You do not need troops to expand, if you havent noticed your the only people group on the indian sub continent >.< Look at the tech tree, all you need is settlement to expand.

I think this NES will be primarily open ended for the players. You guys are limited by the technologies, and units, presented by the tech tree... but you are very free to write as you are inspired, just make sure you don't say your civilization has swords, if you haven't researched it >.<
 
All these early techs seem a bit pointless, but i hope you allow us to go off on very different trees aventually?

What do you mean? Future trees are pretty much open ended right now, I havent finalized anything yet. So throw me your ideas.
 
Maybe have 'Project Techs' that need gold.

Also, Scouting doesn't have to be so far away, does it?

you'll be to scouting in no time ;) I put it over there so that you establish your first city or two ignorant of your surroundings. There are plenty of cities to be placed to be used with scouting ;)

Project techs? What exactly do you mean by that, what came to my head when I read that was a pretty good idea.

Well, how do we control how many tech points we have?

Why isn't our gold growing?

Unless we can choose paths, whats the point in techs? Noones ever going to be much different from another nation.. So far all I can see is Egypt is going to get a massive boost from irrigation, other than that everyone is the same

Project Techs are techs that you need to invest gold with credits. Like for example: uh... Usable Nuclear Weapon, 2 Credits (Yeah, right) and X gold. 20% chance to get 4 Early Nukes after completion. 30% Chance to get 3 Early Nukes, 50% chance to get 2 Early Nukes.

Also, I should have 2 food because I got hunting 5.
 
nice moves charles li, but once again your population is going to take a hit =D, but you get to see prime real estate =D.

Abaddon, yes there will be more tree like tech trees coming up, the first one is primarily just the founding one. One such example of a slightly different path is the tundra only trading and distant gathering. Abaddon if you have any ideas state them now, and while your at it post your orders.

Do I get BOTH types?

Why do I take hits if I research less than 3 food items? I have/should have 2 food right now: 1 food + 1 food with hunting 5 and resource.

Because honestly you haven't even research farming and one of your foods is good soil, so it is of no use to your people, your civilization is basically just hunting, weakly.

As far as scouting goes, you have to specify which scouting you want, 1 or two, I am considering adding a tech later to allow both, and even expand the scouting tech, but not for now. So I was assuming two straight lines from se to sw, but if you want scouting level two let me know.
