a bit bigger modmod which I am calling Commanding Officers for now. Basically it gives the player a 2nd leader with unique militaristic traits that can gain strategic and tactical experience, and level it's 4 possible traits 3 levels each.

Once I got a playable version of commanding officers out there, I will continue on Advance Wars (which is in it's later stages of developement). Once Advance Wars is complete I will use it for the base prototype of cIVRPG. While I also start working on its design document.

For cIVRPG I have 3 team members, but it can be hard to work with them if I don't get a connection at home by then. And I'm not sure how much 2 of the members are going to be able to help by then.

Eventually, once cIVRPG is complete (or at least released and only content/bugfix patches are left to do. Actually will probably release some story chapters if everything goes smoothly), I want to start working on an RTS influenced mod Idea I've had for a while, sci-fi, and set on earth in a distant future.
