So I Drunk A Bud

Bud passes the ok test for me. There's a lot worse.

I want to try kvass.

My usual home drink:

in a glass, half an inch (or less) pure, 96° alcohol, water, lemon juice, ice.

Calories? What?

are we sharing cocktail recipes? this one I call "Dirty Underwear" because, well..

whiskey glass, two medium ice cubes
bit vodka or white rum
freshly squeezed lime juice
splash pineapple or guava juice
the water from a glass of pickled jalapenos
finish with a pinch of salt, add some vietnamese cilantro or lemon vervene if you're feeling experimental

Well I bought a dozen and drunk 6. If my favorite beers are a ten I would give this a 6 or 7. Smoother than a few NZ beers, and I like it better than Steinlager and Heineken which I understand is available overseas.

Paid $22 NZD a dozen which is around $14 USD so it's about the same price as cheaper craft beers on special.

Would rather drink it over the NZ Bud equivalents.

Oh my sweet, silly, (possibly) non-alcoholic goose*.

Once you care, most of the calories are from the alcohol. 7 calories per gram of alcohol. 9 calories per gram of fat. And fat is nutritionally useful.

*In kind terms, not sarcasmo ones.

All in good fun, Farm Boy

I knew alcohol was not calory-free (thanks for the figures). But my point is, any alcoholic beverage is bound to have other sources of calories, while a dilution in water only contains those inherent to the alcohol (in case I'm not explaining myself well, a 12% glass of wine carries also whatever, good or bad, is contained in wine, while the alcoholic equivalent made with H2O+ethanol is just alcohol and whatever minerals are in the water).

Naw, makes sense. It's one of the reasons the hard seltzer water things are good. It's essentially the same drill, try and cut down to as close as possible to water and the junk itself.

Beer is pretty calorie heavy as a way to stupidify, it's just sort of pleasant because the high fluid ratio makes pacing easier, and slower, even when decision making is getting progressively harder to grasp. Self-regulating to an extent.

No more Bud. Drinking a few over 3 sessions I found it to have a sweet aftertaste.

Nice bottle relative to what we have here. Not a strong taste.

Black Fly and Jack Daniels, somehow i can still walk. I had some left over from my trip up north.
edit: I do seem to be making more typos than usual...(I.E. one typo per word instead of one type every second word.....stupid fingers...)

Founder's based out of Grand Rapids MI, release a few new ones I like. First they rebranded PC Pils to be simply called Pilsner. Not sure why, it's such a boring name, but it's still good. Properly hopped pilsner, very unlike american pilsners which generally drink just like lagers. 86% rating on beer advocate. Then they came out with this new one called Mosaic Promise. They call it a single hopped ale, I think it tastes half way between a pils and an IPA, or like a light IPA without the full bitter punch they sometimes bring. Very good. I guess a single hopped ale is brewed with just one hops so it usually has a more distinct flavor than ales that blend hops so it can be kind of hit or miss with drinkers, but it too rates very high at 91%. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1199/98383/

That grill-drinking with coworkers went quite well. There were drinking, dancing (we got rented a stage), lots of fun and laughter but not without cost. I have lost my glasses under the influence and now need to replace them . That's gonna be a rather large hit on my pockets (where it hurts the most)

Bumping for my new favorite light beer, Sam Adam's '76. It's a lager that's made with a blend of ale hops so it has good depth of flavor with some hoppy, fruity notes to it. Yet it's refreshingly light and drinkable, 4.7% abv and 126 calories per 12 fl ounces. So if you want to drink a few on a cool fall day or watching the game without falling asleep cus your beer has the abv of wine, but you still want flavor, ie not bud, this is a fantastic choice. A little pricier than domestic but no where near micro brew prices, and widely available. And I'm not the only one who thinks it's great- it has an 82 rating on rating sites which is really high, average beers around 70, almost no beer breaks 90.
