So how do you like the Mass Effect 3 endings now?

This is what I thought:

  • Blue Choice: Improved.

    Votes: 5 55.6%
  • Red Choice: Worse.

    Votes: 1 11.1%
  • Green Choice: Meh!

    Votes: 3 33.3%

That was still unsatisfying. What happened to the people and species I worked and fought for?

I like the Destroy ending more, but the others less. I still hate Starbrat and I liked it better when the Reapers were ominous creatures that moved, ate, and reproduced. Making them slaves to an AI kind of killed it for me at first. At least now it seems that they were given a purpose and let loose. They aren't working for SB, just indirectly accomplishing its goals.

I'm hoping the geth and Edi can be rebuilt as it stinks to lose them after everything that was built up the last 2 games.

Refusal is probably my favorite. You lose, but the next cycle wins. There's your heroic sacrifice and your middle finger to the Catalyst.

Now, for an actual canon ending, Control is probably the best. What's the point of brokering peace with the Geth and Quarians, helping EDI mature, etc only to wipe them out. Seeing how fast Rannoch is put back together in the slideshow though makes me think that the Crucible did not destroy as much as it said it would. Tali tells you that Quarians are taking in more synthetic implants, etc and that the Geth are assisting in reconstructing Rannoch, which would make it's redevelopment move much faster than otherwise.

So I think Bioware overlooked that little portion in the Destroy ending. Synthesis just blows.

In Synthesis ending, have you guys noticed we get to see what the Quarians looked like for a split second?

It's weird that they show that Quarian but Tali still has her mask on for Shepard's funeral. Maybe they thought we wouldn't recognize her?

Wait until you're close to the end. Every time you quit, the score goes down 2%.

Also, you really don't have to play all that much. You can get it up to about 3500ish pretty easily, and from there two or three MP matches ought to get you up to 4000.

So are the endings "bad" because they aren't "happy happy, joy joy" endings?

Fans wanted 10,000 different endings based on your actions, not 3.

No. Since the EC came out, two of them are very clearly "happy happy, joy joy" endings. (The other two are a "you lose" ending and an ending that makes no freaking sense at all, respectively.) Those two were "happy happy, joy joy" endings before, as well, but people claimed that that wasn't clear.

The problem is the route taken to get to the endings. The last part of the game rapidly goes down the crapper, with increasingly nonsensical things happening...it's a little surreal, and extremely unsatisfying. The final ending choice is divorced from the many other choices you've made throughout the game; before the EC, all you got was, effectively, a different colored explosion based on your choice. With the EC, there are a few scenes and some commentary that talk about the consequences of your other choices, but still...I dunno. I think they ought to have blown up the endgame and started over, but that'd be unrealistic of me.

Indoctrination theory is still the only that makes any sense.
And the whole Catalyst crap is still ********, cliché and absurd.

Agree with you there. After three games' worth of content, it was rather disappointing to see the story go a 2001-like route. After the full-out attack on the Sol system, the story's momentum just lurches and falls over.

Simon, I just looked it up and apparently the most EMS you need is now down to 3100, which is easily achieved in single player alone.

The "rejection" ending took a massive dump all over indoctrination "theory". Which should've buried it for good, but whatever.

I didn't mean that indoctrination was the actual ending. It's pretty obvious now that it was not the plan.

I meant that it was the only ending that was not crap, and a MUCH better, thoughtful and subtle one.

"Solipsistic garbage" and "thoughtful and subtle" don't usually coincide.
